Sorry but I say all these are "patang" and more in cultural believe/practise rather than FS. For example, Cantonese uses fruits, boild water and cook at home on the first day in their new home. And all new things in a new house no matter what. Hokiean use pineapple and roll inside house, chicken and posted pork, sugar canes for praying. etc etc etc...... pineapple in singapore/malaysia is "wong lai" (wealth is coming) but not in China or HK. HK call them "po lo" (nothing related to wealth) Sugar cane is used in praying in singapore and malaysia, coz during WWII, Hokiean believe sugarcanes has help them from Japs killing them when they hide in behind sugarcane fields. You can do all the above for the peace of mind but they are not related to FS. Most important thing to do is to choose the correct date and time to move in. Another is when move into new house is to cleanse old "things" including furnitures or other stuffs you may have. Cleansing can be done by using sea salt placing around the furnitures or burning aroma oil for 2 days or more. These cleansing will get rid of negative energies present in your furniture and cleanse the air. Sea salt can absorb negative energy and harmful bacteria, fungi and viruses. Leave the sea salt overnight and vacuum them the next day.

Below 6th floor, you should use the main door and main gate. Qi is about cosmic qi and body qi. The more human movement means more qi. more people walking around and thru your door, means more qi. Imagine in shopping center, many people go to the main door, so main qi is on their main door. Cars also consider human movement. So below 6th floor, the main qi is from your house door. Above 6th floor, there is no or less human traffic, we then use cosmic qi. That's why it is better to have unblock view. More qi going to your place. Comparing cosmic and body qi, body qi is more effective qi.

In chinese, a person belongs to any 5 element groups - Fire, Metal, Wood, Earth, Water. These are the principal of 5 elements. Each can help and/or destroy others. For example. Wood help fire to burn, fire helps to enrich earth, earth create metal, metal helps water and water grow wood (tree). But wood consumes earth, earth cover water, water destro fire, fire melt metal and metal chop wood. Which element do you belong? It is based on your bazi and femal/male. Good color for elements. Wood: green, blue Fire: red, pink, purple, violet, maroon, green Earth: brown, beige, yellow, orange, red metal: gold, silver, brown, beige, yellow, orange, white water: blue, gold, silver You don;t have to follow the above color if you don't like the color BUT try not to have the below color: Negative color for each element: Wood element: gold, silver Fire: blue earth: green metal: red, purple, violet, pink, maroon water: brown, beige, yellow, orange Shape that matter to element: Wood: rectangle or cylinder shape Fire: Triangle, pyramid earth: round, circle, flat metal: semi-cirle water: zig-zag Katvolution, I don't think your kitchen hood has anything to do with your 3 operations. If so many kena operate, I think it is external factor to your place. Look outside your window or neighbour and check if any sharp things pointing to your place. (ie. corner of a building, pakua, pointy roof) Corner of a building looks like a sharp knife.

I have small encounter about 10 months ago when i doing a reno work on new place. I know how to look for fengshui but I need to verify with another master - just to confirm before reno starts. So I engage a reputable master. He is quite famous in Singapore and often go oversea for FS. Some magazines have his articles. He came to my place and audit. Told him upfront that I know about fengshui and he should audit properly. He took a impressive Lopan and start measuring. Then said the direction you are facing is not good. What !@#$%!. Nevermind I thought. He checked inside and out and surrounding. I then asked him the direction he was taking and what the !@#$~%. Straight a way I know it is wrong. He took wrong direction????? Told him the correct compass reading. After pausing, he said he will confirm with me when he back in office. I gave him all details on my family DOB and let him work out on bazi. A day later, he called and ask me to see him. Said sorry on the direction he was taking. All my reno design was ok. Then he audit my family bazi. Wow! my daughter bazi is wrong! Explain to me that his assistance has make mistake. So I told him to redo again or I'm not paying a cent. 3 days later, told me he redo it himself, BUT also wrong. Either he is **** busy or he know ku-ku on fengshui! So in the end, trust my own fengshui and no single cents is wasted on them. A month ago, a oversea FSM stayed at my place. Said my place is GOOD! Only few touch up on some area. He said never sleep so well before while in Singapore. I agree because he was late for his appointments (twice)! So guys, better get a double audit for your place.

Placing mirror in kitchen is different from other rooms. Kitchen is a place to cook food. The same goes to dinning room. It's a place for family to have good food. So, placing a mirror on dinning area is good to amplify abundant of food and not amplify "mistress". Most fengshui master will recommend that. : ) Further, placing mirror will make fire 2 X stronger. If you look at old oil lamp, they place a small mirror on one side to reflect light. Also, if fire so big big, any mistress will be burnt to charcoal! also good for cooking. His wife sure satisfy.

Generally if you are East group, NE is not good. But since you are staying in flat and not landed, it will depend on your 2 things. 1. Where is the main qi coming from? 2. Which floor level are you staying? Both above can be related. If you are staying above 6th floor, generally qi is coming from your balcony or living room window (based on most singapore flat designs) NOT your main door. This is frequently misunderstood by many. So it is best to check the direction you are facing to the main qi!

Phoneix, Looking at your pic, you can do either 1. place your stove at the fridge area. If stove is not facing directly to toilet door, it is sure OK! Sink should placed to the far corner. Sink should not face the kitchen door. For better, do a partition or full height cupboard between stove and sink. Or 2. swap stove and sink from your original picture. Place and use mirror or stainless steel for your stove backing. Prefer full height backing. Stove facing door is ok as long as there is a mirror backing. This is basic fengshui. Just imagine that you are concentrating cooking and suddenly a person comes behind you. You will be shocked for life. Food cooked is not very tasty. So by placing a mirror or stainless steel will allow you to know who is coming.

