  1. Hi makanology, I have given the main con a piece of my mind. There is another method to touch up the laminate joints which they haven't tried. Though makes me quite upset that they didn't suggest that first and went for this permanent marker bs. Anyways meeting carpenter with main con next weekend when I'm back in sg.
  2. hey renolic, which are the pics with the concrete wall like the panels I bought? was browsing your tblog but can't seem to find it curious to know how they did it. heard there's a mold they can use. I saw it being in a lot of the condos in martin place area
  3. hey macuser, I realised I missed ur post actually I really wanted wanted for the track to be mounted on the ceiling so there will be a long glass panel above the folding door unfortunately I needed to hide some electrical points which I no longer needed and the most convenient way was a false beam. to be honest, it'll be a lot nicer if there wasn't a false beam. I have some decor related ideas for the false beam though! every compromise I make, I try to use it as an opportunity to use decor and work around it heh
  4. Good to know! The similarity never registered in my mind.
  5. Thanks Alfredt! These are folding doors with three panels. Aluminium, powder coated black. Problem with three panels is that it might be unstable/flimsy so needed top track in addition to bottom track. Naturally, there's an additional cost for that. I went with my contractor's contact so he can organize everything for me and make a small profit. I don't have that contact but there is a business advertiser here which gave me a very similar quote.
  6. hey mish, do you still visit renotalk? i suspect you can't post anymore pics cos your ID wants to submit pics to home magazines amirite??
  7. Laminate issues which I am very uncertain on how to rectify. The gap where the underlying plywood is visible just above the sink. Worried water enters and will cause problems They used a black permanent marker on the laminate to hide the visible plywood underneath. Is this normal? Any insights/inputs from renotalkers are appreciated!
  8. Vanity and kitchen counter tops are installed! Really quite in love with the look. No regrets with this choice.
  9. The diff is quite subtle. Maybe can tell us what is the surrounding flooring around these tiles, in order to decide better.
  10. Your welcome! Hope I don't sound too naggy. Lol Oh yeah furniture on taobao takes about 10-15 days to reach china warehouse. I just learnt this. Expect to wait about a month minimum before it reaches sg.
  11. I noticed that the tb seller on your link has 3 diamonds only. Might be worth finding one with at least 4 diamonds (5 preferrably or 1 crown)
  12. Hey Vanessa, Keywords would be "loft" or "工业" "书桌" for study desk. You may wish to just use 桌 to capture more hits If you want more vintage-y or distressed types, can add in "复古"
  13. Hi nashville, I was considering those since it will look cleaner, though maintenance will be troublesome I assume you will need to mount rainshower head on false ceiling And also require quite a bit of concealed piping. Not sure if HDB allows to hack the walls of toilets? PS thanks for the compliments! I will PM you my contractor details
  14. Hi Lynn, I have not bought anything from aliexpress so cannot comment. I do notice that the variety is much less than taobao
  15. Hi frank - noticed u made a lot of furniture purchases which are bulky. Anything u recommend or don't recommend?
  16. Been quite frustrated of late because of the carpentry. By and large it's ok but there were some workmanship issues which I hope they can resolve 1. At one specific plywood, it looks like the laminate wasn't long enough so it doesn't come in contact with the edge i.e. can see a tiny slither of plywood. 2. During installation, the drawer tracks have sliced and cut into the internal PVC lining i.e. can see some underlying plywood 3. Some other very minor scratches. One of them was one a door panel which I really cannot accept 4. Minor alignment issues with 2 drawers So during rectifications yesterday, they were armed with a black permanent markers and colouring in all small scratches. For the big scratches, they also did the same and wanted to get away with it! Anyway got them to bring back the badly scratched ones to re-do. I'm most concerned with item 1 - anyone else faced this problem? How did they resolve? Shall post pics later
  17. Hi June, in addition to gain city taking a look, have you considered getting another ac guy to take a look? I have this feeling that the same co who installed the product will not admit liability that easily since the cost will be borne by them. See lancified's t-blog about leaks that are caused by aircons - "definitely caused by bobo installer"
  18. It's mise en place *ahem* that's what Gordon, Jamie [other celebratory chef names] call it. Hee Actually I considered the fx900 hood cos the oil retention is very good. But it was too bulky and not aesthetically in line. So superficial of me. Lol
  19. haha nice to hear the story about hood and hob i also faced the same problem since i am no expert chef/cook but want to cook simple stuff from time to time from the differences based on technical specs and some online review, it seems like cannot really differentiate between the brands very well
  20. More review of my taobao purchases I don't recommend buying this lamp from the taobao seller I listed Had a lot of difficulty installing it because the lengths of the various rods are not the same! Anyway I managed to find a workaround last night and salvaged it. Just a heads up for those who are considering this lamp
  21. I think can definitely light up whole living room. Some t-blogs show this. Maybe consider having more, lower watt track lights as opposed to fewer higher watt ones - to disperse the light more evenly If not, can look a bit too commercial showroom/shop-like. But maybe you are going for this look too! Shipping via sea to Singapore takes 2 weeks. It look about 1 week to ship from the taobao seller to the peeka warehouse and repack. So total 3 weeks. If go via air, much quicker - like 1 weeks
  22. hee i was about to ask the same thing the burger bedframe is def from ethnicraft can't wait for mine to arrive
  23. I used the mini rice cooker a lot when overseas. can cook rice and steam meat/vege together so save time/effort. A good buy! Only minor quibble is that the water tends to bubble quite a bit and the water bubbles out. So must monitor when cooking.
