Welcome to Renotalk! All the best for your reno! Do share with us any reno problem you encounter since you are not looking for an ID, we Renotalkers can help you to brainstorm for solutions. Cheeeeers! -
Hmmm.. Interesting topic for discussion. Well, for me, I'm pretty straightforward and have thick bulletproof skin. For the IDs who I have rejected, I will simply call or SMS them to thank them for their services and inform them that I have decided to sign the contract with another ID. Those who are "gentleman/gentleladies" will normally say "It's okay, thank you too. I wish you all the best in your renovation". For those who are a little thick-skin (just like me ), they will pursue on and keep asking questions like "Why didn't you select me?! Was it because of the quote?! I can revise and send it to you again! There's room for negotiation etc etc etc." To handle these persistent IDs, I will just reply, via phonecalls or SMS, that I had just signed the contract last night. If you had seen my T-blog, there's one super super super persistent female ID who keep sending me revised quote after quote, even after I told her about my decision to sign with another ID because her quote is no way close to my budget. What I did is I gave her a call and tell her don't bother to waste each other's time because there's no chance I'm signing the contract with her (sounds like some break-up scene in dramas, hahaha... ) Try practising a few times before you SMS or call the ID. You can do it buddy!

A top up of $400 for a 7 feet wardrobe. Not sure if it's expensive. Wah! Hide the TV in the wardrobe! I doubt I can diligently close the wardrobe doors every night cause I'm a little forgetful at times. Hahaha! You haven't selected an ID/Contractor even after going through the process for 6 months? OMG! Hahahaha... I chose mine within a month cause I'm pretty lazy to make appointments with them constantly and repeating the same thing, hahaha... Good luck on your selection!

I have my grilles done by a highly-sought after contractor in this forum. His name is Andy. You can arrange an appointment with him via this thread - "http://www.renotalk.com/forum/topic/49500-home-aluminium-metal-works/page-4". The workmanship is not bad and the quoted price is pretty affordable too! You can try it.

My Humble Abode
Bengologist replied to lawrenceke's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat - HDB BTO Interior Design and Renovation
Hey lawrenceke, How much did you pay for the shelving services? I'm also thinking of doing shelving for my bomb shelter room (a.k.a storeroom) after my renovation is done. -
Wow! I guess you must have ordered a lot of Taobao items! Just the first shipment and there's so many items listed. Hahaha... Post more pics on your Taobao loots.

Yeah of course, she's my only sibling (妹妹), of course I am good to her , although I always squabble with her over trivial issues. Hahaha! She's getting her BTO soon too, probably end of the year or early next year, so she will be moving out soon. I guess that vacant room will be kept as my entertainment room or perhaps for my future daughters (if I have daughters) when I get married. But first, I must find a girlfriend first. WAHAHAHAHAHA!

Hahaha! Yeahhh, I putting heart after MiracleSG also share his/her experience with glass sliding door wardrobe, so no problem about that. LOL! I'm like you, a plain John, so I hardly look myself in the mirrors. Sometimes I don't even look at myself in the mirror before rushing out of house, so mirrors are pretty useless tool in my bedroom. However I'm still gonna buy a few and install in the house for the ladies (ie my mom & sis) staying with me, and probably probably if I'm married in the future, for my future wife. Hahaha!
-
Yeah awesome! Let's go TECHNO together! Hahahaha!
-
Yeah I'm using glass cause I think it looks very pretty . However, like what you say, it cost a bomb for the upgrade. To be precise, a whooping 400 bucks! I'm hoping that I make the right choice. Hahaha! I also wanna install mirrors initially in the living hall so that the whole area will look spacious. However, after thinking the holes it will burn in my pockets and also the unglam sight of fingerprints all over the mirrors, I decided to abandon the idea and keep my walls simple. Haha!
-
OMG! Anyway I wish you all the best! Hopefully your renovation can be completed wayyyyyy before the lunar 7th month. Oh btw, welcome to RT!
-
I have gotten a glass type Hob as the glass is lifetime warranty and that it indeed look much prettier than stainless steel hob. Hahaha! Oh btw, mine is Tecno. I heard from various salespersonnel (except Fujioh promoters) that Tecno is a better brand than Fujioh. I'm not sure about Rinnai though. Ha!

Hey Easter, Welcome to RT and welcome you to the northeast side of Singapore. Guess you can say we're neighbours since Punggol & Sengkang are side-by-side. Hahaha! Glad to see that you have started a T-blog too! Good luck on your reno! Cheeeeeeers!

Hi Granitetop (Interesting name! I'm getting a granite top for my kitchen cabinet too. Hehehe.. ) Thanks for the compliments! Don't worry! Sharing is caring, so please help yourselves to all the information and links. Cheers!

Hi MiracleSG (Nice name btw), Thanks for the information. At least I'm feeling a little comfort that I didn't splash the extra cash for a glass sliding door wardrobe only for it to damage easily. However, I guess it's all about the daily usage and maintenance of the wardrobe. I will be super duper extra careful on my wardrobe so that it can last more than 20 years. Hahahahaha! Kinda ambitious huh! As for the part about fengshui, sorry but I'm not exactly a fengshui person, even though my parents and sister are constantly harping about it to me. They warned me about " the reflection on the glass sliding door" and "not good to have feet or head facing the bedroom doors", but I didn't heed their advices (Sorry I have to admit I'm little stubborn on these ).

Ha! My sister also like the purple one. Even though she only commented "Still okay lah", I can see that she's beaming with joy on her face. Hahaha! Hmmm.. I have heard my ID commenting about glass sliding wardrobes not as lasting as casement wardrobes but I still went ahead with the glass sliding wardrobes because firstly it looks more trendy & modern, and secondly because it saves space. Not sure if mine's laminated. I kinda recall my ID saying something about getting the glass sandblasted so that a portion of it will be frosted glass. Don't know if this has anything to do with lamination on the sliding doors. Hahaha..
-
Haha thanks! It's going a little slow but I guess it's just part of all renovation processes. Delays & hiccups are unavoidable right? Haha! Yeah, I'm eagerly waiting for the day when my house is fully renovated. Ha!
-
Hey ChinSer! Thanks for the compliments! My family and I love the designs too but we are also realistic people, knowing that the final product will not be as perfect as the 3D drawings. As long as there's more than 50% resemblance, we are more than satisfied. Hahaha!
-
Hahaha.. Thanks! Hmmm, they provide me the glass sliding door option and I opted for it in the MBR. However, it comes with a price. A huge one to be precise.
-
Hey Easter, I was once also a noob in online purchases, especially from Taobao, so don't worry about it. I went to create an account with Peeka and made all my Taobao purchases via Peeka. It's quite easy breezy. Perhaps you can give it a try.
-
Hmmm.. I have looked through the list and I think $29k is a decent quote, especially since your renovation involves quite a lot of carpentry work, which are usually the expensive component of renovation. You can try to negotiate with your ID to provide discount? Hahaha...
-
Hi TWTOwner, Thanks for the information! I have just met up with the famous "Mr Chew" recently to find out about the estimated price of doing roller blinds for the whole house. It's below $1k. Can you pm me how much Vincent quote you? I'm hoping to call him perhaps tomorrow.
-
Hahaha.. Buy those acrylic protective sheet to cover your cabinets.

Wah! That's hard work! I have tried spending a day on site to monitor their work and I almost died from boredom.
