  1. I got mine from Robinson's Plain colors with crystal - $99 Silvery threads on solid colors with crystal and beads - $129.
  2. I made a WIW, but I added doors for the wardrobe as well. Didn't want it to be open shelves, else will get quite dusty.
  3. I want to buy that Philips battery operated motion sensor LED light! Was tempted by the flickering candles as well, but .. waste money.
  4. RH 90CD Hood - $615 RB-333 Hob $290
  5. I used to think the step was knocked off and flatten ... But it seems like you are right, the bathroom floor is higher than the kitchen floor, they levelled it up to match the step. I'm not sure if you need an approval for that, but it will all be handled by your ID.
  6. I paid them a visit, was turned off by the no discount even if you get whole set haughty attitude. Walked further down towards Poh Joo & Chuan Heng for Rinnai instead.
  7. Let's see, the ID chose which shop to bring you to? They probably had the mark up arrangement long ago, I bring clients to you, while I get commission when you charge $200 instead of $150 that sort of thing. When you signed the contract, was there an estimated completion date? Doesn't matter that you are not in a rush to move in, but they should give a reasonable date like 2 months plus minus a week or two for rectification. They can keep dragging it just because you are not in a rush to move in.
  8. Ermmmm, you let your ID buy the lights and toilet bowls/basins/accessories on your behalf? Some ID like to bulls ... Why would 2 identitical item, one more expensive, one cheaper and the reason is quality? Shouldn't it be THEIR commission that caused the diff? But that's understandable Nobody would be doing that for free, running around and shopping on your behalf, you know what I mean? I bought my own light, toilet bowls, sinks, basins, bargain till face red. Then still have to confirm with my ID on installation charges, lucky she didn't pull a fast one on that. I compared her quotes to the quotes I got from the shop where I got the stuff from. If my ID's more expensive, either negotiate for a lower price, or drop them and get your own.
  9. 5 out of 5 of my IDs told me that. If Parquet, need to hack existing tiles then cement screed before installing parquet 2 out of 5 said .. For laminated flooring, also need to hack, if not old tiles will pop up. I dropped those 2. I don't see why the tiles will pop up now when it's been ok for the past 10 years. While on that, I'm now not too sure about Parquet since you done it without hacking ..
  10. Not surprising, I had a $35k, ended up $39k .. Add another foot here, another inch there to carpentry, and suddenly it went up by a few thousands. And what's worse, the design went out of shape because the propotions were wrong!!
  11. They have a thread buried somewhere here. http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?sh...ic=2146&hl=
  12. Laminated flooring, optional to hack the existing tiles. Parquet, you need to hack ... else how to do to cement screed below.
  13. Thought of this idea in the past, but the dangling wires .... And the need for a socket.
  14. I didn't even get a reply from them after wasting 1hr talking about them about my floorplan, called up once to enquire, they don't really to call back either. Maybe they are not interested in $40k to $50k business?
  15. Why would the fumes from the floor chemical wash reach the hob??
  16. The gym at IBP used to be called Fitness PLUS .... I loved that gym back then when I used to work in the west, comes with a pool, outdoor jacuzzi and sauna still?
  17. My flush wasn't that strong earlier also, there was a leakage somewhere at the same time, so the plumbler came down and repair the leak. He adjusted something in the cistern, now it's better.
  18. Is that ID/contractor the appointed one? If yes, there's no problem getting them to inspect for you, they can access the place and see what needs to be done at what cost at the same time.
  19. How come you still insisted on getting this house despite all these? If the owner can even owe S&C, something must be terribly wrong.. Back then, you could have "cut loss" rather than complete the sale, staying in an O$P$ house can be quite taxing, esp when our local police are quite helpless in such cases. I made a point to find out where my previous owner was working at and I even asked some of the neighbours to find out if there are O$P$ issues in the block, when I was getting my house...
  20. I already threw in a lot for the renovation. Still turned out not quite to my satisfaction, mediocre worksmanship aside, it's hardly even "designer" standard .. Quite sick over the whole thing. -_- I wasn't even told about the options to hide the pipes or to hide the wire trunkings behind the walls.. Sounds like an expensive project. Screw HDB, they have a lot of stupid restrictions which I find **** irritating. I wanted the exhaust fan, but ID said HDB said cannot. I wanted a socket inside, ID said toilet wet area, no electricity, HDB regulation!! If I had that, I could at least plug in my Ambi pur airfresher! I should have blogged some of the nonsense encountered during my entire renovation and seek some advice from you guys back then.. *sigh* .. Too late.
  21. You are keeping the existing wall tiles in your kitchen and 2 toilets? Isf not, the hacking and installation of wall tiles in these 2 areas are not in your quote. And also how many rooms is this? Painting is under one cost usually, how come he break into 2 and combine them for a bigger amount? You might as well get Nippon Paint to do it. For that price, you can get Odourless range ($60 per can) For carpentry, what does all that Max. XXXXmm L mean?? If it's smaller, do you get discount? If it's bigger, how is the extras calculated? I can't really comment on the price for some of the proposed carpentry, not sure what's the design like to warrant that amount, like a storage head board display cabinet ($1680??) or the vanity cabinet with mirror ($1200??)
  22. I hate it too .. Spent so much on toilets, everything nicely designed and done up until almost like hotel standard... Then all the exposed pipes leading to the taps... argh..
  23. Chunky, yes, that's how the stainless steel support look like, it's actually quite ugly... It's actually the skill of the people who put up the glass that's bad. First time when it was nicely done up, it was fine, doesn't really shake, when they replaced it with a slightly smaller piece to rectify the problem (protruding out of shower kerb) The whole thing was shaking like mad. Why did they managed to do it nice the first time round and now like that? Gave me tons of excuses like it's industry standard, every household also like that and no one makes noise about it. Yeah Industry BAD standard more like it. Let's hope that people doing frameless shower screen will get to read this thread, either they reconsider that design, or they ensure those clowns do a good job. $500 just for that shower screen and it's not properly done is just nonsense.
  24. Mace, how did you managed to install the exhaust fan in your toilet? I wanted that last time, but my ID said it will be rejected by HDB. I liked your DIY fountain, is it difficult to add in the mist maker?
