恭喜发财!Huat Ah! We actually forgot to ask Alan when his workers will be resuming the work thus we called him today to check and SURPRISE!! They started work today! Went down in the evening after shopping at Isetan Orchard (we bght a Scanteak bed frame). We like it because it's simple and doesnt burst our budget! Got them at Isetan popup store and there is additional 3% rebate for Isetan cardholders. Yay! We went down to check it out in the evenins hoping to bump into the workers so that we could pass them some 开工红包 but they left when we were there. Anyway more pics to share for hacking! Happy as a clam now coz most of the hacking is done soon and they start cement screeding tomorrow!

Hey, Thanks for the compliment. The furnitures have been customised at Second charm. They have a website and a shop but it's super cluttered to even find something. Perhaps take a look at the webbie and drop them an email if anything catches ur eye, HTHs!

I just googled seems to be 10days before and the lunar 3rd (which starts after 4th April) & 7th month that is not favourable but seems like there are also auspicious days in these mths too, Maybe we will do the house moving in ritual before that ba. Bo bian le. we're technically homeless now. Handing over our current house next week and bunking in w the folks w a toddler in tow. Cannot be a nomad for too long. read this : Most Chinese will avoid to do any auspicious events on Lunar 3rd and 7th Months because they believe that this is the month for Prayers to Ancestors' graves as well as the month where spirits are given off days to come back to the human world. Some consider these months more Ying and not auspicious for auspicious events. If you believe in these beliefs, then it is better to avoid shifting into your new house during this month. Most people worry because if any thing bad happens, then others will blame them for doing auspicious events during such months. Some people even avoid buying cars and houses during such months. Another example is also Traditional Customary Weddings are also more preferably done in Even Months. It all depends on indivduals' beliefs. In my opinion, there are auspicious days/times in every month, including these two months. If really need to do any auspicous events in these two months and we believe in such things, then it is advisable to get the correct auspicious dates/times to do it. Even in other months, the House Shifting ritual should be done on auspicious dates and time.

It's been a while since the last update because all thanks to our friendliest and most helpful HDB officers for delaying the approval of the hacking thus after day 1 of hacking. Everything came to a standstill.. And when they finally approved the hacking, the workers were ready to pack up for CNY so we will be continuing the works after CNY. But it's OK !!!! The Happy news is .. tadah... Our customized bedside tables are finally here!!!!.. The husband showed me a picture of a set of bedside tables sometime ago and we were deeply smitten with it but because it wasnt a designer piece that was put up for sale, rather it was customised by some designer for their friend so we had it customised instead. Heheh The first pic looks very bleh because it hasnt been wax/lacquered yet (taken when it first arrived) but we're gg to remove the 2nd drawers so it looks like the 2nd pic (taken today when we went down to view it) !! I love love it !!! Next project~ Crochet socks for these babies! YAY

After checking out on the progress, we went to royal fanco at jalan besar to make our sanitary ware purchases. We actually went jalan besar 2 weeks ago to check out the stuff and initially we wanted to check out poh goo because 5yrs ago when we renovate our current house, we got everything from Poh Joo. However, fast forward 5yrs later, they have expanded in size but lost their service standard. Then walked past Royal fanco when we were otw to the car and found the prices there v competitive and the boss (Henry) and his wife were v friendly and obliging. Thus this time round, we cut the chase and went back to purchase everything else from them since we bght our Grohe earlier. Arino Caprio WC + Baron Sink ( 2 sets of this. 1 for each toilets) at $390 per set! Jovan 25L Storage heater Elkay Sink that comes w drainer and chopping board and some misc stuff like water spray bidet and small taps for the extra water point in the service yard Yay! Another item striked off the list!

90% of the skirtings and all the cornices has been hacked and remove. Wardrobes and fixtures all down! Hopefully HDB reverts and appoves of hacking for the walls fast so that we have everything hacked away in the next 2 days The aircon compressor board removed and revealed the disgusting condition of it. the board probably corroded overtime resulting in a lot of mould ( eewe...) growing inside. i guess it should be the same for the air con pipings as well so we're not keeping anything in the house. everything must go.

