  1. Sorry for late replies! Hi marcel, Take a look at the pics. Hi LHWH, My flooring is not laminate. Its a type of vinyl called HERF(high end resilient flooring) and mine is from evorich. It cost me $6 psf before GST incl installation Taobao faucet installation no problem. It usually comes with connectors - must choose the right option when purchasing. To my knowledge, the only faucets that may be troublesome are those manufactured for US market e.g, those purchased from amazon. Those will require adaptors to fit our local dimensions. Hi rainbow, the sink does indeed come with drainage pipes. Just need to choose that option with these accessories when buying from taobao. Hi sleepykunst, I'm glad you found my blog useful! All my taobao stuff is in working order and trouble-free. No complaints. I did have to change one of the edison bulbs that came with the octopus industrial chandelier. My suggestion is to buy spare edison bulbs to keep since it's considerably cheaper on taobao. Hi inxlee, Do you mean those LED lightbulbs? I got 7W warm white which is is not bright (my intention to use more for mood lighting purposes). I think you will need at least 12W for reading purposes. My hairpin leg table is from second charm. The lady boss is Sharifah and she is a very reasonable person. I paid roughly 800 plus including transport. Please be mindful that if you order custom dimension stuff, waiting time may be 3 months as her shipments are every quarter. Hi markng37, kompactop is about 105-110 psf (incl GST and installation)
  2. Nice to see plant enthusiasts! I've been bitten by the plant bug too, specifically cacti and succulents, as well as bonsai My favorite bonsai after pruned! The nurseries which are a must to visit are world farm (near khatib) and pioneer (which was mentioned here) Best prices so far. Far east is most ex in my opinion but they do have some nice ones from time to time.
  3. An interesting idea. You could basically hide the whole length of the wall, and the doors including the bomb shelter, toilet, MBR etc such that it looks like one continuous wall. Could look quite sleek. In order to do this, will requires quite a bit of carpentry though and that will add to cost signficantly.
  4. Ah ok. I've tried the oil based sealer before. After some time it tends to peel off in large flakes.
  5. I used all entry level grade paints: odourless easy wash for nippon - which was a white and pentalite for my greys. All good. Just use water based. Easy to paint over once you want to change colour. Heh
  6. I have both Nippon and dulux paint on my walls. Nippon for the white and dulux for the colours. Both are the same to me after 6 months. One thing I feel is that the range of dulux colours is better than Nippon in my opinion. That was my experience in choosing greys.
  7. Hi hojichalatte, have you considered numerar worktop from ikea? it's solid beech.
  8. I just wanted to chime is that the fan is very nice! You may wish to consider just staining it yourself to the desired colour since it's already wood.
  9. I'm also selling my desk/side console at $250 because of space constraints and wanting to re-do layout in my living area. Please refer to my ad here.
  10. Thanks Agnes for the compliments. My reno process had some downs which were rectified satisfactorily. All in all, I am very satisfied with the outcome. I think you are referring to my folding door? That was sourced by my main contractor. It's a regular black aluminum frame that many renotalkers have used. For the 3 panel folding door and three panels above it - I paid $2800. Dunno if that is considered ex or not as I didn't bother to shop around. Hi dezy, My faucet is from taobao. It's a Don Bracht replica. 580 yuan excl shipping. http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=19687200218 The sink is also from taobao. Brand is Selena - apparently the OEM for Kraus sink that renotalkers purchase from Amazon. http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=21023107851 I paid 560 yuan excl shipping to Singapore. The faucet height is 70cm so very nice to see when paired with the sink. Glad you like it too! Hi i99box, My countertop is kompactop. It's not a laminate per se. Some sort of resin material. Waterproof, unlike laminate. I tested this with the samples they gave me. And after using for 6 months, no issues to date.
  11. Bump. Price has been knocked off since I am keen on letting this go to a new home. S$250 negotiable. Self arrange transport. Based on dimensions, likely to be able to fit into back of MPV. Please PM me for viewing.
  12. Here are some of taobao links for carpets which I kept. Enjoy Nice carpet shophttp://mega-rug.taobao.com/search.htm?spm=a1z10.5.w5002-1913485648.1.F0fRul&search=y blue geometric - 300 yuan per sq m http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.5.w4002-1913485696.42.qOND7K&id=25895388529 grey carpets! Good price from tmall shophttp://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.5.w5718339-3417987766.7.DK6z7e&id=2224749913
  13. Got try the command strips yet? Wonder if the taobao ones are the same as those sold in Singapore (which happen to be rather ex honestly)
  14. Place is very nicely done, Vic! A lot of carpentry I have to say!! The tap in your guest bathroom looks familiar heh
  15. Most current vinyl system use click type (interlocking) for ease of installation. e.g. evorich or bilrich I have evorich installed in most of my place except bathroom and yard area. No skirting.
  16. I think it's not possible to comment unless there is more specificity in the details For instance the length of the carpentry quoted, usually in 'per foot run' and up to 8 ft (2.4m) in height. Same goes for the length of wall being hacked, and length of cesarstone For electrical works, how many electrical points? I assume they are unconcealed. For the bedroom and bathroom doors, what is material is it?
  17. Ha I used this reference too. I'm 1.7m and my kitchen cabinet height (incl the thickness of surface top) is 90cm. Very comfortable.
  18. Hello! Got finished pic of the patched cement wall? I have one area in my bathroom where holes were wrongly drilled so patched up. Wondering how to get the shade/colour the same.
  19. What would you do if you saw your pic being used for commercial purposes? I recently came across one of mine. Although co had approached me for permission, I did not reply but they went ahead and put it up on facebook. Not sure how I feel..
  20. Thanks! My cement walls have no finishing. I know you've been trying to look for some options. I quite like the matt look for now though.
  21. Hi weezer, Thanks for the compliments! If your place current doesn't have a wall mount system, then you will need one to be constructed. Can consider the geberit monolith system in that case. It's about 900 plus. If I'm not wrong, comes with toilet bowl. So basically the whole system. Plus point is that it's much thinner than making a concrete one. Mine came with a concrete thing already so just needed to install the actuator and internal system plus toilet bowl. I didn't go for geberit as it was pricier. I can't recall the brand now. The three components collectively cost me 400 plus. Toilet bowl I went for Otto. Cheap and looks good. No point getting branded ones made in Italy and what not.
  22. Just chiming in. The thinner grout line are more aesthetically pleasing! The pic that you posted doesn't look professionally done. Heh
  23. Hi and welcome to Renotalk. I recently renovated my one bedroom and definitely noticed a tendency for contractors and ID quote higher when compared to same scope of work for hdb. Also probably because condo is much stricter about contractors strictly keeping to 9-5 working hours on weekdays only. ie there's a "premium" to be paid for reno based on address. Best to take time to shop around based on your budget. Good luck!
