If i am not wrong, 1st Bali bombing was in Oct 03, 2nd bombing was in Oct 05. I was there in Jul 04, oops should be almost 3 years liao. No, Indonesians are not desperate and scary. In fact, I think they are one of the friendliest having stayed in Indonesian for abt a year many years back. Used to like places like the beaches in Pattaya and Phuket, similar to Kuta Beach. Mayb now old liao, prefer quiet places. Btw, tsunami was in Sumatra leh, not Bali leh.

But he did say that 4-rm used to be abt $650 but now increased due to the sand ban thing. So it is also likely that my potential ID did not jack up their price by much. With the signing of the extradiction and defence pact btw Sin and Indon recently, lets hope that this sand and granite ban thing may blow over soon.

Lcd Turnable 180deg
TYM replied to Vessel's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
Seems quite challenging. Oh, actually mean smaller than 32 inch for the same Sharp model to put in MBR. -
Prefer the single seater from Lush. Have not asked about the price but understand it is about 600+, without foot rest. Saw the single seater at V.Hive at Thomson Plaza yes'd but leather quality not so good. Saw a single seater at Castilla in Park Mall and the price is a 2k. But the leather is very comfy. In the end, may not get cos of space constraints. My pigeon hole very tiny nia.

Went to Bali almost 2 years ago with my gf. Originally was supposed to be a 3D2N free and easy but when we reached there, we decided to extend to 5D4N cos we really liked the serenity of the place. Stayed at Alila Manggis and the service was excellent. Unlike the Kuta Beach area which for me was noisy and rowdy, Alila Manggis was setting was both quiet and private. We spent our time have spa and massages, relaxing by the hotel's pool reading and sun-bathing, dinner at Nusa Dua, and visited many of their cultural places in Eastern Bali. We also hired a vehicle with a private guide to go up Mount Agong, and had lunch up in the mountian with a wonderful view. My gf also joined in the free yoga classes offered by the hotel which was held by the sea. All in all, we spent the 5 days relaxing and recharging. We did not do any shopping, in fact we did not do much but yet thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Haha, sorry for the KPO. Btw, how is your LCD turnable now? Went to meet up with my potential ID yes'd and told him about this but was advised that is is a nice feature to have but may not be durable. As for the Sharp TV, like the sleek outlook and am also thinking of getting the Sharp piano-finished audio system rack, thereby doing away with a TV console. But a pity the TV does not come in a smaller size than 32'', wanted to get same for MBR. -

Oh is it, pai seh pai seh, did not see you. Family outing yes'd. Btw, it's almost mid-May, so have you decided on your ID? -
Me too. As you mentioned, the installation is so so OK and you did not mention anything about the quality of the cabinets, which I assumed you are also quite OK. So it looks like all is pretty well, not exactly a nightmare. Hey Chunky Monkey, how is the condition of your relative's Ikea kitchen cabinet since it was installed 2 years ago? Just want to have a feel of its durability since Ikea is giving 10 years guarantee to its kitchen cabinet.

Ya, was there yes'd to discuss about the space planning and the first quotation. Still have not decided whether or not to go with United as we still waiting for another quotation from another ID. Will only decide when we got our keys and physically see the place. Otherwise, will most probably not source for anymore ID, tiring to go thru the same process and again. -
Saw it at Lush

My unit is facing that direction, can't wait to get the keys. Btw, anybody read the papers few days ago? 4-rm resale flat in Strathmore selling at 400K! Highest in town! More than twice that a of 4-rm flat in Yishun. Valuation and transaction for resale flats in Queenstown area is the highest in town due to our favourable location and tight supply. Which means on paper, everyone of us here is already making a profit. Congrats! -

KDK and National is still the best, reliable, strong and quiet. Whatever it is, dun buy those cheap fans in NTUC or Carrefour that comes in a box, breakdown easily.

Read from somewhere that the ideal size of a TV is based on the distance the sofa is from the TV. This distance is based on the formula 2.5 X size of TV (eg 42") = 105" = 2.67m Therefore to watch a 42' TV comfortably, your sofa should be at least 2.67m from the TV.

Why keep the toilet close or purposely build something to hide it? Why not reno the toilet nice nice and keep the door open, at the same time improve air circulation for hygiene purpose.

United Team Lifestyle
TYM replied to Desmond's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
Hi Desmond, Found this thread on United. Finally decided to go down yes'd. Walked into their shop, look look see see and was approached by a staff. Turned out that he was a partner of United. His name is also Desmond. Chatted for a while about our budget, needs and some techincality of some reno materials. He took a look at our floor plan, and went thru some intial space planning. He said it was quite challenging as our unit was small and he wanted to do something to make it look spacious. He proposed that we give him some time, set up an appointment, and he will come back with a plan and intital quotation. At this moment, we were quite happy as United is the first ID (after speaking to so many) that actually intiated to set up an appt with us (given our small budget and our plan not to have too much customisation and carpentry). They were also not pushy, did not tell us to pay $500 or $1000 to see 3D drawing unlike some superbrands ID firm. And so it is, will be meeting him up again next week. After we left, he called me back twice to check on some details before he start to plan. So far, our experience with them has been a positive one although we have not seen their proposal yet. Btw, how was your second discussion? Have you decided on them or still considering? -

Hi, also saw their designs in mag and quite like it. Even thou the reno cost featured in the mag was over my budget, still decided to go down to their office to check it out yes'd. Unfortunately, the office was not open (did not call them prior before going down). Btw, have u approached them? How was the service, design and quotation? May call them up to make an appt and go down again next weekend? -
Ya, dun pray pray. Better get HDB approval whether is it subletting whole unit or just a room. Else HDB and the taxman will come after you.
