How Big Is The Diamond On Your Engagement/proposal Ring?
white_affair replied to lynzi's topic in Wedding & Travel
U know, I used to b one of those type that want a diamond ring of a certain size for my proposal ring. Not because I want to "hao lian" or compare but because I have worked in the jewellery line before and over time, you will feel the diamonds looking smaller and smaller cos you are so used to that size.. But when my fiance proposed, all these flew out the window cos its the moment thats impt and not the ring he is proposing with.. I love diamonds and yes, I love big ones... but its no longer impt when the moment arrives.. -

Actually for the finishing, whether shiny or matt, it will look the same as white gold. eventually after scratched, matt also wear off, only thing white gold will turn light yellow. In fact polishing is not exp also.. For how hard platinum is, also depends on how pure it is .. there is PT1000, PT950 and PT900... PT1000 is the hardest..same as white gold but just oppo as the purer gold is, the softer it becomes... If you want fancy design for your rings, it will most prob be in white gold cos not easy to mould.. For me, I also choose white gold for the cost as maintenence is not difficult. Think my wedding bands will use white gold also.. Depends on individual lor. -
How Big Is The Diamond On Your Engagement/proposal Ring?

Platinum is a harder material than gold and it wont turn yellow after time like white gold because gold is actually yellow.. But it can also be resized and wont go out of shape so easily.. But as a personal preference, I choose white gold as its cheaper, can still be polished when yellow and still can be re-shaped easily.. Anyway, I dun do heavy labour or subject my ring to harsh conditions, so it will still last long.. -

Hi, I have a squarish living room and 2 lighting points... I want to hang a chandelier but may do without the false ceiling as my ceiling is only about 2.5m high... Any other way to conceal the wiring?? Is it very ugly to just leave the trunking visible??

Hi itarc, may I know how long ago did you do this cement screed wall before fine cracks start to appear?? Any pictures of your wall?? If yours is like the pictures above (square panels), how about u use each as a frame and mount light weight pictures or paintings in the center?? Or to go with the contrast, mount B&W photos and shine spotlights.. Just my 2 cents worth..

Advise Needed For Ugly Kitchen Window
white_affair replied to gothique's topic in Kitchen & Bathroom
Wah, so many different colours... what was the previous owner thinking?? Like you say, best is to hack into a rectangle opening and replace with glass.. The bar counter sure can hack away one.. if you have money than hack the whole wall away to make an open concept kitchen.. very nice! That pole with a ball on top looks like an over-sized door stopper... haha opps, just realized you said cannot have open concept... But still open concept still can have glass wall one mah.. Like that can keep smoke out when cooking but still make your home look big.. -
Hi all, I've just bought a 4-room flat and already have my ideas and my concept 80% finalised.. Just need a contractor to do the work.. I was wondering if anyone can recommend their contractors?? I haven't decided if I want to look for individual contractors or just 1 main contractor.. Depends on how much time I can spare but would definately appreciate all your help! If you have photos, would love to see them too!! Thanks!!

Hi, is your kitchen cabinets the full length across one wall? Is it full length up to the ceiling? If it is, that means the tiles will only be visible for the column between the top n bottom cabinets rite? If so, why not plaster the whole wall and just use a backsplash? And only do tiling for the other untouched walls. That way in future, if you want to change the kitchen layout, that wall is plastered and tile free.. No need to worry abt obsolete tiles too.. white_affair

Like to share my experience too though this thread seems to have ended.. My previous home which I stayed in since I was born was ok. But after we moved, my mum told us some stories. This happened before I was born. 1) Once she left my sis to play in the room and she was sewing in the MBR, she heard my sis mumbling. When asked, my sis told my mum that there was a horse in the room!! And we were living on the 14th flr! 2) On a later occassion, when my mum was in the MBR, she suddenly heard loud breathing noises like a horse so she just said out loud "pls don't disturb me" and then she heard the galloping sounds to the bathroom.. Always felt the bathroom was very spooky.. Years later, we sold our home to a man .. This is about 15 years ago now.. So co-incidental, the house was later bought by my mum's friend's son.. But she was told when they moved in, the whole place was covered with talisman pastd by the previous owner.. They too felt uneasy living there and moved shortly... The block has now been teared down and a new multi storey carpark has taken its place.. My current home also had many strange happenings when we first moved in.. 1) My sis woke up and saw the creatures standing at the foot of her bed. supposed to be the 2 creatures from ****. 2) My sis was watching "Friends" in the living room. All lights were off. Suddenly she heard my laughter behind her ( between sofa n wall).. but nobody was there and I was sound asleep in my room. 3) When my friends n I were doing project in the balcony, we were quite noisy. Suddenly my friend said "Keep quiet! Someone is not happy" .. and she kept staring into my Living room. She said a man was angry at us for disturbing him .. 4) My fiance was "unable to move/pressed" on 2 occassions.. He "Bei Ya" and when I turned over, he suddenly could move and speak.. This happened when he was still awake.. My mum asked me to check if there were any spiders around.. Some spider spirit?? 5) Just 2 weeks ago, I was standing in the living room, there was a loud bang just behind me, like someone banging into a cupboard.. all my family members heard but couldn't figure out what happened. Later I saw one of the side tables was slanted and not lying flat against the wall.. and no one was near it or moved it. Well, I have heard of bringing children to view houses.. Before we bought the current place, my parents did bring us to view another place.. But upon reaching the place, we all started crying and refused to even enter the door.. Not sure what happened cos I was still young n din remember this.. Sorry for the long post!! I believe as long as we don't purposely disturb "them", they wont cause us harm.. Some are just mischevious.. Hope my new home will be fine too since its also a re-purchased flat vacant for 2 years..

Hi Oonik, I would say your ideas are so similar to mine!! .. I was planning on the above too.. But thanks for the advice to use more silver or gold.. Great idea! 1) Toilet cement screed walls and floor, shower area just sectioned off with a piece of glass(no door).. black mosaic tiling for shower area. black or cream sink and toilet with shiny fixtures. 2) Black/Red Chandelier in living room and bedroom. Wallpaper for feature area and bed. Lush velvety paded bed board. lush curtains or string curtains. 3) First plan was to use black, cream, red or mocha... but now i find red is too common.. I would like to use purple.. dark purple is also very lush.. Don't want to use to bright colour as the theme may look more contempory than posh. 4) Kitchen also plan to cement screed wall n floor. Cabinets will be black n warm lighting used.. Living room will most prob use black tiles too... Think my PIL will freak out when they find out how much black im using .. But this is the way I want it... Sure hope there will be more ideas on how to achieve this theme!! Thanks again!!

Hi, can I join in? I've read so many good things about Patrick.. Was actually thinking of going directly thru contractor instead of ID firms since I more or less have my concept and design planned out.. But not sure how to go about it. 1) Does Ho Bee provide all services eg. hacking, tiling, installation of sinks, toilet accessories etc? 2) Is it the same process like going thru ID firms, just without design planning? 3) Then how do we ensure our designs are understood? (eg layout of kitchen cabinets or WIW).. Drawings? Sorry for asking so many questions.. and thanks in advance
