  1. Hi plainsharon I have no idea what laminates is mine under... maybe you can check with him if it is the same. If so, I can share more pic with you or you can drop by to see. Because sample and the real big piece will give you a different feel. I would say, go with his suggestion if you are ok with woodgrain... Because, now the more I look at the laminate, the more I love it.. Hahahaha. The white laminate is for my wardrobe door. For Kitchen, it was another set of laminates (choosen by Hus)... It's from the laminate book, glossy with woodgrain design... think I have posted picture before.. will do another post on the Kitchen cabinet once the glass backing is up. I don't think the overall look of my house will have Mr K's feel. He has been doing lots of brick wall and scandinavian theme house, mine is neither...
  2. Wardrobe (continued...) Went up to our place on Thursday (21 Nov)... The shelving, mirror and doors are up! Happy! Love opening the doors to see my chio interior PVC. I hope the mirror was a bit wider... but did not communicate this to Mr K prior to this.. anyway, I am pleased with the result, able to see full body.. The door at the corner was stuck.. unable to open.. Mr K advised that we get a slimmer light, about 2 inches or less... Hubby went to get one for me the next day, for the electrician to change it. The anyhow get lighting was not something which I would like but really bo bian, I got no time to get it, can only go with whatever hus buy.. (he claimed that there is only one design... -_-") before changing the light... View from the entrance again! This time round with bedroom door!
  3. Wardrobe Laminate (selected with help from Mr K, all the different designs look same to me...) Interior View of wardrobe from the entrance View of wardrobe from the bathroom Our wardrobe is not a walk in concept... Fear that the interior and clothes will be attacked by the moist... Back of the wardrobe.. I thought this color was the raw wood, not realising that it is actually the laminate of my choice! (idk how the carpenter do it, but there wasn't any writing on the laminate when it was done..) It looks kinda different from the sample. Honestly, I didn't like it at first.. it gives me the "incomplete" look but now, the more I look at it, the more I love it! Area behind the wardrobe... behind the wardrobe - another angle...
  4. My reno cost is 20K plus... cannot disclose plus how much. U can get the quote fr Mr K. he is very friendly..
  5. Doors Finally, doors are installed ytd... Our renovation sort of comes to an end... pending for the final round of washing on Wednesday and a mass meetup with all the workers to touch up/rectify the problems. Appliances and furnitures will be delivered after the washing!
  6. Hi plainsharon, actually quote comforting to know that im not alone (oops). But I really understand that kind of frustration that comes along. I really chased... mainly because I got chased by the mister, and bo bian I chase Mr K... We do understand he is busy, work tend to be slower. That's ok. But he doesnt tell us the timeline, we cant plan the delivery date for appliances and furnitures. Instead of waiting for him to give the green light, I tell him the date xxx items will arrive and expect xxx to be done by then. Spotted quite a few areas to touch up. A bit of disappointment.. if he had more time to do the inspection and rectified those areas before I could spot them, then like many forumers, I would probably agree that his work is of top notch quality. Sadly, we were the one who spotted those... but whenever we feedback, if manpower allows, he would get the workers to rectify it very quickly. Example, we told him that some of the kitchen cabinet door hits another door or hood, and the next time we went up, there was already rubber stopper... I also cut down on the carpentry, could be because it's less so it's faster.. are you doing alot of carpentry or hacking work?
  7. Hi Minnielt, to be fair to Mr K, I cant provide you the breakdown of the reno cost. You can always get a quote from him. Hi AnW, like mentioned abv, I cant provide breakdown cost as to be fair to Mr K. I will share my experience with you. I was like you, all hyped up to have my reno done by him after seeing so many gd reviews from many forumers here. In fact, I love those houses that he brought me to, spoken to the owners (all very satisfied ) and was so eagerly waiting for my reno to start... well this is my first hse/reno, I have no ground for comparison but I do feel that he is a little too busy to oversee my project. All of the hiccups I mentioned above happened when he wasn't ard (actually most of the time he is not there). He just arranged for the workers to go up and get the work done (be it electrician, painter, tilers or whatsoever). IF he was present, probably wont have those hiccups...idk.. this is just a what if ... Most of the time we wouldnt know what will be done and when. We targeted to move in before new year (reno started on 3 Oct) so we tend to chase him for things, no time to wait for his "surprise". Communication was via phone calls and whatsapp (my walls colors, choice of tile), except for laminates and doors which I insisted a meet up. I dont know how to defined top quality carpentry, but my carpentry is not as perfect as what I had imagined it to be, considered the price I paid. (it has yet to be touched up) Probably I should share some photos of the "not so perfect areas" for the experienced forumers to comment? I believed if you can get his time and devotion to your house plus you are not in a hurry to move, it is very likely to turn out very beautiful... I just got him at the "peak period"... so call right person, wrong time? hahaha..
  8. Thanks for sharing! Will get a quote from him to compare...
  9. Same here! The LG was recommended by the salesman at Harvey Norman. Seems like they are pushing for LG brand. Zero's price is very competitive but when it comes to reliability, will it be as good as those electronic stores?
