  1. Hi Gakuseisean, I am so glad to come across this post aand your blog! I am planning my reno for my resale and would like your advise. I have taken the quiz and it stated 100% contemporary and I'm going for minimalist theme...i think that's comtemporary, rite? I'm thinking of whites and some greys for the whole house....loved dark wood for furniture but from what i have read so far..most are light wood color to go with whites...can dark wood be chosen for a minimalist theme? thinking of cement screed flooring but am wondering if it's as bad as what i have read so far...any advice? in the worst case, will be using white tiles for living and dining and wood laminated for bedrooms...
  2. Hi etc, loved your house! i am going for minimalist theme as well and am also inspired by that flat Desmond done up.... I have a few questions on for you on your house if you dont mind... - I am considering concrete flooring like yours, could you comment if it's dusty and cracks like what others had? - Yours seems to be gloss surface, is it slippery when wet? - Does Desmond do ID as well? I thought I read somewhere he dont...but if he does, could you advise how much he charge for ID? please PM me on that. - Could you comment on your contractor, are their worksmanshop good? any complaints? - may I know roughly how much is the reno...the walls, ceilings, floors, kitchen? (excluding the furnitures) thanks in advance. please drop me a PM if you dont want to disclose in the post....
  3. Hi, I'm new to this forum but having been reading up on the many threads and helpful suggestions/guidance given by many here so decide to register myself to get some help. I'm looking at minimalist theme and color will be white and grey and dark wood. Wonder if a budget of 40-50K be enough for a minimalist theme given I'm redoing the flooring for the whole house, 2 toilets, wardrobes for 3 bedrooms and kitchen cabinets and perhaps wiring since it's a resale.(12 years old or more) I have seen a couple of threads with that theme but I need some suggestions. Here goes: 1. am thinking of cement screed flooring but from what i have read, it seems to be not a good idea...cons being it's dusty and depending on the skill of the contractors. Is it really that bad? I really like the idea of concrete floor...simple and bare and durable. 2. do i really need a ID and does having one cost a lot? i have an idea of what i want but dont mind better suggestion to improve the design. 3. i like dark wood so wondering if that will goes with the minimalist theme given it's going to be mainly white and some grey. any advices and suggestions are welcome....thanks.
  4. hi batman, does changing the flooring consider hacking and need PE endorsement since they need to hack the old tiles? sorry if this sound stupid...first time doing reno...
