Hi blue.. Do take note that they don't ship to Singapore directly.. what I did was to have it shipped to my vpost acc.. then it was shipped back together with my other shopping items.. The stickers are not cheap.. but they are of really good quality and you can still peel em off and restick em elsewhere if neccessary..

Hi rainbowstars.. thanks for the compliment.. We selected the bathroom tiles from Hafary.. The picture below shows the model number for the wall and floor tiles.. Hope this helps!

Bought some stickers online from Blik to put up around the house.. can't wait to stick them up once the house is complete!! They aren't cheap.. but they are excellent quality and some can be removed and re-stuck if you wish to change the location of your stickers.. This one is my absolute favourite.. think I'll put this one up in my son's room..

Hi Ernest, We bought it from eBay..
-
Lighting continued My hubby bought this online a few weeks ago to be installed in the kitchen.. but it was pending the installation of the kitchen cabinets.. Now that the cabinets are almost done.. we've put up the light! So nice! love love..
-
That's true lah.. but as long as its functional for you now.. thats all that matters.. The worst thing to have is you agreed to something and then you can't use it.. sian half!

I had the same gap drawers for my Ikea wardrobe.. I thought it was nice hence I asked for the same type of drawers from my contractor.. Its very convenient when u you're putting away your laundry and you just slot your clothes in through the gap.. I think your ID was just convincing you not to have them cos they were more troublesome to make..
-
Yeah.. I read your blog about that issue too.. haiz.. how is that even functional?? I complained to my husband the moment I saw it.. he said I was over-reacting and that it was ok.. I nearly burst a vein when he said that!

Carpentry (Work in progress) The carpentry is finally in.. my house is turned into a total warzone.. with wood being the casualties.. And it was only after I saw the amount of wood work being carried into my house that I realized how much carpentry I actually have! Let's see.. 1) 2 full height wardrobes in the master bedroom 2) 1 full height wardrobe in the baby room 3) 1 full height bookshelf with sliding doors in the study 4) 1 full height shoe rack near the door entrance 5) 2 vanity tops in the bathrooms 6) Top and bottom kitchen cabinets 7) Sliding door for kitchen 8) Sliding door for study 9) Wood frame for study window 10) Doors for master and baby room and 2 toilets Hrmmm.. ok.. it really is a lot.. didn't realize it until I actually listed it out.. oh well! Picture time! Full height shoe cabinet and a shot of the kitchen sliding door.. the cabinet doors hasn't been installed yet.. its just propped up to show what it would look like after its done.. Some minor rectifications need to be done for the kitchen sliding door though.. Doors are installed.. they'll be painted white to look less obvious.. door handle edges are very sharp.. need to ask them to round out the edges.. childproofing.. Wardrobe in the master bedroom.. carpenter needs to change the drawers.. Dunno why he decided to make the openings so BIG.. irritated.. Wardrobes are kept white for all the bedrooms.. They are my blank canvases for stickers! And we have full height bookshelf for the study minus the sliding doors.. and of course the wooden frame for the window minus the glass.. More pictures coming up later..

Actually.. its supposed to be grey.. but it had a slightly blue tinge to it.. so after it was tiled over a large area.. it looked a little bit greyish blue.. Once the reno is complete.. my hubby will take out his dusty DSLR to take better photos in more HD colors.. Will probably help you see the colors better..

Painting and Lights installation part 2 Paint is up and the remaining lights has been installed! Colors chosen as follows: - Living and dining: Snowfield - Masterbedroom and study: Swandown - Baby's room: Mint You should be able to see the paint colors of the wall in the light pictures.. so I'll just post the mint color walls for the baby room pictures here Ordered 3 types of lights from taobao.. 1 for dining, 1 for the study and a pair of wall lamps for the master bedroom.. Managed to install only 2 out of 3 because 1 of the lights CMI.. *face palm* Word of advice.. if ordering stuff from China.. do not get items with moving parts unless you know for a fact that the seller you're ordering from is skilled with moving parts.. The lights I wanted were all artemide replicas and artemide's tolomeo range of lights had a lot of joints and movable parts.. we took a chance and ordered it.. here's what it looks after installation Dining.. This one wasn't as bad.. you could still pull the light up and down and swing it around.. but the base plate was made of very flimsy metal and when you pulled at the light, the metal plate would wobble.. have to ask my contractor to drill 2 more holes in the base plate of the light and screw the plate securely to the ceiling.. Bedroom.. This one had no problems at all.. finishing was quite good too.. kinda expected since of all the lights.. this one had the least number of moving parts This would have been how my study light looked if we had installed it.. My poor study light.. BUANG! Most number of moving parts of the 3 lights.. finishing was awful and wasn't even consistent across the whole light.. And when you pulled at the lamp shades it wouldn't stay in place.. ARGH.. wasted money So now I have to find another light for the study.. guess I'll be getting my rectangle light after all.. have to spend more money after wasting my money on the buang light..

It happens to the best of us..

