After a few rounds of discussion with my wifey... We have decided to have a cement concrete top for the kitchen... My wifey is afraid of water seeping into the cabinet and caused the wood to rot over time... Anyway, we are going for cement screed wall, so the kitchen top should match... So, went to Soon Bee Huat to choose the homogenous tiles for the top and side of the concrete block... First time being to soon new huat and was immediately overwhelmed by the huge selection of tiles in that place... After more than 1 hour of grueling experience (for me, see the tiles until my vision becomes blur) because I am just accompany her as the kitchen top is her territory and it is just for a small area... Finally, we or rather she has decided on a 60x60 grey colored homo tiles (suggestion from Jiawei) and hopefully, 1 piece is enough to cover the side and 2-3 pieces for the top so that there will be lesser grout lines to take care of in the future... (Initially I wanted to tile the concrete block with red tiles but was rejected outright.... Should be quite nice what! Grey with red) With the tiles for the concrete block being finalize, the concrete block will be constructed before the laying of the peranankan tiles so as to protect these delicate tiles from damaged or being stained during the Reno process... So the place will become out of bound until end of Reno... Hehe...

Hi June, Wow... Noted... I will go around and knock on the tiles... As for the tiles discolouration, you check after acid wash right??? Now, there are footprint all over and can't really differentiate the color... Thanks for the advice...

Hi Lala, This is not my first time buying from insani... The previous experience is good. The product reached my place within 2 weeks... However, this time round seem to be slightly longer though... Maybe I bought more items this time round??? Will keep you updated... Btw, I only buy items that are in stock / immediately available...

After 2 weeks of renovation, the whole process is still pretty smooth sailing up till now... The only problem I faced is the presence of a stupid stiffener in between the kitchen and the service yard... As a result, need to modify the design a little bit ... Sad thing aside, tiling has begun for the past 2 weeks and thanks to Jiawei, who really inspect and give us updates on the progress as me and my wifey, like most people in this forum, tied up at work.... Can't take leave as need to save up for year end honey moon Room tiles will be the same for all... MIL asked us "这块砖看起来脏脏，红红的?" Looks 肮脏= clean lesser Living Hall - Kitchen will be cement tiles all the way The wall where the brick wall will be up and opposite of the brick wall will be the bookshelve.... Hopefully, everything will turn out fine... Next week will be the installation of the air con and city gas .... By the way, all these photos are taken by Jiawei, my photos are night shots using my phone and not that nice, don't dare to post them.... Just to check, may i know what to lookout for when checking the tiles????? TIA....

I also faced with the same issue. The wall between the service yard and the kitchen was hacked but the pillar stands in the way and as a result, we could not achieve the full flush of the kitchen flooring as planned...

Oh.. Initially I ask my MIL whether she would like to tear down the rack in my store room so that she can sell the metal (by the way, my MIL takes up garang guni as a hobby)... So she say okay and she went ahead the next day when both my wifey and I were at work... My wifey messaged me in the evening that her mum had removed all the grills by herself on that day... I was like shocked because the grills were not just removed from the track but also from the house... A total of 10 panels at least... Really 巾帼不让须眉... Even Jiawei was taken by surprise when we told him that our MIL removed the grills by herself as he knows it is not a easy job...

Another wonderful thing happened...Initially, the window grills left by the previous owner are really ugly, not suitable to our theme.... However, due to very tight budget, we chose to keep the window grills as my mum worried about the safety of our future offspring...., Then, i found out that my mother in law single-handedly removed all the window grills by herself.... About 10 panels at least for all the window by mistake ... I really wonder how did she manage to do that as the window grills are quite heavy...... And the BEST part is, she promised to pay for our house new window grill ... Must salute her!! The picture of the window grill Haha.. will meet up with the representative of Peng Giap on sat to discuss about the slim window grill that offered by the company... Is it good???? Any feedback??? The window can be customised though... I read from the forum that the company is quite good! shall see...

Anyway, these tiles only be used as a feature....and i have decided to use the smaller version of the glossy white tiles for my MBR toilet.... AHHHH.... ...... My wifey also want a bookshelves for her collection of books.... I am thinking of a fireplace bookshelves..... Inspired by this picture... My cooking hob and the lamp i bought from taobao will arrive on sat.... Tiles not even lay yet but all the stuffs are reaching soon.... Now, have to keep at my in law place temporary....

Finally, after almost 3 weeks of waiting, my reno has started.......It was delayed due to the re-submission for the hacking permit to include the hacking of the wall between the service yard and the kitchen.... Now, the first unfortunate thing happened... the stiffener cannot be hacked .... I was given a false hope when the hacker talked to Jiawei that the stiffener can be hacked away and today, he says that it cannot be hacked ... Nevertheless... we do have plan B... That is to lay a wooden plank between the stiffener and the wall.. My wifey brilliant idea as she want to seat on the ledge while waiting for the food to be cooked, eg, maggie mee, and she is very proud of it.... The picture of the stiffener Yesterday, my wifey and I have a meeting with Jiawei to finalize on the selection of the toilet wall tiles. Now, kinda stuck between the two types of tiles White hexagonal glossy tiles Black hexagonal matt tiles quite worried about water stain mark for the Matt black tiles and the shop doesn't carry glossy black hexagonal tiles How??? Anyway, Jiawei mention that he has hand over all the project on hand and the next project starts in June... So he can focus fully on mine Hopefully, everything will turn out well!!
