1st and 2nd method is of course useful and its something that has to be reminded to everyone's wife/gf to do. As for the 3rd method it is good too if your wife/gf is the "fierce" type whom can look into a person's eye without blinking or looking away. Else she should better shout out "gui tiam liao?" or "gui lao?" if not, and she just say "what time huh?" or "which floor you going" then it maybe just a GO signal to the suspect. I am definitely going for the CCTV idea.. or better still a CCTV with a link to the NPP for recording.. else they will be doing.........(i duno what)........... anyway. just give them some job and give use some peace... -

Quote from MDA : "The annual TV Licence fee for each residential property is $110 from 1 January to 31 December, regardless of the number of TV sets installed within the property. If you apply for a TV Licence after 1st January, the licence fee payable will be pro-rated to 31st December of the same year. For online applications made in the month of December, the licence fee payable will be pro-rated to 31st December of the following year. " -

That's a **** good idea!! So this Tanglin xxx pte ltd is not dealing with XXX stuff right? Or maybe I should just consider working in Sengsong or sell char quay teow in koufu.. haha... so thats how you keep all the cars in the carpark. Actually do you guys really think there are so many cars using commonwealth ave? or is it that there are too many traffic lights (there are 3 traffic lights from Commonwealth MRT to Queenstown MRT)... or maybe they should just bulit underpass for pedestrian or flyover for cars. Anyone have alternative route from tanglin halt to lengkee road and bypass all the gantries at AYE, commonwealth ave, alexandra road and bukitmerah without burning even more fuel? Margaret drive is a good option but need to u-turn at holland road and then u-turn at redhill... this may cost more then the ERP itself -

Hello MaCe, Thanks for your wonderful tips in this forum. It was from reading your post that i also wanted to convert all my ballast to electronic type as i cannot stand the flickering during startup and at the same time saving some electricity. However, after researching thru the sites, got a few questions about the electronic ballast that you use for the T5: According to Phillips catalogue, EB-E 136 TLD is meant for TLD model (which is a T8) at 36W. I suppose you connect this ballast to your 4 feet T5 lamp (equvalent to Phillip's TL5 28W), won't this spoil your T5 lamp very fast as there is an overcurrent in the tubes? Or should you be using a EB-E 128 TL5? I have been searching around for the phillips e-ballast, but yet to find the correct one. Do you know of a place where they carry more models of the e-ballast? cheers!

hey is that your kid's photo for your new avatar? cute! gar-ment also difficult to satisfy every one lah.. price too low, current owner angry, price too high new owner angry.. seems like they are just basing their price on the current valuation minus some subsidy (according to hdb) which means that on average, to factor in the subsidy, the actual worth of the unit is $30-40k above this selling price. As can see, even with such high price, the 4-room is queenstown is already 5 time oversubscribe in just half a day. btw, i am not complaining too -

Actually there are already quite a few websites that is dedicated to our neighbourhood (renotalk, sgbride, yahoo group, friendster etc). However the problem is that our neighbourhood seems to be quite small and the number of internet savvy guys/gals that frequently logs on are even smaller, esp. when everyone start to settle in and seldom log-on anymore. Then the effort to create this will be wasted and diminished in time. Unlike those bigger estate/development where the number is sustainable. Maybe its better to include the entire Tanglin Halt, but then.. it may invite unwanted attention from the wrong people... That said, it would still be nice that there is a way for everyone to stay connected, informed and know each other from door to door. I hate going into the lift with another neighbour but behaving like stranger and the silence is deafening. I would not mind hosting a website and sponsering for a great IP address, but how do we ensure participation? -

