  1. Hi Mavi, When you sign the contract with Starcool, did you manage to state in the contract on the materials used? Like for example, -1/2 inch rubber insulation for G23 copper pipe -16mm diameter PVC pipe -Wire standards I was thinking of just taking up Gain City offers for system 4.
  2. Just a query. You bought the Philips E27 downlight at tabao-peeka too? I thought about getting that too instead of LED downlight..
  3. Please consider MyRepublic. They have 1GBPS fibre package for $50-60. They also have this feature called Teleport that allows you to access US websites like Netflix/Hulu without any configuration.
  4. Just make another separate carpentry to store your switch and router. Have good air circulation so parts wont heat up. You will be mounting the patch panel on the wall or on the carpentry?
  5. Keep up the good work mavi. This is my most favourite blog of all and I am following it closely as I learn many network related stuff. With abundant lan points, you can take advantage of smart tvs and NAS.
  6. Yeah no wonder its cheap. Can pm me your contractor?
  7. Projector has VERY BIG screens but not really high definition compared to TV. The projector also have a 'lamp life' which you need to change your lamp. TV is honestly better. Faster boot up time. Projector like need to wait for it to turn fully on.
  8. Hey buddy.. Your quote is very cheap when compared to other quotes. For eg, based on my observation and short research.. Solid surface top: $70-120 per ft Kitchen cabinet: $120 per ft Paint 4 room whole house 5 color: $1300-1500 Watch out for materials and workmanship. Its a bit on the "very cheap" end I believe.
  9. Mavi, when will you start with your networking plan? After hacking or after false ceiling? Still interested in your networking plans. Hahaha.
  10. Thanks for the honest comments abt Mr K. I knew he was extremely famous to the point where his service/quality might be impacted.
  11. One look at the pics and i feel your house have this Europe-ish feeling. Until u mentioned u travel to Europe regularly. Not bad! Although Paris houses are way smaller.
  12. Yes correct. It is usually 10-40-40-10 or 10-40-45-5 or somewhere near.
  13. I must say your contractor did a splendid job in this. Not even an ID but the carpentry works looks great from the pictures.
  14. Great great! Wish you all the best in your reno!
  15. Hey, dont get too worked up on choosing ID. Im sure this is the most stressful and confusing part. Cant wait to see your excel sheet esp the price per feet. I keep mine but several items are missing.
  16. Great u found your ID. Is it the on that you PM me?
  17. Hi, thanks for the sample prices.
  18. I thought the SCDF would have commisioned the household shelter when HDB gave out the keys to the flat. How come there was another inspection?
  19. Hey thanks for the explanation. It is better to run 6 cables for 6 points rather than running 2 cables with 6-ports switches. Thanks man. That's a very good site! But can we find something similar in Sim Lims for the HDMI splitter with the remote thingy.
  20. Thanks for the explanation. I'm clear on your internet setup. Just not clear in cable TV setup as I am not familiar. Don't mind the basic questions on cable TV. 1. Is it possible to use 1 setup box to play the same stream to 2 TV? ie. to say someone's watching the SAME channel on the kitchen and another person is watching in the living room. 2. How does the contractor lay the coaxial cable point in each room? Does it have to be connected using CAT6 cable from the cabinet (@entrance of the house) to the room? This question is on laying the cat6 cabling. 1. Let's say from the study room (where the 24 ports Switch is), we want 10 connections to MBR. Does that mean we need 10 separate cat6 cable from study room to MBR? Hey kstoh, thanks for the explanation. I read your t-blog but I must have missed the networking portion. Put it simply, switches are meant to be used as plug and play without configurations. A managed switch is a more powerful Switch that you can configure (such as VLANs, VLAN taggings, etc). A quick read on Singtel MioTV suggests that singtel pushes these 4 vlans from the ONT. Vlan 10 - Internet Vlan 20 - MIO Tv Vlan 30 - VoIP Vlan 40 - Management From what I read, the reason why people configure the managed switch is to enable them to use their own router instead of the one given by Singtel.
  21. Hey..how much is the full length mirror and half length mirror u installed in the living room?
