E here. That's ah Beng. Very drama fella. U r correct in that sense, not every company has the same quality standards as each other. Some are more stringent than most. But apparently his perspective is so narrow, so it means literally everything made in china is of the same grade and quality. Since he sees it this way, tell him u ll offer to buy his real Grohe faucet for 50$ since it doesn't matter anyway cos high priced quality stuff is the same as a cheapo since both is made in China. What a moron.

E here, To be honest, these "dead-brainers" must have plenty of similar experiences like this, be it Grohe or some cheapo china brands. They just don't learn even when it is crystal clear to use everything from the same set as I m pretty sure experiences like this occur frequently. They are unwilling to adapt to changes and blame us clients for buying from oversea suppliers or retailers. In this age of Internet and ecommerce, little do they realise that they are still stuck in the mindset of the 70s or 80s where we pay rip-off and ridiculously marked up prices by local businesses using excuses like rental or shipping or staffing costs to jack up prices.

I feel for u man and I share ur anguish. Again, another dead-brain at work. Why act smart and use something of their own when apparently that item has already been provided? This is NOT being helpful, that's plain stupidity. It still seems that they are seriously unable to "learn" or "adapt" with using something different despite having countless of experiences in this trade as well as such common occurrences.

Mr E here, depending on which carpenter though, throughout my experience with Ah Gui, tall and dark early 40ish fella, he is quite alright. He's quite precise with his work so he's a lil slow. Others I m not so sure. I have his number though, as I m planning to get him for custom work for my craft. However, it ll be good to list down the various carpenters so as to avoid using them.

Hi Jayque, Mr E here. For electrical works, if there are ceiling fans, mark out the location of the fans and leave enough wiring, but don't get them to install cos they suck at it. Whereas the ceiling fans authorised service guys fix and install dozens of fans everyday. The subcon electricians were like going through a jigsaw puzzle and trying so hard to balance them. My electricians are the older workers, they are fast and forgetful(not sure if it's forgetful or bochup). I had written on the walls with markers and height/length lines, but still ended up wrong, bleh... They actually fixed the wrong power points at the wrong height and didn't leave enough wiring for extending, and I had to remove my bedside tables legs yet I didn't tell them off cos there's no way I could fit a multi plug for use. Don't bother abt asking them for LED bulbs advice such as brightness etc, they know nothing. Alan doesn't know either. Sometimes, I trust advice from forums and the Internet more than them. This has lead to me thinking that these people don't really care.

Hi Songz, welcome to the 3-roomer club! 18k COV is a pretty good buy especially for an AMK flat. We paid 10K COV for our Bukit Batok though that was a year ago. 3 room resale units are usually over 20 years of age. So it may be best to do an overhaul and change the pipes and wiring lest they give you trouble after you have settled down. For the flooring, if the existing tiles are not hollow, then 1 way to save some cost is to overlay with laminate. Was looking at the pictures of your current place. The previous owner seems to like red a lot... Red wall in the bedroom! Woah

Hi jayque, basically it would be good to go down regularly to monitor the progress. That everything is done according to what you have requested for. Take pictures and whatsapp Alan if there is anything that may seem odd. And talk to the sub-cons to get a better understanding. Is your electrical works done yet? Good to keep an eye on this. There are small things here and there to keep watch so it boils down to the details. Good luck

We initially bluffed Ikea's delivery team that we will be out of town for 2 weeks so that bought us some 'free storage' time.

Hi simplehuman, yes it is a pain to be staying in a work-in-progress month. We experienced that for 1.5 months until we compromised on some minor rectifications. Just got too tired with the cleaning up! Hope you can solve your window leakage problem soon!