HDB only sell you the original plan with scale. So it is best to get it and give to your fengshui master. You can only see 30% external with streetdirectory and 70% you have to go down the area to survey. Reason, streetdirectory is really not to scale and don't tell you the height of each building or any thing is blocking your house ie. tree, path or other buildings. And in actual fengshui, to look at the external, ones should look at overall Singapore instead woodland. however sometime it is not up to us to choose which area.

Guys, Although I not fengshui master but I practise fengshui for own use. So, here just give my 2 cents advice. If your M bedroom door is facing directly at the bathroom, then it is consider whatever luck you have on that sector will be flush out. So, if you buy 4D, you will not get such luck. So never have door facing directly to bathroom. To cure it, create another bedroom door and seal the existing bedroom door. It is easier, cheaper and better in fengshui than sealing the bathroom door. Since you seal up your bedroom door, your bathroom door will be facing the wall. So no problem with fenshui. Alternatively, if there is enough space, put a partition (ie portable wooden partition) and place it 45 degree, so it will block the bathroom door and you don't have to knock either door. Also, if I may, do not put a mirror directly facing the bedroom door. No good for fengshui. For example when you enter the room and can see mirror, no good! imagine if at night and with deam light, and when you enter the room, you can see yourself like ......scary! The issue above is just minor and can be retify easily. You have to look at the overall house to determine if good fenghsui, Bazi is actually important when looking at your house fengshui. If you ask good master, they will ask your bazi before looking at house with Lo Pan.

Thanks for your advice bros, True, I should check on reno progress. However, the deal was not my or his fault. Basically everyone did not know that the floor tiles hacking was so deep. So we need more sand than previously thought. As you know sand now is pricey$$. So far this contractor is good and honour his words. He tell me honestly and said it is not my fault. Still call me everyday at 9am and go down every morning to check on things. He may lost some on hacking but he make profit on others. But I will monitor the situation closely. Anyway, I have few contractors doing different things.

Hi Delon, Just started my renovation. First day 3 workers to hack the place. 2nd day, four workers to hack. You can see my reno at http://picasaweb.google.com/roystan Got it a good deal on hacking. Contractor now swearing because they are making a lost for hacking job. Kitchen cabinet they are quoting me is $80 pfr with everything. False Ceiling contrator is giving me $1.70 psf. Tiles is getting at contractor price.... Yahoooo!

Hi Delon, Reno has not started yet. I'm still scratching my tiny head on what to do.... My place starts talking enbloc So not sure if it is successful or not. I'm against enbloc on my place. Now not sure if I will do major reno. I was going to do loft with bare staircase for my study cum office. But now, still thinking. What do you think? Your place is a "bang"! Wow almost finish and pretty pink wall. Just like my current room. Can't wait for your deco and furniture.

I found a good and reasonable contrator who can coordinate all the works except some minor things. Saw his workmanship. But last miniute, my place is in talk on enbloc. So did not engage him to do it. Pisces, it is a chicken and egg. ID and contractor. Yes it is good to have ID. Afterall he do all coordination with his contrators. But it really depends entirely on his skill and all his contractors or subcons. Most ID have few jobs on hand and use different teams to work together. Some teams can work together and some can't even they are coordinated with same ID and depending on the job scope (big or small). Some IDs are new and may make sure all his new project is good or else close his shop. So it is often heard members in this forum saying his or her ID is good for the 1st project but then no good on 2nd project. Or doing great job on one house but nay on the others. Overall, most work is handle by your ID not you. Good workmanship on your place will depend alot on you, ID and contractor luck! To engage contractors, you have to know them all. Call and meet them individually at least get quotation and look at their current job. If engage individually, they may not work together as a team, and it takes great effort on your side to do coordination. Some contractors can handle most of the things. ie. contrators who know nuts about design but has his own teams in electric, plumbing, wetwork, false ceiling etc. But you have to get your own materials unless you ask them. Overall, a lot of work on your side whether you get a good or bad contractors. After all, even ID has to get them to do the job. Then of course the money part! Dollar and cents. Depending on your experince, nego skill and how much is the job, some ID or contrators look at us like printing money machines and sometime just because our face not nice, they simply do the job. what to do??? But one thing I have to say is ID here is ripping people off. If you know their running cost and the profit they make, you will understand my points here. ID comes and goes. Remember they only do some fancy drawing and coordination works and some other minor things + ideas (money cannot buy ideas but can buy reno magazine). Most work is done by their contrators. But the bulk of money goes to ID. Of course I'm not say all ID do that but majority of them....99%. As you know every single line of quote, there is a high mark-up on top of what they give to their contrators. how much it depends on their greed For example, false ceiling? Direct from false ceiling, you can get about $1.70 to $1.90 psf (incl. labour and material) but going thru ID, the quote is range from $2.60 to above $4.00psf. Sure, they need some profit to do their job but it is easy and almost no coordination work here! Wait!....ID tell you to save cost, he brings you to tiles shop and choose your tile, and the owner will give you best price..discount some more! He doen't get a cent from them. I'm sure you don't believe that, right? Um...you may ask him, he may tell ..aiya only 5% commission-mah, to cover travelling cost and time spend. Reasonable, right? Oops....their commission is not 5%, but 30%. So overall, price is a factor depending on your budget. However, most of us will say we have tight budget. For me, I will check thru few reasonable IDs (don't simply simply get quote..lah) and few contractors. Then compare all of them so you can start bargain (must bargain) with them before giving your project to either ID or contractors. ...last factor to consider is do you have time?
