  1. Updates again Bathtub Tiles up! Shape the stairs Awaiting for thick tempered glass
  2. Hi Makanology, believe it's the same like outside normal pricing. Don't really know the exact pricing as we replaced the entire flooring tiles as a package. Infact, we had already set a pre-deterrmined budget and agreed on a price with our contractor. Then, we chose our preferred tiles. We overlooked quite a lot of details but were lucky that the contractor covered them and even throw in a lot of extras. Would have gone with real wood but cos of our dog/maintenance/ ease of cleanliness. However, after witnessing the amazing technology look/feel of 'replica' tiles, it was a clear no-brainer
  3. Wood like balcony tiles Refine tiling works at balcony Lush green view taken from MBR Bring out the daylight from big lobang hole! We can already visualize our end product just the way we want it. In fact, even better.
  4. Had been busy with work. Thankfully, reno works r still on track n timely. Updates MBR wall tiling Living room white marble effect homo Wood like homogenous for rooms and 2nd floor lobby Stairway tiles
  5. No worries, seems a lot forumers having issues with PE/ delayed permits approval etc. chase, push, bang table. If all fails, pray. Jk.
  6. More hackings- all hackable areas to be destroyed! On our way out, we popped by to see the unit below us which commenced their renovation earlier than us. Let's just say we are very pleased with the pace of our renovations so far.
  7. After yesterday's progress, more happening today! We were very pleased with the workers' work and efforts. Of cos, we packed curry puffs and kopi to keep their energy level high. Kitchen wall tiles up 80% Wash area tiles
  8. Great that tings r on track for u. Seems a lot of hacking for your side too. For my side, the unit below began their reno few days before me. U can imagine the concurrent hacking din which my neighbors have to put up with. And coincide with cny festive season earlier. Funny ting is the unit below progress is very slow. Ttyl. Going to check out my unit soon. Good luck for your reno!
  9. It would be ideal to apply all necessary permits and get it approved prior the hacking commencement. For my case, the contractor saw to that once I given him my floor plan one month before the reno. Not all boards and depts r efficient and consistent based on my experience, lol. Plastering really depends on individual. Will be going for it. Have witnessed the effect on older flats personally and I find it worthwhile for that complete touch.
  10. After CNY long break, the Reno continues.... Day 8 and 9 Cementing At kitchen Cementing at toilets Tiling begins at MBR toilet Tiling at common toilet Toilet wall tiles design r quite a bold step for us at least. Not exactly conventional or conservative but we really like how everything is shaping out. My contractor Benny is very knowledgable and we felt assured in his hands. Keep our fingers crossed meanwhile for further progress
  11. Hi spikedoll, for hacking of wall definitely need PE endorsement. Must take such "major" overhaul bits seriously as HDB dun take them lightly. Unless of cos u r planning to stay there your entire lifetime. My previous occupant owner was asked to fit new windows parts as their originals failed inspection. My contractor simply applied for the permit and the process is fairly swift and straightforward. IMHO, if your ID gives u lame reasons about BCA, difficulties, permit problems then it only points down to few tings: plain unprofessional, lazy, lack of knowledge or cutting cost. The purpose of engaging an ID apart from providing ideas is to provide professional support, knowledge and facilitate the overall process of renovation. If I'm in your shoes, I will definitely bang table, summon boss and demand for the exacting demand to be carried out. On hindsight, he should be doing all the hdb calling, sourcing of PE and legwork for u instead. This is not even being demanding, it's basically exacting simple expectations. Do have a good talk with your ID. I really see no reason why it could be an issue. If it's due to lack of industry knowledge, know-how or lack of manpower resource, then I think this ID is crap! Still, the least they could do is to be upfront or honest even so. Sorry for my ranting. I simply can't stand poor service rendered when we are handing our cold hard cash to these "professional industry ppl". In our society, anything associated with design is not exactly cheap. Make sure they deliver where it matters!
  12. Theme? Haha, there is no theme. But then again, the thought of repainting it did cross my mind. Eventually decided to revamp everything anew.
  13. Day 7 - Cement galore. Right on track progressively. Higher the levels Worker at work Balcony reconstruct
  14. Stalker alert! Haha, u r welcome to stalk. Afterall, that's the purpose of a forum. To share and exchange opinions & information.
  15. Day 6 - Tiles fall in! Crane the tiles! Stocks Homo wood-like tiles for 2nd floor lobby and rooms Homo wood-like black tiles for entertainment room We r so ready to get laid!
  16. Tats the tricky part, most EMs have very dark staircases which is a pity, as it is actually the highlight tat differentiate it from other HDB units,
  17. Erm, the iron wrought thingy not exactly my style. Hacking a lot of walls cos there will only b 2 of us staying plus a dog!
  18. Windows at 2nd level up!!! View from the hole Silver aluminium with tea colour tinted glass Toilets new window
  19. Popped by and was surprised to see 6 workers still working hard on a Sunday. Decided to pack some curry puffs for them nearby. Chatted with them and they commented the unit was very breezy. We had lot of demands including a tight timeline. We are not rushing for CNY but need to shift in by early March. Our contractor, Benny was steady annd quick in co-ordinating certain details which we ourselves overlooked. Things are slowly shaping up and hopefully, it will be a smooth journey! Day 2-5 More hacking Kitchen and utility wall demolished Hacking of Stairway and glass opening Throwing down the debris Enlarged door opening for MBR Walk in warerode
  20. Thanks! This is really the dream house for us. i mean everyone dream of a big bungalow, but this was what was realistic and affordable for us. Yup, the location plus high floor was the main draw for us. The park and lush greenery below r the icing on the cake. Seeing the hacking of entire house was a great feeling. Kinda of unsure feeling yet anticipating how everything will turn out.
  21. Day 1 The hacking commences. Entire flooring hacked. Toilets & kitchen wall tiles gone as well. More hacking work tomorrow. Quite pleased overall. Dust plus noise - felt bad for the neighbors but it's not like I have much of a choice. More hacking work to be continued ... Common toilet The living hall The kitchen The room The lobby at 2nd floor
