  1. Shoe cum storage cabinet : (there are no ventilation holes cos mine is full height cabinet, so no place to put these holes, except on the front door. carpenter say can put something like a rectangle with louvres, made of metal (matte look) but i think its really ugly - will spoil the look of my shoe cabinet - but my mum says its good to hv louvres, otherwise cabinet will be smelly! how then? im still contemplating whether to have the lourves installed- the rectangular pc of lourves is like the size of half a pc of a4 paper) Bedframe only (comes with side drawers) : I brought my colleague to see my house during lunch time, and she commented that the carpentry is quite good )) so happy. Hehee. I'm quite happy with the carpentry skills in general. So far, so good exccept the usual touching up here and there lar.
  2. Under white lights : Under yellow lights :
  3. my bathmixer plus the rain shower is purchased from the sanitary shop. its not a set, its mix n match - means i choose the kind of mixer i want, the type of shower head (round or square). HDB did not give me any mixer.
  4. This is the handle supplied to me. See first pic, the rim is not truely round. At the edge of the rim, got this dark mark like sandpaper used to rub the rim.... When I voiced out to the installer why like this, he said its like this- "mo liao jiu zhe yang" (means rub already its like this). I said wan to change, he said its like that one. The company used is A PLus Glass (the worker wear this red t-shirt) Is it true? Only the third pic is a perfect rim. But the first two pics shows a shoddy products. Is your glass door handle like this? This is my kitchen door. Also, why when I push the door forward, there is a creeking sound. If I pull it, then no sound.
  5. Im thinking of such carpets First one the thread is thinner. Second one is thicker, like a mao mao cong. Hmm.. which is better? Mao mao cong feels a bit hard under the feet.
  6. Resolved! Yeah! Thanks bruddies and sisters.
  7. MY ID checked, and we realised the lights will go off after on the light switch for 5min. My ID say the siwtch box 1st button is spoilt, change it will solve the problem. He say will ask the electrician to go n buy the switch.. *Scratch head* hmm..
  8. The doors of all my kitchen cabinet is supoosed to be slanted at the top, so that can open easily. Due to some miscommunication, our carpenter thought we did not want a slanted top, and do it straight. Straight at the top - makes the door so difficult to open. Somemore, there is no groove, so sometimes you thought its this side to open, when its not! Now I want the carpenter to do slant, but he said cannot already, unless tear off the whole cabinet, which is impossible. So suggest, do the groove onto the doors, and drawers. Either this, or we install compressed handles. If install compressed handles on the bottom orange cabinet, wouldn't it look very strange? Bottom got handles, top no handles?
  9. Hmmm.. got this from an associated link - sharing.. http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7083
  10. mao mao cong, worms. i know evov selling at $400+ and also OM selling, forgot how much, abt same price i think or more. look like big fat worm, got many colours, grey, black, red etc. but hor, how do we know if the carpet is of good quality? meaning the worm wont drop out, or wont be sucked out if i use vacuum cleaner on them. how about the base of the carpet - cos i know lousy ones will crumble after time (like a few years time) and the floor will look messy with the bits and pieces of crumbs.
  11. Im thinking of buying a carpet to fit my 2.6m sofa. In trend are those mao mao carpet, a bit look like a big at worms.. Any place to get cheap carpets? Those I see - for eg. Evov Living cost about $300 to $500. Anything around $200?
  12. Sianz Normal looking, so so only. Bad choice of colours..(chosen by me lor) My dish tray look big and good! The hydralic I see got a sticker that says "Germany".. Progress real slow yesterday, only 1 worker doing until 730pm when we arrive... poor boy..
  13. Good news, finally my glass door has been changed, and can fit my frame nicely with small little gap which my finger cant go thru. My glass door been replaced last night at 6pm, only I call him repeatedly the last few days to get an update. He always revert to say the glass pple not yet revert. So in the end, I said " if you face any problem, give me their no, I will call them myself! U tell them the customer is not happy and is rushing for it". See lar, must call, scold, nag, threaten ID then will agree to change. Whats wrong wif these pple? (Still got stupid reasons as in glass cannot cut slanted. Full of rubbish!) Glass door been changed, but not very happy cos of all the rubbish I got to go thru just to get one single thing done. (Hubby always ask me to be bad guy- sometimes very tired from all these. He is also bz at work, so no time to call.) Getting an ID is supposed to help us, cos we are all working, no time and no knowledge about renov. In the end, some of these things we also need to do. My stainless steel handle is not glossy type. Its matte and I wanted to have a glossy one (see the pic below) - I want a similar one, but in gloss same as shower screen type. But my ID says this is better, so that if hands oily oily or salty (fr cooking) hold onto the handle, it will not tarnish, leave marks, stains easily. He say its better quality than the glossy handle which we have for our shower screen. Anyone knows - can help? Now I dont even know to believe him a not.. after all these things, u know, there is no more faith. So very glad that there is this forum and you guys out there are so helpful in sharing knowledge and info, if not people like me (newbie in renov) will be conned left n right, top n bottom. After all these issues (glass issue, aircon issue, etc etc) - Such ID is to avoid at all costs, unless you have loads of time, extra heart to take on such nonsense.
  14. its for the kitchen tempered glass.
