Hihi, I also discovered that the metal below the blum track turns rusty. Anyone also experience the same??? Just 8 months of usage only...
-
I have moved in for 8 months, since Dec 2013. It's horrifying when I saw tiny fungus alike stuff growing out between the silicon and sink. (I wiped the fungus off before taking this pic, too gross!) I peeked at the underneath of the sink and saw these... Can someone enlighten me what are these? Any good silicon to recommend to prevent growth of these disgusting mould? Anyone experience the same thing before? Please share your experience. I spoke to my contractor, the solution he gave was to use a knife to clear all the yucky stuff, then re-seal the top with new silicon.

You are really nice! But the normal drawers just doesn't justify for the price you paid for. It is tough to get him to give discount/refund since you have already paid in full. How about get him to do some additional mini project for your house? Like some customised shelf for service yard or so...
-
Hi elin1029 I think you should change them to blum drawers. Since you were quoted for that. My reno was done by Mr K too. I experience and understand the not "so fast" part, my reno started in October and "handover" was in late December. We have to constantly "chase" him to get things move a little faster. However, in terms of carpentry work, so far so good... We just discovered that the door handle was of different model of our choice, told him about it and he offered to change it (after CNY). I would say his after sales service is still good (we had already paid him in full).

Hi ANDiLaLaLa, Glad that these little info I shared is of help to you. We have officially moved it, there are plenty of things to get still. Didnt know a house need so many things.

Hi hi, indeed this is drainage pipe. Er.. im not so sure about the terms but I do think outlet and drainage pipe are the same. Can some expert here help pls?
-
Hihi, dont mention. I understand it can be really frustrating. Those are the things we did, I find it somehow help a bit. Hope it will be of help to you too. Hahaha, you must inform Mr K, probably drop him a text if not dont think he will install it. Bring an erasable marker or crayon to draw on the toilet wall tiles if you need it to be at specific location.. we brought a pencil (quite dumb... cannot write on the tiles).. ended up writing the height on packaging. Wow those owner very garang... Better be vigilant about the lock. I always scared my hus, said one day you will step in to find your ceiling fans, air cons and lights all disappeared. hahaha.

Don't worry, he don't reply doesn't mean he don't care. He remembers. but probably caught up with other stuff, once he comes back to you, he will settle all at one go, including the msg that he don't reply. (hee, afterall i think when it comes to texting, he is not that pro, most of the time he will reply via phone call) We didn't bother about the plumber time and etc, just get our bathroom accessories and write the height where we want it to be and place the item on the floor then inform K. He will make arrangement for plumber or whoever to install when he got the manpower. Probably better? At least the plumber dont have to match my timing, he just do whenever he free. hahaha, the wardrobe hitting the light is small issue. just change the light will do. we are lucky, he just busy but overall work is still good. There are others who paid a premium for lousy work done. Yes, no official handover. Once all the things are up, (aside from rectification), we changed the lock cos our household appliances was delivered too. Of course, before we change the lock, we did check wit K first to make sure his workers dont need to come up on their own to carry out work any more.

Since reno is coming to an end, I am back here to conclude about my experience with Mr K. Carpentry work is good I would say that overall carpentry work is good. There were some scratches and tiny hole that seems to be caused by sharp edge of bulky things. I guess all these are unavoidable. Aside from these, the joints are good, materials are of good quality, workmanship is good overall! As for durability, only time will tell.. probably need a few years... I was disappointed that he didn't pass us the lamitak booklet and we, in a rush, make do with the not so nice design that was given to us. He also didn't suggest lamitak laminates when we couldnt decide from the sample given. Flooring Very neat. Spotted one or two uneven skirting and tiny 2 tiny gaps so far. All these can be touched up and rectified. I have a neighbour who has to saw his door shorter due to the flooring. The tilers probably didnt start from the entrance? Painting He left the last layer of paint last, and I went to check with him why. I thought it was to finished the last layer, do the carpentry then touch up with paint. He said touch up not nice, will see patches of color here and there. Very true! Tested and proven. There were dirty finger marked left by the electrician, the Mr tried to touch up (dw to ask the painter down again) and there is a patch there. -_-:So end up, the painter still gotta make a trip down. Others Whenever we feedback or tell him our concern, he would return with a solution or make arrangement pretty quickly. Just that I dont really get to see him and haven't seen the "artistic/designer" side of him. Well, there isn't much for him to display his talent too, as you can see, our reno is a simple one. We wanted something practical and safe for the kids. But the Kitchen tempered glass door doesnt seem so kids friendly now. He did warned us about the door being very big and heavy and would need more hinge, we used 3. Don't remember him mentioning anything about safety. I should have asked him to suggest for alternative. Tsk! All in all, !

Yes! You are not alone. Please remind him of your moving date from time to time, most likely, if he can, sure will do it for you. The carpenter will be a better person for drilling, for fixing, I am not sure. I personally prefer to do the touch up one shot after we moved in for about a week or two. Now what we see are very superficial, only when u moved in den will be able to see where the real problems are. But somehow he arranged all his workers to come to our house today to do the touch up. I find it too early. I suggest touch up to wait till aft u move in (before house warming) unless the problem is very major and needs immediate attention kind. Oops, did he complaint about mine? Hahaha, we keep calling him for all the tiny problems we found initially. And he was very nice also, arranged someone to fix our problem as and when also.. but I seldom see him at my place... asked if he would be around to oversee the touch up work (carrying out today), he said he don't have time. My colleague who is having her house reno at the same time gotten a very good contractor. The contractor oversee most of the work to make sure the worker do their job properly and get it done once and for all. True enough, my colleague haven't found any areas for touch up yet, probably all rectified by the contractor even before my colleague get to see it. I think it's very important to engage someone who can commit his time and heart for your house.

Hi plainsharon, I understand how you feel. Most of the problems we encountered were solvable kind just need a bit more time. If he promised you that it will be ready by xxx, he sure will do for you. I still have outstanding item (carpentry work) from him but decided that we will move in first since it's just shoe rack. By the way, what is final wiring? Actually once carpentry is up, things will progress very quickly... Meanwhile, go shopping for your house decos. Get items which needs fixing or drilling on walls first while waiting. I leave all these as post-reno and nw the house is empty.. hahaha. Wanna hang photos and clock only can ask them to agar a spot to put nail for me. ps: He didnt even pass me the lamitak booklet... I choose fr the other laminates booklet and a stacked of sample (super heavy). dk if lamitak are in the big stack, but I wasnt informed that lamitak is better.. sigh... Well, despite the small hiccups here and there, I am still quite pleased with the final product... All these will be worthwhile once the reno is done.. hang in there!

Solid Countertop with no-drip The Mr insisted that he wanted a no-drip solid countertop while Mr K recommended granite. Here is the countertop which the Mr is very pleased about. another of his baby is this sink. He loves this sink so much that we bought it almost immediately. The texture is different from the usual sink that we see. Will use a better camera for a close-up as my hp is unable to capture the effect. Glass backing installed
