it's warm white for T5. (i use philips brand and all 4ft T5s, was told different brands, color might be different..dont know how true.) was told that cove lights normally use warm white. cannot use cool white and daylight is super glaring...not suitable for cove lights. also cannot use "warm" which is yellow lights i use cool white for my downlights.

so in the end, would i recommend my ID? I guess it's not a 100% yes....it will depend on what you are renovating. If you are just having your wardrobes and cabinets made for your new home with all the flooring done for the living, dining, kitchen, bedrooms and toliets...then i wouldnt recommend my ID to you. to be fair, it's not his fault but his carpenters are really not that good...it could be instructions not communicated properly or whatever...you need to be able to check and monitor daily for the duration when they are installing your cabinets and wardrobes. if you can't do that, i will suggest you look at my list of IDs (beginning of this blog) and go with A.Home.Story. we did monitor daily..thanks to my parents...and managed to get most of the mistakes corrected... I cannot imagine if you let them completed everything and you discovered it too late. however, if you are renovating whole place with hacking and new floorings. I will recommend my ID....his tilers are really good and they took the initiative to improve on the presentation and laying of the tiles.....and he does response promptly to my calls and texts....that is very important...which you will discover why when getting quotations from various IDs. only minus is that you have to monitor the woodworks. overall, not too bad...you can safely go with my top 3 choices (ideal house, ahomestory and touchless)...depending on what you are seeking...quotation/ budget? carpentry? flooring? etc.... good luck on your search for your ID...

Ideal House Id
monk8 replied to bubblepearl's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
Hi budgetbabe, mine is also Steven and my reno just completed.. since yours is almost completed, he could be doing both our houses at the same time...lol.. yes, his responses are very fast and prompt but the works slow down week 8 onwards...especially the woodworks. did you check the works done daily? i did and found many mistakes done by the glass guys and especially the carpenters.... have complained and my ID get them changed.... would suggest to keep an eye on the carpenters...if you found any mistakes on the day, complain to your ID and get it changed the next day. if you checked after a week, high chance changing to the cabinets/ wardrobes is harder. I think all IDs are the same, you cant expect them to work on your house only....they confirmed will have a few projects on hand..it's up to them to manage the schedule of each. if they cant managed then dont take on so many...as lousy work will reflect on their reputation. -

Ideal House Id

May I know who's your ID? Mine is finally completed 2 days back Monday....2 weeks delay. I have to agree the woodworks is not good...i dont know about the materials yet but the people installing the pieces...really headaches....you have to be there daily to check their works done for the day. I have requested for changes to the cabinets and wardrobes due to them not up to my requirement. My ID change for me whatever i want changed so i have nothing to complain yet...let's hope the materials stay good. Why didnt you get your ID to change whatever that is sticking out after a few months? i believed there should be a year of warranty at least... -
it had been a long week after the rectification....a week of re-checks again to get everything correct...sigh after replacing the 2 cracked tiles, the polishing is not up to standard so we requested for another round. we finally had the remaining 2 glass doors fixed up but when we checked all glass doors again...we discovered some lines on 1 glass door...sigh...why they so careless?? still dont know whether to change or not as we have been changing 3 out of 5 doors liao... the glass guys created some marks on the panquet so have to get the panquet guy to come in again to re-vanish.....hence the headaches whether to change or not.... after everything is done on thursday, we checked and we still need the floor polishing guy to come in again to touch-up the 2 tiles...and we still have the woodworks guy yet to seal up the wardribes with silicon.... it's going into week 13 next week....really hope these last remaining issues get completed....soooo tired mentally and physical...

day 3 of rectification week... what a day! went down in the morning so that i could monitor the glassworks...just in case they scratch or chip any more tiles. turn up they coming in the afternoon.... so waiting in the empty house while the polishing guy patched up the lines for the 2 replaced tiles, i decided to check on the floor again.... what a shocker! i found a tile right in the middle of the living room with a crackline right down the middle of the tile!! i dont understand...i have checked the whole room for days tile by tile, i couldnt have missed that line.... pointed out to ID, he suggested to polished it first, could be a surface crack.....okie if you say so but i highly doubt it given how the crack felt when i ran my finger thru it....sigh.... just in case, i do another 1-2 rounds of checking of the living room floor again...everything looks okie excpet for that piece.. end of the day, he called and said he will have it changed tomm... went down after work to have a check on the glassworks. glass door for the kitchen is fixed, yard door is adjusted...not bad.. common bathroom glass door is chipped...sigh...was promised a replacement next week... sigh... then before leaving the place, decided to have another round of checks on the living room again...dont know why..but just a feeling to check again... and what a BOMB!! there is another crack on another tile! what the **** is happening... I'm having compressed marble for living room...i called up Hafary and was told that compressed marble dont crack at all. does anyone here has reno with compressed marble?? how can cracks start to appear as and when? i checked in the morning and i definitely didnt see this crack..no way i missed it with all the lights on and the crackline is yellowish in color... very upsetting...everything almost done and yet the tiles start to have issues...after 7 weeks!!