  10. Updates (will upload the photos to this soon): Wardrobe completed. Kitchen glass door is up. Ceiling Fans up. Downlight all connected.Pending Bedroom doors. Last layer painting. Kitchen cabinet, pending for hob and backsplash. Toilet accessoriesHiccups: Unable to open 180 degree wardrobe door as the light is blocking the door. Solution: shift the lighting point OR change to a even slimmer light. The worker who installed our ceiling fans threw away the back cover (for the batteries) of the remote control. AND DID NOT INFORM US! The packaging for our ceiling fans were already at the rubbish chute. Solution: Luckily we went up to check and discovered the missing part before the boxes got cleared away, I managed to recover it from the pile of styrofoam, plastics and boxes. There was a hairline crack, starting from the ceiling fan area all the way to the aircon wall. It runs across half of our ceiling.. Solution: pending for Mr K to rectify... which I don't know when he will have the time to come over, he is TOO BUSY. Our main door (gate locked thou) was wide open, with the kitchen lights on. The worker FORGOT to switch off before leaving!
  11. Oh my! this sounds really bad. I will get masking tape to tape the peephole, changing our lock to a better one too. Thanks for the advice.
  12. Service Yard Mr K was very quick to point on that this pipe will be relocated... after relocation... Our 8kg Front Load can fit in nicely.. still considering if we needed to get a dryer (in case the clothes doesn't dry, we will get one.. but that will be after we move in..) The Mr insisted to deliver the washer before the carpentry is completed and now, my washer is full of dust and dirt! Lesson learnt: Never ever deliver washer before carpentry work is completed! Fridge and other appliances still not so bad, but for washer, the delivery man will NEED to UNWRAP your washer and install for you... As for fridge, one can always just put the plug in and on the switch, no installation required..
  13. Anyway I will provide some mid-point feedback on Mr K. My experience with him somewhat falls below my expectation. Probably due to all the raving from the forumers here, I do have some expectations. Most of the time, we were the one who did the chasing. Unlike the rest of the forumers here who got chased by him. We chased for the carpentry work. He only showed us the draft after flooring was done, downlights up, windows installed, painting done (pending for last layer - not touch up!) So our renovation actually came to a still while waiting for the carpentry. He was unable to meet up with us to discuss on our carpentry work and suggested that we meet up with his carpenter instead. (I haven't seen him since the start of reno, except my hus but most of the time will be to collect payment). I insisted to meet him personally. Kinda squeezed a slot out of his busy schedule and managed to meet him to finalise on our carpentry (design and laminate). We did not receive any photos via whatsapp from him on the progress, unlike others... The homogeneous tiles arrived were uneven. Instead of liaising with him, we liaised with the tiler, without his presence. But to be fair, the end product are so far so good. will update again when the reno is completed. Those who are thinking to engage his service, do consider the reno period. He is very busy during year end. We collected our keys in end of September and it's also the period where many would rush to have a make over for their house for xmas/new year/cny. Probably it's not so bad if you intend to do the reno after CNY or so.
  14. Refrigerator Couldn't decide which fridge to get. Mitsubishi or LG? 1. Mitsubishi MRV45C @ $799. Capacity is 342L but energy consumption is 613kWh, not very efficient. 3 ticks only. 2. Mitsubishi MRF47C/E @ $799/$759. Capacity is slightly bigger 375L, 551kWh. Slightly more energy efficient but it's only 3 ticks. 3. LG GR-M562GSH @ $799. It's stainless steel. Capacity 416L, 515kWh and it's 4 ticks. My concern is, it's stainless steel, not as nice as Mitsubishi... Anyone using any of the fridge mentioned above or have any feedback? Please comment. Thanks!
  15. I think nowadays, many ID/contractors will let you have the choice of internal pvc FOC. too competitive already..
  16. Hi kaykay, it's inclusive in the quote. The interior (should be just pvc, not laminate) was actually suggested by Mr K. We didn't want white but at the same time don't have any idea on what is nice too. So just went along with his suggestion. Quite please with the outcome.
  17. Managed to squeeze in a 10 feet wardrobe in the master bedroom. Yes, this means that we are left with just enough space for our beds.. and we intend to put 2 mattresses (queen and s/or just single) in the tiny space behind the wardrobe, in case our kids want to co-sleep with us. we also left the other room untouched. so for now, this wardrobe has got to hold clothes for a family of 4!
  18. Removed the "auto-close" mechanism of our door. I totally dislike the idea of workers moving things in and the possibility that the door might slam on any of the items.
  19. Hubby and I wanted to do a tempered swing glass door at the kitchen... but he dislike the idea of going behind the door just to on the lights... We shifted the switch from kitchen to the living room! Before relocation After relocation
  20. After so long, our carpentry is finally up! Incomplete still, pending for our solid top. Kitchen Cabinet Kitchen Cabinet (Fridge side)
  21. Thank you! I engaged Mr K as our contractor, discussing on electric points, should be starting real work very soon! I finally figured out how to upload the photos properly, updated with a bigger pic!
