At first i did not want to use this contractor as he actually sound quite lukewarm over the phone as in meeting me, as i have not got my keys yet, and he prefer to survey on site and give quote on site, but then after i called my friend, he insisted me to get him, so i called him and meet up with him, he gave me lots of assurance, well i am in tight budget, really tight and yet my significance other demand good quality and fast must be done before Chinese New Year.... so it's a big challenge, anyway i feel i can trust him so i sign up with him on next week. have not yet settle from house moving, still like what Makanology said .... have too much things to donate to people due to no store room... so was busy tidy up and also working and cleaning.... so sorry for the slow updating, cos most of the time was so tired tidy up and thinking how to arrange furniture.... cannot believe still tidy up after few weeks moving in.. Well not all went well after settling in, still have some "touch up" need to get done by the contractor, such as the toilet grouting, anyway, the contractor say anything just call him, so there some small small things that need to "touch up" .. i am consolidating everything that need touch up and will call him to do it in one shot. the only bad thing about this contractor is he is quite forgetful... you need to keep on reminding him as he don't take down notes... so most of the times i take down notes and remind him, since he do his best to keep his promise, things that he said he will do it and give discount or he did not charge as long as he mention, he will keep it...(after some reminder from me of course) Personally i think his workmanship is about 7/10, not so perfect, still you can ask him to do touch up and follow up, maybe because its chinese new year rushing job, but still grateful he can finish nicely for us and for this guy you may need to see him at least once a week as in deciding what you want to do for the house, since no 3D pictures to show, because i meet him at least once a week to check on the house progress and deciding on those toilet stuff, lightings so on and so forth.. in terms of responsibility he is 9/10.. he is a responsible guy as in he return your calls. he is not a perfect contractor, but glad for his help in finishing the job fast, with follow up, advice, i think he is honest also can be trusted and definitely cost me lesser with no headache and i can sleep at night knowing the job is going to be on time... hahahaha... In future if i have more problems in my house as in change the fan, change the lighting, or just renovate again ( which i think not going to happen at least in the next 10 years) i will just drop a call him for the jobs.. to me its easier... for those who may need to visualize via 3D pictures so to get better idea on the flat and need someone to monitor the progress for you due to tight work schedules and don't mind paying higher, ID would be a better choice

Thanks Makanology for your words of compliment and thank you for waiting, actually thanks to my contractor, he is the one who ask me to keep the flooring since its in good condition and broken marble are cooling and suitable for our weather here in singapore during... oh well... need to do alot of "SUPER SPRING CLEANING"... Z3phy .. oh well guess people at that time like this kind of design...hahaha, hope all went well with your reno ? At first we want to hack off the marble too... but since the contractor said the flooring still in good condition so decided to keep to save reno cost .... haha..

On the 4th Days.... of reno.... update 1. Living room -- eh seems like no change leh (4th days) 2. view from Living room towards the Kitchen (4th Days) - blemish my contract and my pictures as i promise him that i would not show his face and i also quite shy. 3. Master Bedroom 4th days 4. Bedroom 2 on the 4th days 5. Bedroom 3 on the 4th days wall tiles for kitchen is up.... other than that on 4th days its even more messier than 1st day.... i still want my marble tiles...

by the way, it's only the fourth day and on the pictures 3, my contractor already asked his wire men to come to do the re-wiring... fast, fast, i was there to decide on the wiring as well...

Continue MY post! Ultimate DEMOLITION.. ( totally chaos..) 1. Hacking done in LIVING ROOM 2. Kitchen - all hack off 3. Master Bedroom - the toilet all hack off... 4.Bedroom 2 - filled with tiles that we have selected, contractor use it as a store room to store tiles as its the room that is with the least renovation.. 5. Bedroom 3 - as you can see the cornice ceiling that was previous there has been hacked off, and it's day 2, my contractor has already re-build the hollow block wall.. fast appreciate it alot.. thank you so much mr.contractor.. sadly not show in the pictures... but it there in the second day..

