Hey meowie49, Thanks for the pictures! How did u manage to get into the units??? The main door would hv looked better if it were darker coloured. The toilet colour is disappointing...blue tiles with beige sink & WC (if i din see the color wrongly),wat a strange combination. if i'm not wrong the kitchen with flooring is the 4 rm flats ya? does it hv wall tiles too? Can't really see... So those getting keys this month...can tk more pictures of the flat?

I just went to check my HDBpage! The Application Status is now: "HDB will invite you to take possession (ie collect keys) of your new flat in due course." Let's wait eagerly to see how long is "due course".

Thanks for the updates! Mine (Blk79C) is also 4Q2007! But actually i also hope to get keys later so that we can save more money first. So those who are getting their keys 1Q2008 don't need to feel disappointed, at least u will get ur yr end bonus & AWS before u collect keys. Oh my hubby and i went up to Blk80 to take a look at our blk today... didn't bring camera but i managed to take a few shots with my hp. Haven't been there for a long time, so quite excited to see the progress. Roads around 79A,B and D,E not done yet. MSCP looks ready for cars to park as lot markings are drawn already. Saw workers there today (Sunday). Blk 79C & roof garden on 8th Flr Between Blk79C & D Link from Blk79C to 79B with part of Blk 79A MSCP

My hubby and i can't wait to move in! Just like all of u, it's also financial tight for us...coz we're currently renting a flat so that's cash outflow every month already. So have to be prepared for our savings to be totally wiped out when the new flat comes. Fortunately for us, we already had our customary last Dec. so not that stressful for us now... Coz we only had a church wedding plus lunch reception and no banquet, so we managed to cover all our costs with the ang baos. Even covered the cost of our honeymoon...hehe... Whatever it is, u all must enjoy ur wedding preparations leh...it's quite fun (for me lah).. But that doesn't mean u have to spend alot on ur wedding.... coz i believe we shud spend more on the house rather than wedding. Wedding is only 1 day mah...and nobody will remember what happened that day also... Only u and ur husband will remember. Almonddust, Altho mine is only a church wedding plus lunch reception and no banquet, we started planning it 1 yr before. But in between, a few months u wun need to do much. only like nearing the AD then will get busy. So the impt things to do first is book venue and bridal package. The rest can do later. However, my friend planned her wedding in 3 months leh....she held her solemnisation plus banquet at the hotel. So it's not impossible also lah...just that u wun really enjoy the planning process.

Hi gui99, I think you should accede to ur gf's idea of attending a mpc..u know..to assure her lah. It's not very ex...u pay $200 upfront, then when u complete the course will full attendance, they will refund u $70. So effectively u pay $130, that's $65/person. I feel that it's a good investment. Marriage is for a lifetime leh...we spend thousands on our wedding (which lasts only 1 day), what is $130 as an investment for a lifetime marriage compared to what we spend for our wedding? It's not really like a seminar thing...cos it's held in the instructor's house..so it's a very comfortable course. For most parts of the course, we just sit down and listen to their teaching and sharing of their own marriage...then some parts will have discussion...to share each other's experience. I find learning from other ppl's experience very good. And also get to know more friends. The course only takes abt 6 couples each time. Here's more info: Organiser: Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and Touch Community Services (TCS) Duration: 5 consecutive Sundays, 3pm to 5.30pm Venue: Instructors' home Cost: $200 ($70 rebate will be given by MCYS upon full attendance) !!

Looks like many of my future neighbours here are getting married soon. Anyone interested in attending a Marriage Preparation Course (MPC)? I attended it last year and would say that it is definitely a very useful course. Realised that no matter how long a couple have dated/known each other, u'll not really know wat marriage is like. Or i should say marriage is very different from dating. Instructors are husband & wife team and the course is of course non-religious. Topics covered include marital commitment, personality differences, communication skills, mutual decision making, conflict management, finances, sex, family planning issues, roles and expectations. You can visit www.family.gov.sg/marriagepreparation for more information. As my friends are conducting the mpc which is organised by MCYS, you'll can pm me for more info if u're interested to attend. !!

Hi diva79, Can u pm me kelvin's contact too? Looks like he's going to be very busy with all of us calling him... Thanks!! -
Guess we are having the same dilemma - ID or contractor. Actually even with an ID, u need to go and choose the stuff also. The ID will bring you to their fixed supplier (probably one which they earn commission from) to choose the fittings. So my friend suggested that i source the stuff myself and get the ID to install it. Cheaper tat way...but i'm not sure if that'll work out for all IDs. Think the best way now is to visit a few IDs and a few contractors and then compare for yourself. See which one you are most comfortable with and quote most reasonable. Really hard to base our decision on other ppl's experience. My friend just engaged a contractor after visiting 10 contractors! Really pei fu her perseverance..but i guess that's the way to go considering we have a tight budget. I haven't visited any yet so i can't comment much also. Yah i saw some photos of a unit at Tanglin Halt...i personally don't like the design of the doors and the toilet tiles. Hope our toa payoh one will look better. oh btw we don't need to select toilet bowls..hehe...coz it's already in!

Great to see more new neighbours in this forum! Btw, i noticed many of u mention looking for ID. Is anyone going to consider contractors? Coz i also have a low budget of 20k and i also hope i can engage an ID at that budget. But I was thinking, if we're only doing basic/essentials stuff, do we need an ID? Mayb coz i have the impression tat ID are for those who want to do major renovations such as knocking/erecting walls & reconfiguring the layout. So i dun feel good paying an ID so much just to do very basic stuff like flooring, carpentry etc. But i've heard of ppl having problems handling contractors and also have to monitor them regularly, so to save all the trouble, prob better to engage an ID. Haven't really decided which to choose yet...so would like to hear any of ur views or anybody has prior experience with contractors/ID to share?

Hi kiwy! Nice to know another new neighbour! Yah you're right, the windows for the 38th flr is smaller. If u study the floor plans given to us when we were selecting our unit, they have designed the block such that the 2 common bedrooms have windows as follows: 2nd to 37th flr : 3/4 height windows 38th floor : standard height windows 39th to 40th flr : full height windows This only applies to the 4 bedrm units. strange huh...probably just to give the building some design. From what i know, reno packages still can be tailored to put in/remove items you don't require...I would think you can discuss/negotiate with the ID... So if u get reno packages, try to get them to cut down the price/ give u more things since ur area is smaller. !! Reasonable price? hmm...i've been thinking abt that too..but it really depends on the extent of your renovations.

Received it! Thanks!

Thanks mapleleaf for the beautiful pics!! These pics just makes me more excited abt our new home! Carelinwen: I didn't receive the updated list....

Can pm me ur ID contact as well? Thx! But do we need to engage ID so early? I was down at the Home Exhibition at Expo over the weekend and one of the ID i spoke to already has a couple of owners from Blk 79 signed up with them! And they have already done their drawings. Btw wat's a realistic reno budget for a 90sqm 4-rm? I was thinking of setting it at 15K but when i saw the packages at the exhibition, looks like it's not enough. Think need at least 20K?

Thanks for adding me to the list! Good news for me to hear that HDB will release block by block... Coz me currently renting a flat. Got married last Dec. So looks like most of us here are newly-weds/ newly-wed to be moving into the Blk 79 neighbourhood. That's great to know that I'm going to have young neighbours....hehe....
