Hi nerrad, when you say that further functional aesthetics requests will be considered as a variation, would these variations be stated in the initial quote? For e.g., should the initial quote state how much is each additional drawer? what is the industry practice? Coz I recently received my revised quote and was very very shocked by the additional amount which wasn't corresponded to me. In the end, my ID told me that standard pkg is that one wardrobe has only 4 drawers. hence now i have more, each will cost me $80. I find that totally unfair and feel very cheated.

I recently received a revised quotation from my ID. we are at the last stage of our reno i.e.. carpentry. In his original quote, it wasn't stated that the wardrobe would only have a certain number of drawers etc. Likewise for the kitchen cabinet. Now, after discussion on design, we intend to have a more drawers than he had expected and he says that it would be $120 extra for each kitchen drawer and $80 extra for each wardrobe drawer. Is that the norm? I do understand that drawers especially Kitchen are more expensive than casement but I feel very cheated as it was not corresponded to me prior to making the item. Shouldn't there be a miscellaneous cost section stated just like in an electrical quote where the price of an additional socket would be clearly stated? Hope someone can advise. TIA

I renovated my place in 2007 and did up a concealed door for my bedroom. It blended in together and forms a wall from the outside. However, lately, the door has been misaligned and it's very difficult, if not impossible to close/ lock. We tried taking out the hinges and playing around with its positioning as well as tightening the screws to the extent of causing some cracks but to no avail. Still can't close the door as it is jutting out from the "frame". Would appreciate if someone can help give advice on how i can perhaps solve this problem without incuring too big a damage. or a reasonable contractor who can help me with this. I don't wish to tear down the entire wall just to change my door. I've tried contacting my previous ID, but they have been avoiding me since day one. very annoyed.
