  1. Really like the grey brick wall a lot! Nice amount of texture
  2. Hi lonestar, I checked and they no longer stock it. On the other hand, it is not going to fit my lifestyle in the near future (intending to get a fur kid) so would like to rehome this rug. PM me if you are interested. Hi marc31kelly, I'll PM his details to you. Gd luck!
  3. Hey stealth0128, I wanted to hack initially but my contractor told me to save money on that. The original flooring is marble in the living room and timber in the bedroom. Those were flat and level to begin with. The kitchen was tiled and unfortunately the floor was uneven there. So after overlay, everywhere is level except the kitchen. But I have to say it is hardly noticeable and none of my guests have noticed it until I point it out. In your case, I would assess the condition of homogenous tiles. If it's level, I would just overlay. For the doors, u may need to get a subcon to shave off a little of the bottom portion. I did this for three doors - main door and doors to the storage area. Cost about $150 or so. My doors are solid nyatoh wood - not sure if can do the same with veneer ones.
  4. Hi PTopaz - I think its a good buy. Maybe just get their entry level one if you're worried? I don't let the dishes soak in water in the sink for long periods. Maybe that's what causes the rust that you hear about? Hi stealth0128 - you have PM Hi vuzu, the terrarium is from taobao. The wood is driftwood from those aquarium shops and the plant is from the local nurseries.
  5. No rust. Some scratches here and there cos I don't take much care with it. I cook about 2-3 times a week and so the sink is quite well utilised.
  6. You got to click the 'Image' button and insert the URL of your image in order for it to show up. I don't think it's mandatory to tile the wall behind boxed areas. She is reducing the work scope in order to meet your budget probably. However, if there is a possibility to remove the boxed areas at some point, then should just tile it. Reason being is that it may be difficult to find the identical tile to match. Although the shop may still carry the same item, the colour shade may be different so it does not look entirely identical to the rest of the tiles. The other reason is that if you tile later, it will end up creating a new mess from laying tiles.
  7. Hi Dwinsplace, they removed this option to sort by seller rating recently I guess! Must be the low rating sellers complaining that it is unfair for them. I just bought some small items on taobao recently and I sorted them by "Sales volume" from high to low and then manually have to use my mouse over the shop name to check the rating. Alternatively can buy from tmall.
  8. Hope everyone had a good weekend! Over the past months I've been adding plants into my home. Some really easy to do stuff. Here are some results: A "desert" like terrarium A wood "sculpture" piece My cactus even bloomed for me this weekend!
  9. Your place is looking nice Redder! I especially like the gold rain shower. Looks very lux. Heh
  10. I would say1. That you were parked for a brief period of time eg 15 minutes. 2. The reason was that you had a very sudden onset of diarrhea and needed to use the restroom urgently 3. Be apologetic I've gotten away using that excuse before. It saved me 70 bucks. Worth a shot. Heh. If re appeal, it goes to another officer who may be more compassionate so don't give up on the first rejection. Gd luck! Edit: if you had a kid, might be worth saying that ur kid was the one who had the diarrhea urge. Heh
  11. Hi JasT - PM-ed you his contact. Hi duckit, it is from taobao. Link here. Thanks Dwinsplace! The kitchen mixer works fine. Water pressure is great and no water leaks. The local plumber installed without a hitch. There was no special adaptor required to fit our pipes here. Only heard of those purchased from US/Amazon which require an adaptor.
  12. I can tell you that thing is definitely not separating acidic and alkaline water Whilst the change in litmus paper colour is not as sensitive, it is accurate in being able to distinguish between acidic and alkaline water.
  13. Great job by your sub-con, especially the second picture! I asked my contractor to do this with cement too but he wasn't confident... It is uncommon to find someone who can execute it beautifully.
  14. Interesting discussion. I never figured out how each will affect flow rate which is a major concern for rain showers. From my own experience, I can vouch for instant gas heater for rain shower. Mine has an excellent flow rate and I live on the lower floor of a old condo. The other advantage of instant gas heater is that you will never run out of warm water. Whereas it is finite in a storage heater. So if you have a few people using the rain shower, not enough hot water may be stored. Oh and I never bought instant gas is cheaper either. If there truly are savings, it's minute.
  15. Thanks - if you are referring to the walls, its a cement plaster. Screed refers to floor. PM sent!
  16. The hacking and concealing is pricey I would ask them to throw in the installation of lights for free. The price per point I think is within market rates
  17. Ah ok, so the contractor took the doors down, brought back to their workshop, removed old laminate, then apply new laminate? How about the insides of the pre-existing carpentry? Did you change those too?
  18. Hi sharino, Was it easy to find carpenters who would do relaminating? I have this feeling most wouldn't want to do this job since they make a lot less?
  19. Comfort's business model is to offer discounts periodically. I've seen Lama bench on discount before but I didn't act fast enough. So I guess must ask when you purchase anything from them heh
  20. Thanks for the compliment! You won't go wrong with grey and wood (teak and walnut in particular) I saw you purchased the bench from comfort furniture - did you buy at regular retail price or got discount? I've been tempted to get it recently cos I have some DIY ideas to make it look really expensive heh.