So how you find the recordings? Does it sound chilling? i suppose those neighbours staying below and above can hear it thru the kitchen and toilets too. But no one has yet come up with any complains, maybe they are also waiting for someone else to act or maybe i can get them to be 'witness' also. Stomp is a good idea! but to take a video seems too 'voyuer'. And the neighbour will definitly knows who is filming it if the authority come knocking on their door to show them evidence. We are still on good terms with them and don't like to make enemies. Just wanted the authorities to advise them for counselling or something like that. I don't think I will be able to break the ice to tell them to go for counselling? Another gathering sounds great! Sorry to miss all the gathering so far ... hope to really make it this time.. keep me posted! Well, i will add my name in... !! Hello All, As i have previously mentioned before about the way my neighbour is lecturing their kids. It has recently getting more and more common, and most of the times its very chilling. I really cannot imagine how the kids are going thru this. Me and my wife's heart just goes to the kids whom we estimate to be below 6years old. Just want to seek everyone's comment after listening to the recording made below on one of the evening at around 9:30pm. (you may need audio player like Realplayer to listen to this) http://download19.mediafire.com/x5yygmmnyc...1dx/Beating.amr This is not the worst episode. We are really suspecting that its a case of domestic violent. What supprises us is that the father appears to be very friendly when we see him and he will normally say hello and so on.. Was wondering what we should do? Should we just hand the case over to the police? but what the police can do about it anyway? -

I did not take up any package. He will just quote you depending on your requirement and make itemised quote. There are no hidden cost, but you will have to take note of things that are not included in the quote e.g. sand & haulage, electricals, last minute addition/item changes. I suggest you factor in 10-20% for these extra cost that may incur during the reno phase. The total cost for the reno of my 4 room is 23K incl. electrical, sys4 inverter a/c, hacking of one kitchen wall etc. but did not do up the toilet. -

Hello and welcome to the neighbourhood! My contractor was COOS and Eric was the ID. Generally quite satisfied with their carpentary and masionary work. The only thing to watch out is the parquet work (i suppose they subcontract to another company) that you may need to monitor more. I maybe engaging them again to do up my toilet later this year... You got your unit from the enbock of margret drive or from recent WIS? -

1st, thanks for the information, it should be very helpful to many pple. 2nd, to make a light its very easy, to last, it not so easy. since you already got what was installed by these idiots, pls check all the ratings (ballast, starter, and more importantly lamp) and make sure they match, you may need to check up a few webstes (esp. phillips) or consider changing the whole set to electronic balllast including lamp (minus the starter as e.ballast dont need starter). it might be a blessing in disgust if you can change all to the correct rating. PS: lamp is not cheap, electricity is worst. -

oh yaya, air con=sucker! inverter/not. easily cost over 100 per month. In recent month, i seldom on air-con, just open window wide wide, and with fan blowing, very cold already. my average bill is (stabilised) around $100 including gas/water/elec. I use my washer/dryer twice a week. btw, 5-room unit pay more! and watch out for those electrical air-port that boils water when temp. is down, if you plug in 24hrs = $$$ gone... just my 2rmb... ps: hope to get another chance for dinner soon! -

Great to have some one else sharing our woes, pls let use know if HDB is replacing it with a better ones. i don't believe in flushing away 7L of water to clear the sh**t ya man we are not the prototype owner! with this price! sakae, (joe) is your 160 the stabalise one or the estimate one? they (PUB) estimate base on your prevoious reading, so initially it may not be too accurate... takes a few months to know the exact compsumption.. -

Tried again yesterday, I have just found that if the water level in the tank is 7L, the flushing will be more "efficient". However, the maximum setting is only 6L if you turn the control valve's cross-screw clockwise until stop, and you can see a 6L marking on the side of the tank. What you need to do after turning it to max, is to add a little weight to sink the top of the blue float so that the water level will increase further. Maybe you can do a test to see which level is the best. I wouldn't mind wasting 1 litre more than to flush twice.. Oh yes, those automatic bidet washing toilet bowl is GREAT! Saw a few in tokyo that is ranging from around S$3-8k. wow , must have a golden butt to own one of those. Did not look source around in singapore as no $$ yet to upgrade the toilet mine cost SGD80 also... for relocation of each sockets. -

Ya seems like a quick press and release works a little bit better then press and hold. But most cases still have to press twice.. At first I thought this maybe due to the contractor pouring cements in the toilet bowl and blocked it. And since both toilets are the same and after some checks, there are no cements in it. So just have to blame on the quality HDB uses for this bowl. I suppose complaining to the BSC also no use right?
