today went down in the morning...the guys doing polishing are already at work...very dusty... basically still a couple of small things still not completed. then came the bomb, a cabinet door cant be opened!! the door just opened nicely within the wall depth and there is no space to put my fingers to open it... sigh!! check with ID and he suggest either open from the bottom of the door or try to find a long magnet to push the door out more.. even with longer magnet to push the door out, the whole door is not flat...seems warped..could be it's a whole long piece... so in the end, i want it split into 2 doors. will inform him how i want it done when he hand over this week...hopefully no other issues....

This shop is at Shaw centre off orchard road, #16-01. https://www.facebook.com/HandymanCentre no lah, my ID dont know how to fix this problem....he said either leave it or change the whole windows....if change all windows, will cost $2000+... i think most condo windows are powder coated to last but if didnt maintain, really bad if white become yellow... hope yours is not white...

you must let us know what types of lights you are looking for... i have went to a lot of places looking for lights....jalan besar, balestier, joo chiat, geylang etc...these are the few places with many lights shops to search for your lights....unfortunately it's not at 1 place like PC stuffs. in the end, i do false ceiling with downlights for all rooms and bought only 1 dining table light from Lights Station at Jalan Besar.. -
ya.. i know...i also search high and low...i want a squarish and clean lines sofa.. the one i showed is L-shaped but i'm not buying that...I just buy a normal 3 seater sofa. i bought this at Univonna at TradeHub in Jurong... even IMM dont even have this type of sofa, lucky passed by Tradehub. the price will differ depending on sizes and if you want L-shaped or normal... the damage for this is $1200..for a 8ft sofa....i assuming if you want smaller one, it could be cheaper... and you get to choose the fabric and color...

this week (week10) started rather slow...handover date is supposed to be this thurs....i do wonder if it's possible since many things seem not completed yet.. As of yesterday monday morning, things not yet completed: - mirrors not yet arrived. - kitchen top not installed. - all glass doors and walls not installed. - sanitary items not installed - still have 1 cabinet door not done yet. only the painter was there painting and touching up...

may i know for those of you who had already reno...do you have soft-closing cabinets? how many types of soft closing are there?? for mine, you have to open more than 45 degree to get the soft-closing effect....is that correct? if i open like 10 degree, the door will slam...noisily... i thought there is another type where it will soft closed no matter how wide you open the door....but my ID said that type is not good and will spoilt very easily... anyone who had soft closing...please comment...

finally my reno blog is up to date...this week is the last week... didnt have time to update week by week as it's been very busy - reno and work and shopping around for lights, sanitary items and stuffs.... hoping everything will go well this week.. ID informed that final cleaning, painting, varnishing and whatever are done next few days...

the electrician managed to fix up most of the lights and sockets last week as well... foyer living room sockets and switches
-
another major issue happened... electric box cannot open!! due to the door being boxed in... have to discuss with ID and carpenter how to fix it as we didnt see it coming.. sigh!!
-

for the past week which is week9, there are 5 carpenters working to get everything up... frankly speaking, i would like to watch them fix up the wardrobes and cabinets to ensure everything is correct but it's tough and I'm basically blocking their way around as well... But i went to check daily for an hour or so....and had discovered major issues.. master bedroom and bathroom wardrobe and cabinets sizes are wrong!! yes, ID showed me the dimensions agreed but when it's up, it is so wrong...it's right up to the door frames! imagine opening the door and you see the cabinet/ wardrobe right next to you....visually it's very enclosed!! asked to change the dimension shorter... then ouch!! one of the carpenter dent a hole in the kitchen wall!! sigh....tough work checking and asking them to be careful...

finally, the wood stuffs arrived after 3 weeks of waiting!! taking up all the space in the living room.....
-
end of week8, cleaning of the house to prepare for the woodworks.. everything looks "cleaner" without all the tiles, sand, cupboards lying around...

-
nice! good to be able to match the solid surface.,. mine is white but not practical to have a white sink...cannot imagine the cleaner and scrubbing...
-

some issues for windows as well. It seems that powder-coated window panels cannot be painted or sprayed over... i read that powder-coated stuffs are very durable and lasting...however, it seems previous owner didnt maintain and it turn yellowish a little and i have been cleaning and cleaning and still not any whiter.... anyone has any suggestion on the window panels cleaning?? the window handle is another issue... managed to get a similar from Handyman shop at Shaw building...but then depth of the handle is not correct .... sigh,,, and for those who want to buy hard to find hardwares stuff for house..try checking with the Handyman Centre....there are many things which you havent seen for ages and some hard to find stuffs.. the shop owners are very friendly as well..
