I'm beginning to have doubts about Gain City. I recently purchased a system 2 because their sales dude claimed that the utility room of our 3I cannot install split unit. (We initially wanted a system 3) We then found out from our HDB technical officer that it can be done, just that Gain City has to apply for a permit to drill the wall in between the utility room and WC. In order to save that hassle, they were adament that "utility room cannot install one! If can, of course I will want to earn more $$ by selling you extra unit, but the problem is, we cannot install... Don't believe, ask your HDB tech officer lor". (In the words of another Gain City salesman) -

Hi Lilyden, your layout is exactly the same as our new home, a HDB 3I and I noticed that you have an AC in your utility room. I bought a Mitsubishi System 2 from Gain City (1 for the living room and the other for master bedroom) as they told me utility room cannot install AC unit, is this true? My ID said it can be done, so said the HDB techinical officer he contacted, However, Gain City insisted it is a no-go, I'm like totally confused -
Thank you for sharing the photos, Summersan! Gorgeous home you have and such an inspiration!

Really appreciate the updates on budget, it gave a sense of the estimated cost of renovation for a 3I. My husband and I spoke to 2 IDs- 1st ID CMI! Specifically told him/her our preference, yet continue to show us their portfolio of exactly what we don't want and keep emphasizing "i know exactly what you want..." . We really like the 2nd ID and will be meeting them this week to check out their proposal. In the meantime, still waiting for our 1st appointment date, our seller's seller is soooooo slow!

My husband and I also exercised our OTP last week too on a 3I! We too, have a small budget for the renovations as most of our savings will go into down payment and COV of the house. I've also start reading up on IDs and contractors but haven't really contact any. Due to the nature of our situation, we will only expect to get keys to the house ~ August- early Sep. Do you think it is too early to start speaking to IDs? Anyhow, congratulations on your purchase and looking forward to read your reno journey!
