Got smses from ID. Said that he will be gg over to place with tiler on Wednesday and tiles should be in by Thursday or Friday. Work can only start on next Monday or Tuesday. I'm fretting cos I'm nt sure since that FH wasn't the one taking in charge and so he feels that he can bully me. Anyway, will be gg over to the house on thurs/fri to make sure tiles are in.

Thanks Relacker. Sorry for the late reply. Will PM you if needed. I'm also slightly happy to report that we have given the ID, the very first cheque. Hopefully, work will start by this week. Still apprehensive about my abilities although FH says that he knows that I can do it. He's gone for reservist liao. Sigh.

haha ! thanks thanks .. so far FH has tried to push for all the paperwork to be done before he go and settle the other stuffs like lighting and electrical points. so i'll just need to oversee the reno. but i tink we'll miss one or two small stuff ..

so much headache. FH is gg to go on reservist in less than 2 weeks time and nw it seems that i will have to oversee the reno. a bit concerned about that as FH was the one who handled the HDB and stuff like that. what if i can't handle it .. what if the ID thinks that i can be pushed around...

i also agree that the laws soemtimes do not protect the consumers as much.. hope something can be done abt it

i mean my ex-ID. they are nt doing my house nw bt can do other ppl's one. anyway, this is wat i heard from another homeowner who was informed by the sub-contractor. so must get concrete proof again then we go IO. still wan to cheat other ppl's money ! so pissed off. i must think of something !

I found out that my ex-ID is still operating ! they have requested reno quotes frm their sub-con. makes me real mad !

things are gg bad for me. i lost my precious o2 mini handphone at Bugis toilet yesterday. the only good news is that my loan is approved. which is a big good news for me. in other fronts, i found out that the my ex-ID is getting reno quotes from their sub-con ! this means that they are still operating in business. makes me fuming mad !

how small a quantity ? nt sure if u can buy a few from tiles shops. and i saw some quite a while ago at Daiso, IMM. Maybe u might want to check it out ?

thanks linda. it's at the jurong area but the guy seem ok plus we've already seen his most most most most recent work at a friend's place gg to go see bathroom tiles today. the one FH wanted no more and have to wait till end of Jul. too late for us so gonna pick another tile

thanks guys. i understand all ur concern and really appreciate it. the lighting and electrical points were actually already half done by the ex-ID. so we already know wat are the limitations if any. also, we have stated everything black and white even up to which brand of solid surface and laminated flooring we'll be using. their earlier payment method is 10% deposit, 40% commencement of wet works, 40% after completion of wetworks and 10% after inspection we changed it to contract to be binding only after bank loan approval. 30% commencement of wet works, 20% one week after commencement of wet works (must have work done or else will nt be given, 40% after completion of all works except carpentry and solid surface, 10% after inspection. i'll type out my quote tonite since a bit busy nw at work.

yea that's them. the one that we approached wasn't that agressive. bt i did see others that seem a little... too eager.

so we did it today. signed with patrick from chew. but we did state a few things for ourselves: contract not binding until approval of bank loan. some changes to the terms as FH was extremely wary abt the payment of loans. after changing and reviewing and double checking of everything, it was signed. wish us luck. if this is not meant to be again, i'll just live in a cardboard box.

Sure.. he's Patrick Siu from Chew Interior. Only concern is price. He recently did a small reno for our ex-colleague which was done pretty good and fast. But he's nt our ID yet. Just one of the considerations... FH wants someone to be the overall in charge as he doesn't want to go through the headache that might be associated with contractors. I could do it, but I don't trust myself considering how previously I was the one who somewhat insisted on that stupid ex-ID.

yah lor. talked to FH bt he hates the peeling that comes with the spray painting. Air (one of the forummers) also advised against the service balcony since there will be heavy workload due to laundry... looks like i have to live with the ugly HDB tiles...
