can see anything? my problem is that according to my ID's tilers - my 2 toilets are done by HDB, so after their acid wash, the groutings get washed off. If my ID tiler were to re-fill the grouting, it will not be the same colour as the groutings that were done by HDB. tiler: u wan me to re-fill the grouting? but ours is white colour, not the same colour as your original HDB grouting. i can apply for u, but it will not be the same colour - will look ugly. even if i do for u, when u wash the floor, with time, the groutings will get washed off too. me: y u cannot make the same yellow colour grouting to do? tiler: cannot lor. cos HDB is special mixed colours. ours is yellow. me : then u all apply white grouting over the whole floor for me? tiler: cannot apply all. those no gaps, or little gaps, little hollows, we can't apply grouting.. even if apply, will get washed off after a few times of washing the floor. ID: yeah.. cannot do tiler: thats why a lot of house owners call us to over lay their bathroom, cos the groutings will be the same. use HDB one, always will have this problem How, folks? Is that what u encounter? I'm lost already./

oh dear, my case is : my tv set is delivered & installed, and my dining table is also here. now pending for delivery of rest of furniture - fridge, washer and sofa this sat. now we're at the last stage of my renov.. touching up and rectiifications, and final general cleaning this week (before sat). read that xie tu must be b4 furniture come in. so i guess i must either have my xie tu before this sat, or delay the delivery date to subsq week? for me, we are thinking of moving in the furniture first, but we dont need to move in to stay there yet. this place is only for our weekend stay before our AD next yr.

i got a custom made bedframe newly made. My mattress is not yet delivered. however, due to being v tired from cleaning the home (my renov is still in progress) , i lay and dozed off on the bed frame (just the frame, without the mattress) myself. my hubby also lay there for a rest, but did not sleep. so does it mean an chuang is useless now? oh dear.. i tot no mattress is ok..

I think my carpenter is also quite good - responsible, honest, good attitude and friendly. Though I cant say the same for the rest of the workers.. think my plumber and electrican is the worst.

My whole renov seems to be taking so long.. another week will be a big 3 month job for a 5 room standard renov. Though Im not in a hurry to move, but still 3 months is a reallllly loooooong time to take. I did specify a handover date on contract, but things just got delayed and delayed. On this Tue, carpenter came to touch up, electrician came too. On Wed, plumber came, as well as the tiling guy. On Fri, painter and tiling guy came again. Next Tue painter got to came again, cos no more living room and door paint left - so need to buy new stock of paint. Sianz got to wait again.. Each time they come, they dont do a proper job and I see problems here n there. So in the end, I got to take leave and be present and supervise them to do this and that, here and there. So wasting of time. Actually am I supposed to oversee this, or is the ID supposed to make sure they do their work properly? Anyway, I guess its good to be around, cos I want to see that they do everything nicely once and for all. The funny thing is that "Painting of whole house including doors" - It means only paint the bedroom doors. Main door is not counted. The most is can paint with the lacquer (transparent liquid) only. Cannot paint with colours." I get quoted $1,100 for the paint job. I tot should include painting the main door isnt it?

I forgot to say hi, or inform my neighbours before starting renovation. And during my renov, really got some neighbour complain to HDB that works are noisy on a Sat. (yeah.. my ID fault, works are not supposed to be done on Sat actually). Anyway, no matter who it is, I'm thinking of buying someting to give my neighbours after my renov is formally over. How not sure what to give - cakes, muffins? fruits? or like 6-pack drinks (but very heavy leh)? I have 3 neighbours on my floor only, plus 2 neighbours - one directly up and another down my floor. Should be ok right? These 5 neighbours on my floor are : - young couple, very frenly - family in their 40s, with 2 kids, plus old parents - young couple, looks very serious, never smile (seen the guy, nvr see the lady tho') - downstairs - young couple, looks frenly, but complained that my reno created cracks in their walls, which I hv asked my ID to attend to it. - upstairs - never meet them, but its a big family with children, maid, and dripping mops..

My ID do grouting after acid wash again for me. But not all places are done. The floor man said he will re-apply grouting for tiles that lost 'a lot of' grouting. But those that 'lost a bit' of grouting only, even if he re-apply for me, it will not stay. They will be washed off when i clean/ wash my floor. Is it correct?? Cos it looks weird that some of the gaps are filled, and some of them are not (only 80% filled). Somemore, in my MBR toilet, the grouting is of a different colour - that time the HDB do my toilet grouting to be a bit yellowish. Now my ID floor man colour is whitish.. so asked if different colour can a not? Of cos cannot right? I asked them to re-apply white colour grouting all over my MBR toilet tiles, so that will be same colour (not some yellowish grouting, some white groutiing). Then same reason again as above again --- "The floor man said he will re-apply grouting for tiles that lost 'a lot of' grouting. But those that 'lost a bit' of grouting only, even if he re-apply for me, it will not stay. They will be washed off when i clean/ wash my floor." How? Is this how it goes?

