Hi I just bought a five room resale flat, and only have six weeks to complete the reno as i have to move and hand over my own unit seven weeks later. so we need a reliable ID/Contractor who can keep to their schedule without compensating on their quality of work ) am deciding between the quotes of IDEES (You Ting), Koong Yee (Alloysius) and Chng Poh Guan (Derrick). Does anyone have comments on the quality and speed of their renovation works? We dont have a lot of carpentry, mainly kitchen and bay window cabinets. The rest is tiling, painting, and constructing one room. So far we have had quite good discussion with Koong Yee, except that their quote is generally higher than the rest of the quotes. Just like to hear some opinions if any. Thanks so much

Design Headache - Kitchen Mobile Unit With Drawers
beivied replied to Chunky Monkey's topic in Carpentry Works
hi hi .. in the end i really forgot to come back to this thread.. ;p the brand that does the mobile kitchen unit is www.bulthaup.com/ ... 5 digit damage, probably as much as your whole house reno. -
hi hi .. i have a problem with tracking threads that i have posted on this forum .. anyway i have seen two projects by mr low, one residential and one commercial.. although i wont say his workmanship is superb, i think it is reasonably good enuff for me, and his no frills attitude, straightforward personality suit myself and my hubby pretty well, so we have engaged his services and just started the reno works so happy to get things going, hehe

Design Headache - Kitchen Mobile Unit With Drawers

actually my fiance is interested in such a kitchen cabinet too think he will click well with your hubby, haha.. i have seen in a magazine before that there is this kitchen cabinet that can make shift.. i will go home and find it i remember it will cost a lot though. do pm me if i forget to reply! -
Hi Safer, I did meet up with Mr Low today and asked him .. he mentioned that actually they came from the same company in the past .. but they do not work together... and from what I have read around, he seems to have built a better reputation for himself than the other Boon Siew.. When you guys approach contractors, would you be worried about why they are so much cheaper and also the communication part throughout the reno process? A lot of people say that it is hard to deal with contractors, a lot of hidden stuff especially when we are not in the line and do not understand a lot of things.. ?
-
hi all, i just got a quote from Mr Low too, which was a contrast of about sgd12k from two other IDs quote. And people warn me seriously about using contractors.. and I heard Boon Siew closed down more than once and reopened again in the last few years.. so got me rather wary ... anyone heard of anything like that too, and people who have used boon siew recently, how was your experience? thanks... this whole reno thingie is exhausting.. and i have not even started... !

i happen to have looked around for induction hobs before.. cant remember the exact price, but i do recall that ariston's cheaper... saw it at mayer.. if thats of any help at all..

errr.. dont think my fiance is more chin chai than me... more picky i think .hehehe.. our current ID has changed our layout (space planning) by no less than five times in the last two months, and now that we have just gotten our keys, we want to change the layout again, as we have change of plans... but if there are some parts that we have doubts, we would ask if this can be done in the future if we need it. if the answer is yes, we have opted to leave some out until the time when we decide. e.g. one room will be left unfurnished, until we decide if it will be parents room or some other activity room. parents havent cfm to stay with us or not. probably just do up the walls, flooring and ordinary lights first. if we cant leave it to the future, then we try to choose the more all-rounded decision, which wouldnt be too much of an eyesore to either of us, in the long term. cant avoid some arguments sometimes, but just need to remember why you are arguing.. to make your home as warm and lovely for each other as possible

The Ceiling Fan Debate
beivied replied to reload72's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
great stuff! my fiance also wants a ceiling fan, which we were also told it is a ID taboo.. but our current ID (fren) has not said so ... , so far. i also dont want to have a standing fan which i very much doubt will blend well into any well designed house, children and pets may knock it over, i dont find it that easy to clean with the metal "cages" that the blades sit in, and probably only half the effect of ceiling fans for cooling.. found this website http://www.g2art.com/sub/Ceilingfans but since i see there is elmark and fanimation, looks like this is not needed here anymore http://www.g2art.com/library/large/Cirque-big.jpg looks cute eh?? -

Anyone Had Ceiling Fan?
beivied replied to Woodlander's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
i intend to have a ceiling fan in the living room too. i think if your light source only comes from one area, the further area may have some flickering shadows.