Retaining the marble floor..because contractor say marble floor is good... expensive to hack off and expensive to put it back.. just need to polish will do and will be as good as new.. personally i also like the broken marble... so i am fine

9. Living Room Ceiling.. this must go .. make way for re-wiring 10. Common Toilet - very very very small small common toilet... very small.. imagine cannot fit wash basin yet need to fit in wash basin... headache.. anyway the simple reno is done.. 11. kitchen wash basin - to be removed and then move to inside of common toilet.. even though the space of common toilet is small... oh well... we have done it... very small though...still happy that we done it

5. Master Bedroom Toilet 6. 3rd bedroom cornices need to hack off.. to make way for re-wiring...and its over 20 over years i guess, must go... 7. Roman Pillars.... NEED TO GO..... 8. Front Gates - more than 20 years ol.. no windows grills previously installed to whole of the house, so must re-install the window grills... the front gates, was hesitate to change at the end.. we change and glad that we do..

View from Living Room window from previous owner, theirs is malay kampung style and the reno had been done 20 over years ago, they hack the bedroom 3, which i must re-build the wall for bedroom 3 - hollow block 2. View to kitchen, previous had a store room and was hack off, the tiles for kitchen is quite some time, going to change the kitchen walls and floor tiles. 3.Kitchen Sink.... 4. view from entry to Master Bedroom

hi Z3phy and spike doll my floor unit is super small.. only 86sqm meter, floor plan does look amazingly deceivingly.. haha Finally update of my reno... 100% satisfied!!! with my contractor and the amount that i spent.. its the minimal.. include re-wiring, tiling all up for kitchen wall tiles, floor tiles, open kitchen concept, windown grilled ( iron wrought gate not aluminium window grill!) it's has been done today ! (not officially) i am highly pleased with my contractor, highly pleased, cos i am inexperience abit don't know what to do and just want to use the little that i have to maximize to the max... it's not totally a luxury design but i am pleased with the amount money that i paid i get quality stuff!! and be able to bought some lightings and toilet stuff in an affordable prices! i have no regrets for choosing this contractor and i really thank God for him, we still have some hiccups, but he did many extra things for me without charging me and most importantly.. He FINISH MY RENOVATION OF 2 TOILETS, KITCHEN, RE-WIRING, CEILING in 25 DAYS!!! WOOOHOOOOO.. Yeah you are totally correct ! too rash a decisions for first reno project. no 3D, no idea, know abit only... still rushing, Since have signed...now can only... ... pray... God blessed us aih and i thought i learn my lessons.. bought a fabric sofa yesterday at a quick and rash decisions at $1398 per set , include ottoman in the first shop, with extra cover for the whole sofa sets (so can change if children dirty it )... now abit regret because the decision i made is too fast !! the sofa is fabric, feel cosy, can change cover to wash it every 3, 5 or 6 months..or 1 year, depending.. and i am getting the display set because its the last set... anyway bought already... regret also no choice, so expensive some more, basically just want to get a cheap cheap $400 bucks leather sofa set and end up i got this one... share the photo of the fabric sofa. in the mean time, shared the floor plan. may be quite busy and not updating the post and the updates will be SUPER slow... so is with the replying, thanks for understanding.

benefit from the forum and i hope to share to benefit others, 1st reno and 1st home and really feel like just out of kampung bcos everything is so new !! Collecting Keys soon at 4-Jan for 4-room at Tampines, going to do a simple reno for kitchen and 2 bathroom, mid of dec 2012 - met 7 ID's in a week and a contractor in order to get the quote (cheapest hopefully), manage only to get 2 quotes and decided on that week itself its the contractor, as he is the fastest in giving quotes (the next day, impression efficient), highly recommended by a sincere uncle, look honest.. crossed my fingers, posted out photo soon before and after. (if manage to find time ) thanks for those who shared their experience. it helps me in deciding my ID's or Contractor.