Those Who Do Tiles In Their Master Bedroom
mint replied to mint's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
ok thanks pals! cos nowadays many pple do their bedroom in laminate, so hardly can find anyone to compare with mine.. and my old old house comes with 2 toilets in the kitchen (no toilets in MBR) so duno how to compare. -
Is this hood wire supposed to dangle like this? Is there any way we can tidy it up/ keep it neater? I dont feel like want to waste the space on the top shelf. But looks like my pans will be touching the wire if I keep them on the top shelf.
-
what is meant by re-wiring? is mine considered as shifting points in the room? maybe will be more expensive if they charge me by re-wiring? 1. my tel pt. was shifted from one side of the MBR to the other side of the MBR - they make the tel pt there in the first pic. 2. i asked them for another SCV pt, so make an SCV pt for me (shown in the second pic). But they need to add this connector thing in the MBR SCV pt - thats what u see in the first pic. PS: first pic is the MBR, second pic is a BR only. oh by the way, i asked my ID already. He said light switch and electrical switch can connect nicely without showing the cable. Means the wires can go thru the two sockets box, but not for tel. pt and SCV pt. He say otherwise there will be noise interruption/ interference with the tv progm. If the wire go thru the 'electrical' socket, then will have these inteferences. True a not?? I really dunno..

i will be installing 2 lights at the vanity top light pelmet. i thought PLC energy saving will be good, but my other half likes those yellow halogen lights. i think halogne lights are not recommended cos - yellow lights, very hot n stuffy - 'die' off faster - cos only got some 1,000 hours of life? - hear that in bathroom, its not good to have halogne lights due to the moisture in the bathroom, so the light will spoil faster ID says PLC round light is too big to fit into the pelmet.. ID going to charge me $80 for supply and install the round lighting pt with switches including running of light point. Ok a not?

Will show the actual items when they are delivered to my place

Hmm, is your cabling like this? I ask to connect another SCV pt, and there it is, with a white cable. The 3 pin socket is provided by HDB. Is there a way that they can do without that white cable?

i have a question. i see that when your carpentry is in, the protection sheet on still not removed. is it u did not opt for chemical wash? pple say that there are many types of chemical wash. as long as its not the powerful type, your homo tiles can still take it. or is it that after chemical wash, yr ID still install the protection cardboards?
-
ok, problem has been rectified by electrician..
-
Help! My electrican say wire not long enough, so the SCV pt cannot shift downwards.. My tel pt. will be shifted downwards beside the socket so that the switches are aligned. Is it true??! Or is the electric just trying to bruff his way thro'?

This kind of workmanship - 1) why the pipe overlap each other? i think no need to overlap. just interchange the two piping will do, right? the Hot and Cold points can interchange - I heard can pull out that thing (that show H & C) and change it to the other way. 2) the joining part For no 1 - my ID reply is that the left side is always hot water, and right side is always cold water. Its dangerous to interchange!! (cos hot water come out unexpectedly may scald pple!) Reply : Then why dont do the pipes correctly from the other bathroom, so that no need to interchange? ID: Cannot, cos the other bathroom the pipes are fixed already. One bathroom will always have this overlap problem. True meh?? I need to go home to check. Pls Help..

Problem With My Vanity Top Mirror & That Ugly Thick Silicon
mint replied to mint's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
Why my toilet towel accessory can swing. turn around? Is it plumber never screew tight huh? -
I feel that the sides of my glass frame is very wide - and looks very ugly even tho' filled with silicon. The silicon is so thick that its about the size of my first finger. Feel that its unacceptable - cos its so ugly. The carpenter says its because the HDB walls is not straight, thats why the spacing becomes bigger and bigger from the top to the bottom. Arghh.. but I think its very ugly - but my hubby think its ok. Shall I make a frameless mirror then? Mirror can cut slant right, so my silicon will not be so thick. Silicon is meant to be a little only, sparingly applied at the joints.. but not if the spacing its too big. But carpenter say if cover with laminate will not be nice too, cos he must cut laminate and then I will see the joining of the laminates. Oh dear! See pics - where I mark the 'place' where the silicon is. Lucky my laminate is white. If its brown, how??
-
Vanity top : Cold & hot water piping - very ugly (brainless plumbers) - this needs to go! Solid surface up! Master bedroom wardrobe (i shld not hv chosen the beige laminate - too bad, too late to change now)

Hi Mist! May I know where u got your carpet ? Second one is the mao mao cong type? And how much? My partner says it feels hard one pc by one pc, like something under the feet. Not smooth and comfy.
-
ehh, what u mean>? u mean its not really tempered??
-
OK, no lar, combination come out not so bad afterall. Unfinshed vanity top (left solid surface). Do you all face this problem? What do you do with the black rubber hose to the hod? Just leave it there, and then you use the rest of the space to put pots, pans or cans? Groove added on, cos of mis-communication. But feels very rough, feels the wood. We wanted a slanted door frame, but carpenter thought we wanted a level door frame. The PLumber boys made a crack in my glass!
