  1. I think the previous owners had good aiming skills... haha...
  2. kooky, Actually there are two types of WC (bowl). One type is p trap, the other is s-trap. P trap pipes stick out horizontally, eg. from the wall. S trap, on the other hand, have pipes coming out from the floor. My "hobbit" toilet is a customized toilet and therefore can only use P-trap. The plumber also had to customize the pipes for me in order for me to use it. The old toilet looks like this... how to use?
  3. HappyAng, The access panel is a good idea, I might tell my ID about that. But then again, if the space is not enough then it is not useful to have the access panel. Wife wants a 3 piece sliding glass - 2 movable, one static. The static one will replace the existing partition. To me, either way is fine: partition or glass looks just as great. Of course as you have mentioned, partition will be a bit cheaper.
  4. kooky, The "hobbit" toilet bowl used to face the wall and I don't know how I could use that! To change the direction of the bowl, the pipe cutter had to join two elbow joints together to form a U-shaped channel. Then couple that with a p-trap wc, and it's done. My ID suggested to erect a small wall to conceal the U channel, which I think is a great idea. That way, we could put some deodorent or English reed diffuser. Just change the direction of the WC, bro! Haha...
  5. Hahaha... ok, I get it. My renovation is still in a mess now. Exposed trunking really isn't my cup of tea, but we decided to go the "approved" way... so no choice. I just updated my blog so if you have time - sitting around, nothing to do after updating your own blog, pop over to mine and take a peek. I am just amazed that you could conjure up till the finest details in your renovations - to even appreciate things like shadows cast on the walls, tissue box, etc. I wish I could just have 10% of your meticulosity, but oh well... Enjoy your new house, and take your time. There will be enough time to smell the flowers and listen to the brids chirp...
  6. Day 32 Decisions, decisions, decisions... Shopping for a dining lamp isn't a walk in the park! So many to choose from, yet none of them are suitable. What do you think about these? Dining Lamp 1: 3 hu lu Dining Lamp 2: Black and white crystals Dining Lamp 3: Victorian styled round Dining Lamp 4: iLuma / Bugis+ design
  7. Day 32 The issues keep coming... I thought that the recess area could be used for some decorative ornaments, but wife thinks otherwise. Well, the good about this partition is that we can conceal some electrical sockets. Let's see... Stairwell area with a recess that wife also does not like... Another view of Stairwell area with a recess that wife also does not like...
  8. Day 32 Master Bedroom Yard area after box up
  9. Day 32 This is one place that wife really has got issues - inside the small level 1 toilet. I shall call it the "hobbit" toilet from now on. Recess area in the "hobbit" toilet (Wife doesn't like it) The "hobbit" toilet SS pipings in the "hobbit" toilet
  10. Day 32 My bat cave... lol. This is the storage room created under the stairs. We wanted to do a partition between the Living Room and the rest of the house. But in the end, we thought that the partition was not so good, and glass would be better. IMHO, I thought that a Movable glass-static glass-partition combination would be nice. But wife wanted a Movable glass-movable glass-static glass combination. View of Living Room from Main Door View of Main Door from Living Room Brothers and Sisters, any comments?
  11. Day 32 Ok, so here comes the headache part. These are some of the ugly stuff that I will have to live with. I realised that there are ZERO concealed electrical points in the whole house (WHAT?!) And apparently there exists some "nice" neighbours who would inform HDB if I were to conceal the wirings. So after much contemplation, I decided to go the "all-pass" way. Open Net - This is nonsense. Will have to redo... This is something that really irks me out... Ugly trunking
  12. Upcoming activities So, what's planned for the coming weeks? Well, quite a lot. So here goes: 1. Choose colour of cabinets for kitchen 2. Flooring specialists will take measurements and ready the stock for laying 3. Air con installation 4. Finish up plastering the walls 5. Electricity cables to be laid Well, I suppose I can say that the spending spree has started. We have ordered the water storage heaters (2x). Now waiting for stock to come in for the small little toilet downstairs - we ordered the Magnum WC but was out of stock because it was too **** popular. LOL... Ordered our hood and hob, rain showers, basins and faucets. Just waiting for the green light from ID to say that they are ready. Will put up more pictures when I get them! If you guys would like me to focus on a particular room/topic, do let me know. Else I will just talk very "high level" stuff. Cheers
  13. spikedoll: yeah, actually the living room is already extended. So we are just building on top of it. It's just that this particular unit has alot of jagged edges and weird beams that we cannot hack away. If you notice in the balcony picture, there are two beams on the left and right that looks really ugly. But, oh well...
  14. summersann: So how's your first week in your new home? Your home really looks awesome, and your ideas are really great! Superb blog too!
  15. Kitchen Wall tiles and floor tiles are up! Main Toilet 2 taking shape. Wife very happy about this... LOL Utility Room is reborn!

  21. Choosing tiles is really a pain... nice ones, no stock. Good ones, too expensive. Cheap ones, crack easy. Unique ones, discon. Grrrr!!! I really liked this one for my 25 m2 entrance area. I remember one old friend told me 脚踏石地 as the entrance, which I think is really great. But, discon liao. So no stock. Geo Andes Mix This one also nice, but No Stock or extremely low stock. Calzada Negro Boh pian liao... cannot take the princess, take the cousin also can. LOL Calzada Beige
  22. It's the ID's work, not mine. So I have to give credit to them. But then again, the end result is another thing altogether. Hopefully it turns out well. <FINGERS CROSSED>
  23. Thanks! Will keep you updated on the progress. Next week should be interesting...
  24. Yes, they are for Fengshui purposes. Emperor coins were introduced by my Fengshui master (FS Master), and can be bought at The Bencoolen. There's no information about which shops to buy from on the Internet. What I did was go to The Bencoolen (opposite Burlington Square, diagonal to Sim Lim Square), and went for any one that sells these coins. There are so many there! The shop I went to was Sin Poh Court Trading (#01-56A), Tel: 6238-8981. The lady was very nice and soft spoken. Price is about 35 cents each. About these coins, they are replicas (read: fake) of the ancient coins. From my understanding, they are supposed to bring luck, fortune, wealth, health, and ward off all evil and bad things from the house. Hahaha... this one I say one, not FS master say one. In any case, FS master say what, I do what. I just follow instructions. Hope this helps.