Hi just4fun.. There's only 2 toilets.. The second toilet pic is a comparison pic of before and after
-
Hi macuser! No worries.. There's always ur next house tp renovate!! Haha
-
Toilets So after the lights were installed.. it was time to put in the toilet bowls.. Let me just say here that the guy who planned the pipings in the flat is an idiot.. and I blame HDB! I mean who places the WC stop valve so close to the sewage hole??? It makes it near impossible to install most of toilet bowl designs which usually has a solid flat back that aligns with the wall.. Just look at this.. See what I mean? Although our toilet bowl had a little bit of clearance at the back (It curves a little and doesn't totally lay flat against the wall), it wasn't enough for the darned protruding valve.. So we had to frantically rush back to the shop that we bought the bowl from to see if they had another design that would work with our toilet setup and see if they were willing to do an exchange.. When we got there.. THERE WAS ONLY 1 FREAKING BOWL THAT FIT THE CRITERIA! 1 ONLY!! And I had to top up an additional 100 plus for this new bowl times 2 since I also had to change the bowl in the master bedroom toilet.. grrrrr I guess I should be thankful that we managed to find a replacement bowl that worked.. otherwise we could kiss our money goodbye.. So this is how our toilet looks now..

You're probably right.. I wasn't totally sure whether the herf was a form of laminate flooring.. I thought the guy said it was.. but then again its feel is alot closer to vinyl..
-
Yup its laminate flooring but its thicker than the regular laminate so its solid with no cracking and creaking sound when u walk.. Plus its 100% waterproof.. And can be installed without skirting.. Im not sure about other brands of high resilient flooring but the one i have is installed without adhesive.. It has grooved edges so u just join 2 pieces together and click it in place and continue like that through out the whole floor.. You can check out the evorich website for the details..
-
Yup yup it is!! Thought it was easier to match with furniture.. we nearly went with the oak medium cos it looked warmer.. but chose this in the end.. Yours is the high resilient flooring too right?
-
I bought it at Modulux along jalan besar.. but I saw these milo tin lights in many of the lighting shops along there.. They come in 3 sizes.. small medium and large.. The ones in my toilet are the small ones.. the ones in the kitchen are the medium ones..

For BTO flats.. all the lighting points are pre-fixed (you're right).. so for those people who install false ceiling.. the electrician will just pull and extend the wires out to the points where lights and fans are going to be installed then everything is hidden by the false ceiling.. For people who don't want false ceiling.. the electrician will cut a thin channel from the original point in the ceiling to the point where you're installing the light or fan.. then the channel and original point is then patched back with plaster and painted over.. Its the same method they use when you want to move your power points or tv points in your wall.. From the start of the reno till now.. my lighting points have shifted 2 or 3 times already.. as my contractor always says "you want to change? No problem!" hah

Lighting installation part 1 continued Crestar fans.. the drop is a lot lower than I expected.. but I still need to stand on tip toe in order to touch the light of the fan.. And not forgetting the ikea light for my little boy's room..
-
Lighting installation part 1 So I had decided on the artemide lightings for my dining, study and bedroom wall lights and since I wasn't made of money.. I ordered the replicas from taobao instead.. the rest of my lights were ordered locally.. The lights shown here are the ones I had ordered locally.. All my lights are surface lights cos I had no false ceiling.. I decided on 2 black "milo tin" lights for my kitchen.. 3 black box spot lights for my living room and corridoor.. 1 rectangle light for my study (its not here yet so its not installed).. 2 white "milo tin" lights for my toilets.. and 1 white twin spotlights from philips.. all spotlights are of course LED.. and last but not least 3 crestar fans with lights as well (they were on offer!) Here's what it looks like: Corridoor spotlight.. switched on to test its brightness.. very nice.. Living room spotlights.. couldn't switch on yet.. but still nice... Kitchen lights.. I've always thought the milo tin lights had potential to make design statements.. Toilet light.. showing only common toilet here.. but its the same setup in the master.. And the twin spotlights from philips.. I love these spots a lot..

Yeah.. keeping fingers crossed that things will continue to be smooth..

Lights I have been poisoned.. utterly poisoned I tell you! This gorgeous artemide tolomeo mega wall lamp would look so fantastic as a dining room light Not to mention these little small wall bedside lamps..

Walls and Flooring Once all the wet works were completed.. it was time to make way for the dry works.. First up.. partitions!!! Did up a looong partition stretching from the front entrance all the way to the window.. smooths out the original kink and its great for hiding all the cables from my home theatre system.. Then another partition in the master bedroom too.. again.. for the tv and hiding of wires.. The kitchen partition was requested for by my hubby.. he didn't like the original tiles and since he didn't wanna spend more tiling over such a large area.. he just requested for another partition to hide the tiles.. Then we have the flooring! Ah.. flooring.. byebye raw looking cement.. hello new york apartment... With the same flooring stretching across the whole house.. it really created a loft apartment feel to it..
