Master bathroom .. still very messy. Love my high ceiling, but it will have to be covered up because of the pipes. My lava stone hanging around drying. can see my common bathroom wall from my master bathroom window. heehee Concealed bath system in the wall.. hope it lasts and lasts and don't give me any problems please. And my nice niche at the bottom, so that I can put all my shampoos and stuff. The ID moved it down because he didn't want the hand shower hose blocking part of the niche and getting tangled in my bottles. Thoughtful of him.- 337 replies

Went to my place during lunch to look at the awning sample pieces. Leaning towards just removing the entire blue awning and replacing it with something.. less blue. Will cost more, waiting for my ID to come back with a quote. Money flying away again. Very pleased with my brick wall which is coming up. My door is back in! They recut it so that it can open properly with the brick wall behind it. Yay.. I can go and view the place again at night when no one else is around. My ID says he opened a hole between the bricks and put tubing down so that when we mount the TV on the wall, the cables can go through that tube and down below on the free standing console that we will buy. Goodie.. no wires hanging around collecting dust.- 337 replies

Hmm.. if induction cooker doesnt create so much smoke and grease.. maybe i can use induction instead. Do you have a hood? Is it necessary when you use induction cooker?- 337 replies

Thank you! you've been helpful. I'm also having open concept kitchen, and the kitchen area is in a very badly ventilated area, no windows and at a corner. But we don't intend to cook much at all, so I think we may not need such a powerful hood? Looks like you and mr merry intend to do serious cooking.

Going to see the progress on my place during lunch time. So excited. But have to rush out and back, because my department usually don't get lunch out, so they will be shorthanded when I'm out. SIgh.. feel like I need 3 months leave to do house.- 337 replies

Haha.. yes! I also keep wanting to go down. But restricted to only going down when workers are around now and I can't get away from work to go recently. At least next time i go, there'll be more things to see i guess. Congrats on your renovation starting Makanology! Take lots of pictures! I use my phone for all the pictures, sometimes not very clear, but better than nothing.- 337 replies

Should we take the darkest one at the right most side? Seems very dark. Scared my living room will become dark. But the one right next to it, can still see the blue tinge. Howww?- 337 replies

Brick wall coming up in my living room. (photo fr htb.. i didn't manage to go today ) It will be painted white. We did consider leaving it in its original color, but htb felt that since the other walls are white, just let it be painted white also then everything looks bigger and more spacious. The brick wall caused us some headaches, because the open net point had to be shifted and we had to have 2 appointments made for the open net technicians to come. First time to take out the point and leave it hanging. Second time will be when brick wall is all up and they can fix it in the new position. Each time they come, it costs money. More money than i want to pay. And its frustrating talking to them. They all talk in heavily accented english that's so hard to understand. Zzzzzz point to be moved from where it is.. to where my dear ID is pointing.- 337 replies

No la.. i totally understand where you are coming from. At first I also worried, normal to be worried that ID or contractor will try to be funny... just that after some time, I feel he is really okay, so i trust him. The temporary door they put up is those very thin plywood doors.. with a tiny little lock.. i think if i kick it, it will fall down and i'm just 43kg. Been busy trying to find the hob and hood and sink, etc, so havent had time to go down. But my htb has gone down during lunch time right now. He sent me some photos. Shall post them soon. Was talking to a friend, and he says the most impt part to look out for is the piping. He says must check to see if they use good quality pipes and also if they lay it properly and sensibly according to gravity. But htb and me know ntg about this , don't know where to start looking. Anyone experienced problems before?- 337 replies

Its been slightly less than 1 month since my ID started work on my place. We got the keys on 1st April and he started work before 2nd week of April. I'm still very excited but the costs are really starting to set in. So many things to buy and so little time to decide. My ID keep chasing me.. first for tiles.. then for bathroom stuff.. then aircon.. now he's chasing me for hob, hood, kitchen sink, master bathroom vanity.. Other than kitchen sink, we aren't close to deciding yet. Have to go and see ceaserstone for their bathroom vanity, hopefully it will be cheaper than silestone and as nice. Haven't seen the place for 1 week. They took the main door out, to recut it, because my living room wall is going to be bricked up, so the main door wont be able to swing open with the bricks behind it (real bricks! I've always loved the brick look.) They put a temporary door there with a small lock, that i dont have the key to, so i can only go in when the workers are in. No more going in after work.- 337 replies

Thank you! Yeah he uses his big eyes to look at me sadly when he wants snacks. Works on my mum and grandma.. not so much on me. Immune alrdy. Still have small headache on lighting. Afraid the house will be too dark cuz its alot of cove lighting and some track lights so far. The rest are more ambiant lights.. pendant lights and lamps.- 337 replies

Thank you for your encouragement =) My parents and his parents horrified by our choice to hack up the marble and cement screed living room and kitchen. My grandma say.. if this is in fashion, maybe next year, mud floors will be in fashion. interestingly, she says when she was young, she help neighbors do cement screeding also, ask me if I want her to help I just keep quiet. I think some IDs and contractors are afraid of offending us, so whatever we suggest, they say its nice. My ID is the opposite. Sometimes we are afraid of asking him if we can do something different, afraid he will be like

Haha.. yeah. He's the love of my life. I am thinking of adopting another dog, so that he will have some company when me and htb goes to work. At my current place, my grandma comes to my place to take him out in the mornings cuz she loves him too. But once I move, i think she won't come over very often. Actually, am abit nervous about moving out and all. Stayed with my mum all my life, now suddenly going to move away from her, quite scary and still getting used to the idea. At least I'll have my doggie. I'm actually seriously considering induction and ceramic cooker now. Would you mind telling me what you bought and how you find it please? No hood is okay?- 337 replies

Yeah.. i'm okay with cracks.. just hopefully not huge ones. hairline cracks are okay. but am more worried about the powdery feel cuz i dont like my feet feeling dirty. My ID said matt because we are ground floor unit, heat will come up from ground and he wants our cement screed to have room to breathe. He says if cover up with lacquer or epoxy, the cracks will be worse in future. He did mention he will buff it down with some machine to cut down on the powdery feeling and make the surface more smooth. I really love your floor.
-
Sorry, am very excitable by cement screed floors. Am doing it for my place too and have been warned by many people that its hard to maintain and will feel powdery. Esp cuz my ID says to do matt and not have a layer of epoxy or lacquer over it.
-
I love your cement screed floor! Gorgeous! Is it matt? Does it feel abit powdery?
