  2. Oh..yah less rooms less lights thus less pricy... mine got 4 rooms and a L-shaped living room... wah... broke... btw kitchen only can have one lighting point har? cos my kitchen abit long, wonder if one light is bright enough... or like you said get a long rectangular one to spread the light (save electric, save $$)
  3. wah...you can spend within 1k! very good leh! After yesterday's tour I roughly estimate how much I will spend, it cost me around 1k+ Never know that lights can be so expensive... Thanks for sharing your pics! very nice leh after it is all put up... noticed you use the rectangular lighting for the kitchen... am thinking of that too...
  4. Yah lor...no choice leh... but then also worry if its ok to remove it... sigh... Last weekend went to look for lightings... the designs available in Singapore like not alot leh... all looks very similar...price wise also very ex... are all lights so ex? Went to the few recommended stores listed in RenoTalk like Chan Huat, Lightology, etc... Where else do you get the lights from?
  5. Thanks cornetto! Finally collected my keys and today reno starts... Yesterday went to open the door with fruits and sprinkle rice and salt. After that, we took back the fruits when we left... is that ok? Cos today reno starts and we are afraid it may hinder their work...
  6. thanks for the tips, cornetto! is there a rule on when to open the door? e.g. certain time can open door, certain time cannot.... is there such rule?
  7. Hi Mr Chong, We are planning for our AD on the 16th of June this year and we can only get our keys to our house on the 9th of May. It will be a rush reno for us in order to get the house ready for our wedding. Contractor has told us is possible to finish up before our wedding as we have very minor to do. Would appreciate your precious advise on the following: 1) 4pm on 9th of May is our key collection, after that will be evening, can we perferm house opening in the evening? 2) Can we perform Dong Tu the next day morning and then immediately start reno? 3) Since our wedding is on 16th, does that means that is the move-in date for us? 4) Can we deliver all our furniture before our wedding day e.g. beginning of June, and also move in our stuffs? Is there any ritual require for the furniture move-in? 5) When is it considered as move-in? Many thanks in advance. cheers! luppy

  13. oh... how much was your fridge and washing machine?
  14. All, thanks for the tips... Never know that harvey norman can bargain one.... will try it out end of the month.... Gain city, I heard, some of the products are made in china that's why so cheap... is that true?
  15. Actually i got the info from a friend saying there is cheap so went there last weekend with my parents to have a look. The salesperson quite nice though and he thought us how to buy fridge and washing machine. The Mits fridge that we are eyeing is cheaper compared to Besk Benki. But as for the samsung washing machine, is comparable to Best Denki and we are thinking of getting fridge from HL and washing machine from Best. Saw the thread regarding HL and quite a lot of bad comments in there.....now i wonder if i should get from there... audio house, goh ah bee, mega,...where are these shops located? Anyone knows? And where did you get your fridge and washing machine?
  16. date of collection of keys is getting nearer... feeling excited about it... now looking around for electrical appliances... does anyone know if the electrical applicances shop at Alexandra cheap? The shop is located at Bukit Merah Lane 1 and its name is Hong Liang Electrical Enterprise...anyone bought anything from there before?

  18. hi cornetto... the warehouse sale was at Benoi Rd (Boon Lay area). It was very hot and humid...the sales people are perspiring like mad and so are we... the last day of the sale was yesterday...we know about it through the newspaper... yeah...we went to have a look at one of the house renovated by our contractor...not too bad...we just made our selection on what type of lamination we want for some of the stuffs required for our reno....
  19. Hi Hi.... Did anyone went to the harvey norman warehouse sale? prices over there for everything looks pretty good but they do delivery within this month and i haven't even get my keys...so sad.... For electrical appliances, where do you normally buy from? Do you always go for warehouse sale to get good bargains?
  20. storeberry me stay at cck ave 2 near cck mrt....abt 5-8mins walk Odielim thanks for the link... i'll take a look....
  21. wow....thanks for all the feedback... already starting to learn alot now... Odielim never tot about writing it down, taking torchlight and taking pictures till you mentioned... i better start preparing for that to prevent tai chi furniture wise, i have already ordered the basic stuffs like sofa, dining table and chairs, bed (mattress and frame) and coffee table electronic stuffs haven't get yet.... yeah.... have to be friend friend with contractor so that things will work out fine.... that's what i think... Homeowner hmm...if wiw have to be wooden guess i have to get the dehumidifiers jessi i can't really imagine how the poles wiw will look like... cos half of the room is wiw and half of it is study... Cantona7 my wiw will be around the toilet... dunno will be moist or not...hmm kitchen wise, i think no matter how much you pay it still looks the same, sq sq or rectangular rectangualr...hee that's what i think lah... at most the material is better that's why so ex... storeberry hi hi... your lovenest is in yee tee right? maybe next time can meet up yeah... later i go check out your site... thanks
  22. Thanks, Cantona7! Agree with you... have to keep reminding the contractor of our deadline and also try not to change the design too often... we didn't actually change much though. I have a problem now where i can imagine how my wiw and kitchen will look and what sorts of materials will give what sort of looks as well.... i see everyone seems so experience so knowledgable of what they are looking for... sometimes is quite confusing because everyone is giving different opinions... so for me, am still bumping around to gather info and see how it goes... btw, i read in the WIW forum mentioning that wood is not recommended cos is near toilet and is quite moisturising to the wiw but some say is ok. One way to tackle is to use the hippo thingy... so is wood actually suitable for wiw?
  23. ahh... thanks... never know that we need to check BTU for aircon.... pple only tell me which brand is good and which is not. I'm thinking of getting those recommended... I heard system 4 is not powerful, that's all I know and since we are merging 2 rooms to 1, we are getting system 3. That's what we have decided so far... yeah, i agree, the deadline is extremely intensely tight and everyone has advised us to monitor as closely as possible to prevent slipping of the deadline. i guess fabrication is to be done before we get the house key. We are now meeting up the contractor quite often to have discussion and also started looking for tiles and stuffs that he required, so that he can order and get ready before reno starts (that's what he said). We have brought the contractor to the place to have a look and have a feel. Some parts we have taken measurements but i guess we have to go back again to take some other measurements since we have changed our design recently. Yeah, i do agree the design on paper is not accurate and the contractor did warn us on that. well... we are changing to stainless steel, if i remembered correctly. We will also do lighting selection either this week or next. Materials for flooring, we have already selected the tiles we wanted but laminations wise we haven't select yet. Colours to paint our house is not selected yet as well. Electrical works, we have already told him we need 3 scv points and he has estimated how many points we need. Guess these few weeks will be busy selecting the design and colors of the house so that he can order the materials and start preparing earlier. really stress and worried though... tentatively putting wedding stuffs on hold to settle the house first... sigh.... I already have wrinkles, now starting to get more manz....think i need plastic surgery after this if i strike toto/4D.... haa...