The hacking begins... and this was what greeted us after 1 day of hacking! Common toilet and MBR toilet hacked! Yay...Super siok to see the disgusting toilet turned into a pile of rubble. Bye bye oily kitchen The brick wall console is down too

Mentioned earlier that i've a tory to share about the mosaic. We're super fast in our tile selection because we know what we want but this also post as a problem for us for the mosaic selection. This was one of our backup in the event we really could find anything we like but we would really prefer that it is in a single colour. Because we only want that shade of turquoise/aqua tiles and it had to be a single colour. We ( or rather myself since i'm more anal) had a hard time digging out all the mosaic suppliers in singapore. I emailed like 10-15? (forgot) companies with pictures of the tiles that we are looking for and calling them up to check if they have stick available. after 2 days of phone calls, web trawling and emails, We initially found a single color mosaic tile from SBH but because they were out of stock and needed to indent for stock and it'll take 6-8 weeks),*gua gua* We have to start the search all over again 皇天不负苦心人, we finally a tile company (Unlimited) who has similar shades that we wanted. Our chosen mosaic~ looks a little dark from the pic here because this is the back of the mosaic but it def closest to what we're looking for. The Bisazza Vetricolor 20 collection! (some italian imported tiles.) We're initially pondering on whether if we should just do 1 full wall mosaic feature wall in the shower stall or the entire shower stall. But having gone thru so much trouble to look for the mosaic. Heck la! WE've decided to bite the bullet and go all the way! $$$$$$ Kaching kaching! I can hear the cashier ringing in my ears. In the process of mosaic search, i highly recommend the following 2 stores to visit if you're looking for a particular shade of mosaic like us. They have definitely the more choices that the normal tile shops we frequent. Rice fields - Fantastic customer service unfortunately the tiles needs to be indent and we couldnt afford the wait. 65 6227 3156 66 eng watt street 01-04 singapore 160066 |historic tiong bahru| The place we got our mosaics Unlimited Enterprises (Pte ) Ltd, Block 34 Whampoa West, #01-43 Singapore 330034 :: Tel : (65) 6298 5713, 6298 5715, 6293 4787, 6293 4788 :: Fax : (65) 6294 3736

We will be using subway tiles again (Smaller but 3D ones this time) + Hexagon mosaics for the laundry / wet area Kitchen wall tiles is simplest and cheapest of the lot because 1. it's a really tiny area 2. And the tiles is complement the clean and white look that we hope to achieve

The hacking has started :sport-smiley-004: More pictures to follow tomorrow of the hacking since the husband will only be popping by tomorrow. Today we shall talk about tiles! Yes our tile selection, we went over hafary, hup kiong and lian seng hin last sun for the tile selection. Guess we know what we want for the house and we're both v firm on our ideas thus we took a record ....30mins (for the tile selection except out mosaic portion. will elaborate about this later on. ) .. having said that we only have v small areas of tiles to select since we will be using HERF for the kitchen as well because we created a wet area for laundry. The mbr toilet has 3 colours , off-white and turquoise *Think beach resort kinda feel! Ahhh!!!!* Grey - Floor tiles, off white - wall tiles and we will be using full mosaic for the shower area and basin. We hope to create an effect so the should look like this, but of course my toilet not so big la. hahaha... Common toilet - Clean and simple look and feel - white and the same grey floor tiles and it should look like this
-
Hi fellow pasir ris neighbor, Most of the tiles we can select is min. $3 and some till $3.80 and have u decide on your table? I would prefer the lower one instead of high table coz the able space can be a work space for cooking baking, etc.

Hehe nothing in particular. Small crafts, clothes for my toddler, cushion covers

So happy that i score this nice piece from Oddyssey!!! :sport-smiley-004: Have been looking around for nice sewing machine legs / sewing machine table for awhile. Saw an art deco look alike piece from Hock Siong but they dont hold stocks so i didnt have the chance to visit and it's sold off. Happen to log in to Oddyssey and spot this piece that they've just put up on FB.. It's in a really nice condition. Love it! Decided to bring it home with us and it shall be my sewing table in future!