  15. The flexible pipe sega! The story continues.. .. the plumber supposed to come today or tomorrow to fix up the rest of the plumbing. But I need to get this extension to extend out my bath mixer so that the plumber can install for me. Since we both are working every day, no time to pick up that extension nozzle from the sanitary shop, I requested my ID to help me pick it up, or ask the plumber to pick it up, so that the plumber can come on Friday to do our home. My ID asked us to change the plumber to come next Mon or Tue, so that we ourselves can pick up the items from the shop this weekend. Our ID cannot even help us with one simple task such as picking up the item from Balestier when his ID shop is in Toa Payoh. Guess I should not compare, but can't help it lor, can't help when I think about how my colleague raved about her ID (such as help to buy switches when they got the wrong types, give free door bell, some of the little things that the ID do for her, and somemore her renov cost is also about the same as mine, not as if she is paying a lot for the ID service). Well, what to do, from every tiny thing, we got to do ourselves. Such as getting 2 pcs of valves for the spray hose, getting this nozzle extensions. This is the difference in service between a merticulous, responsible and helpful ID to a bo-chap, cant-be-bothered ID. Now I know how it feels like to be super siannzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz --- "all thanks" to such an ID. U engage someone to be your ID, and it feels like every single little small thing must do it yourself. Now must take time off from work to run to the Sanitary shop in Jln Besar to get the extensions.. somemore that place so inaccessible.
  16. See above - Look like work in progress and they left in a hurry? Maybe getting late liao See above - Regret I choose this colour "supposed to be golden thai silk colour" but turn out not nice one! I think it look worse with a silve handle. what to do now, bo pian, think cant change laminate leow. Another pic of my kitchen
  17. Workers snacks (chips, bun, empty green tea can) all left open unwrapped on top of my carpentry... even after they knock off for the day.
  18. Understand what u mean. And ID also cant find solutions for me.. Until todate, he hasnt revert on my slanted door, say will check. Since last Mon till this week already. I told him I got a quotation (somemore $100 cheaper than his quote) that they can customise a 10mm tempered glass fit to my odd measurements, so he better solve my problem. Somemore, I think most HDB walls are slanted to some extend, I dont see people building a wooden frame around the tempered glass door..? They told me to choose Best Top Solid surface, cos workmanship is good, better than Cresto. They say material is the same for both is the same, same price, but the workmanship for Best Top is better than Cresto. Does this sound odd?
  19. hmm, what are u curious about? I think was $3.4K. So far ok. Got sweating at one corner, and got them to install extra rubber padding. Too early to say also, cos only installed for a few weeks, and as u know, we hardly on it since its still renov time. Must use for few months to a year, then can say. =========== Light that I bought - one of them also got problem. Like beri suay. Kitchen long light - one of the long light tube keeps blinking and blinking. After I replaced a new tube, its ok for a few days, then start blinking blinking again. What does this mean? It means the ballast is spoilt is it? Or the whole light is rotten? The light already fixed up my ceiling, so cannot take down to exchange right? The sanitary shop guy says most pple got no problems with the installation. They dont need to buy the extra nozzle - whether for concealed as well as exposed piping. So far, he said only 1 person buy from him. Or is it my plumber lousy?? I dun understand and Im stuck with this problem for quite some time. Sianzz..
  20. close up of how near it is. just imagine instead of the flexible pipe, there is supposed to be a steel rod going down and turning right to fix to the bottom part of the bath mixer. and u can visualise how near it it going to be - practically kissing each other. so if i turn on my bath mixer, cant even turn it on, cos will knock into the steel rod. actually the steel rod is within the same package, but the plumber din't install it and fix up this flexi tube instead. strange plumber right? somemore din inform my ID. (maybe its not the pumbler job to point out whats wrong, but just to install it?) dunno leh.. is it really a defect/ design - hmm, apple freak, u sound quite right.. i wonder anyone else facing this problem.
  21. figured out that there is supposed to be a steel rod stretching down to my bath mixer, but the distance is so near that they (the steel rod and the bath mixer) is kissing each other, so cannot be installed. hence the plumber install this flexi pipe instead. so funni right, got problem why nobody inform me.. i think plumber nvr tell my ID, and he also dunno whats wrong until i pointed out. after pointed out and ask him (ID), then he know got this problem. gosh~ bang head solution accroding to ID and my snaitary shop is to buy a nozzle to extend the bath mixer out.
  22. see my stupid rain shower giving me big problem.... see that flexible pipe, it is supposed to be a rainshower steel rod, instead of that stupid lookig flexible pipe. i figured out that my shower set look weird when compared to magazines.. (sigh!) my hubby tot it looked ok, and ok to accept it. cannot right? look so ugly.. after consulting ID, he said can either shift my btah mixer to sideway, so that the steel rod will not kiss the bath mixer, then i can turn on my bathmixer, or i can buy something to extend out my bath mixer. after checking with the shop, i was told to buy a 3/4" nozzle to extend the bathmixer out by a bit, so will solve my problem. asked my ID to ask the plumber to get one set for us cos we are too buzy with work to go down to our shop. he said he scared the plumber buy wrong one for us, so better we buy ourselves. (wah!) i asked the shop (Royal Franco) - he said this is a standard kind for bathmixer (3/4") so will not go wrong. alternatively, can ask my ID or the plumber to get from him direct. hopefully this is the ultimate solution to my headache..
  23. Workers tools - nicely put in their 'luggage', 'cart', etc. Quite neat workers.. I have not met them so far, but they have nicely kept their tools whenever I vist the flat at night. For the past 2 nights when I visit, there is no nails, etc on my floor.