thanks but it's really tough! you will see why at my next post...

today, went down around noon as that's when the tiler will come back to change the chipped tile from monday... dusty as well but not that bad compared to monday..was changed in an hour or so... woodworks came to install 2 of the cabinet doors...wrong size!! alamak!! didnt they measure?? sigh...said they will come back on Saturday instead... why Saturday!! why not tomm since it's their fault for not measuring correctly.... now left the glassworks, polishing of the newly cemented tiles and washing up...all scheduled for tomm... cross fingers and hope for smooth day tomm.

yesterday went down in the morning to inspect the rectification works. Tiler was there to change the 3 chipped tiles..really dusty.. Tile lines are whiten up for those that are yellowish.. The plumbers were surprisely able to make it Monday! Great, can fixed the leaking shower heads and fixed up all items that needed to be installed. Left early afternoon to let them work as it is very dusty due to changing of the chipped tiles. Came back in the evening to see the outcome.... NIce! tiles was changed very nicely anf neat! Then came the bad news! I found out another tile in the living room chipped with an even bigger hole!! what the **** happened? and there was an attempt to patch it wuth white cement but it is soooo obvious!! took a pic and send to ID... He was surprised but knew it had to be changed as it was very obvious... can't they be more careful with their bag/ box of tools....a bit heartache to have to change another tile!!
-
after friday handover, we have to wait for tomorrow for the rectify works to start. however, got a call from ID saying that the hole on the floor can be polish away....i'm like huh? wouldnt excessive polishing on a compressed marble tile make it unbalance when compared to the surrounding tiles??

from what i understand, you need to declare if over a certain amount per person... all the stuffs i bought dont need to declare as i have 4 pax headcount to split the amount. but if you are buying that large number of LEDs, you need to check how much in total as you might need to pay duty...or if you have more people tagging along...then perhaps dont need to pay any,,,

finally the day has come. today is the handover day...appt was in the afternoon so we went down after lunch. the first impression when stepping into the living room ...not bad...everything is white and smooth and white... okie then i start to do my inspection of each room while my parents help to make their rounds. Room by room i went....the list gets longer....and longer....sigh... paintwork still need more touch ups which i think is normal ... woodworks still have some doors and parts missing and was told that these will be completed by next tues... plumbing - water leakage for the shower heads and a very scratched shower mixer cover. the worst news of all....i have a dent made on 1 of living room floor tile!!! OMG!! why so careless....if not for that dent, the living room flooring is perfect!! now must get the skillful tiler to come back on monday to change. then discuss another 3 wall tiles in kitchen have a hole chipped off... even the kitchen top also kenna the same fate...2 dents at the side... so i guess the tiler has a lot of work to do ....provided no one chip or dent any more tiles... then the glass guys came to install the sliding door....another issue!! the door is slated so now have to remove the skitting to allow the door to sit in nicely against the wall.... sigh and then i saw a line on the glass door....is that a cut or a removable mark? alamak...why is there so much issue even on handover day.... i know we are supposed to check and the ID has 1 week to rectify these issues...but so many meh?? or is this common?? any advise from existing owners who had completed their reno???
-
went down yesterday to see how's the status....the handover date supposed to be yesterday. when there, saw the guy whitening the floor lines and polishing the living room...so we left since we dont want to distract him.

Kitchen Back Splash - Stainless Steel, T-Glass Or Mosaic Tiles?
monk8 replied to AhTeo's topic in Kitchen & Bathroom
i have T-glass for my reno. i have asked and from what i found out... T-glass is current, nice glass wall with many colors options, easy to clean..with water or with glass cleaner but it is glass so could break if you hit it with hard items. Stainless steel has a nice metallic looking wall, durable but i think someone mentioned scratches or something that makes me not even considered this Mosaic Tiles or tiles was my first choice until the color that i want is not available. I want a grey tiles wall with grey lines but cannot find any smooth grey wall tiles...so opt for T-glass instead. the reason i want tiles is becos it's smooth so easy to clean and the lines will be dark colour so will not get stains or get yellow and i dont have to worry about it breaking or get scratch easily. so TS, if you want tiles or mosaic, you cannot have white lines for the tiles...go for dark color lines..easier to maintain. -

I bought my LED cool whites square downlights from here. i think it's on sale and cost 48MYR. If you plan to buy the same one, do check that they didnt give you the old model where you can see 9 light bulbs...it's supposed to be "frosted" and cannot see the light bulbs one. Lucky I checked when they are testing out all the lights for me, if not i will end up with the ugly older version. I also buy my kitchen light here...125MYR and it's LED and very bright.. 1 T8 is enough.