Yup no more craftstone wall because of the maintenance. As for the flooring, i guess we have to treat the flooring like what we will do for laminates. Wipe immediately if there is spills whatsoever. The smell issue that we have read from some forum, according to the explanation from the Evorich guys, there was a batch of flooring that was problematic and the problem was in states but they have since resolved the issue. There has not been any case of bad smell so far here. End of day, we choose this flooring because the pros outweighs the cons in our case (no hacking, child friendly, no grout, etc) Guess each type of flooring is its pros & Cons. it's really how comfortable we are with it.

Continuation on of reviews for the contractors that we have met and our chosen contractor 5) Contactor J**Wei from renotalk We met him at one of the macdonald coz we rushed down after work with a toddler in tow and spoke to him for nearly 2hrs and he was supposed to send us a quotation in 2 weeks time because he said that he was busy, but he didnt send anything a few days pass the deadline, he contacted us saying that he has finally finished his on hands project and could work on ours soon and promised to send the quotation over but again he flew us aeroplane.... Obviously, we wont be considering him and if he really reads ---》年轻人, 做这行信誉很重要你知道吗! 6) Contractor Andr** from renotalk He was an hour late when he was supposed to meet and and we sat down to discuss about the plans and he is actually acceptable until he starts spinning cock and bull story about why he is late and stuff about apprentice etc. However i must commend his speed, we got his quotation the following day but unfortunately the price doesnt impress us and neither do we appreciate the 夺命连环calls that he made to the husband, We didnt feel comfy with him thus we decide to drop him too. 7) Contractor Ke*** - recommended Nice guy, efficient on his quote and we actually discussed pretty well except that he doesnt look interested in what we have to say because he didnt bother taking any notes the whole time we spoke and we dont find any chemistry with him. 8) Roy fr I* Design Ver busy man, the husband tried calling him but he was away on holiday, he didnt get back to us after he came back. guess he is busy catching up on his current projects and we dont have the luxury of time waiting so we dropped him. It was a close fight between contractor Alan and Artistroom. We very impressed with Kathy's creativity and we can click with contractor alan. In the end, we choose Contractor Alan instead. Cannot have best of both worlds... wanna save some $$ must work on the designs harder so till the next post..... gotta go mug design books for ideas!!!

Thanks! Progress is finally streaming in after a 2mth wait!

We bought the small accessories (paper holder, towel ring, towel rack) from amazon coz it's really economical to purchase online and the rest of the stuff from Asia Excel at IMM ( we visited interior affairs as well but the discount given wasnt that great). Total damage $2k plus for everything plus a kitchen mixer which i haven't post the pic yet. We actually viewed both and found the price to be similar but because i wanted to get the accessories online, so we prefer all the items in the kitchen / toilet to be uniformed and thus we got Grohe instead. I actually find the price at Hansgrohe at robertson quay expensive and the atmosphere there intimidating (read: snooty salesman versus an active toddler running about and mummy chasing) , we then visited the store and B1 Parkmall, they carry hansgrohe too and they have some promotional packages for hangrohe that includes the mixer/hand shower and basin mixer starting from $500++) You can pop by to check them out, the guy is super friendly in explaining to us on the different models and whether it is suitable fr HDB or not. thumbs up fr his service though we didnt get anything from him. The husband did a reserach on the HERF flooring and was mega impressed with the inter-locking features based on videos he saw online but we're actually not too convinced untl we went down to the showroom to have a feel of the flooring (we love that it doesnt have the floating feel of laminates and it feels firm to step on). And the push factor for us to go ahead was that we got to know that HERF has just won the tender for flooring for all pcf childcares. We have toddler with us and her safety is our utmost concern so we prefer a child friendly flooring. Our rationale is that if the PAP run childcare is also using this flooring, it must be of a certain standard

Grohe Eurosmart Cosmo for the common bathroom with matching toilet roll holder / towel ring and towel rack

Grohe Eurostyle concealed showet set with rainshower icon showerhead for the MBR , the husband doesnt quite like the fixed overhead rainshower so we're going for the hanshower instead and we've yet to decide on the colour of the handshower.
