  1. After 28 days of renovation... (exclude 2 weeks CNY hoilday) The slanted wall is hacked! View from common toilet. New hollow block wall is built. View from master toilet. A mock-up of the glass railing. Notice the amount of hollow blocks required to construct back the wall. Only one tiler is doing the job, so he has to carry the hollow block to 2nd floor toilet. View from 2nd level. Another view. Tiler will create the groove on the floor for the U channel to sit in and wall for extra support..
  2. Mitsubishi electric. Hong Tar provide free sizing, 11940 BTU for master & 8530 BTU common, which Mitsubishi heavy industries cannot support. Hong Tar will be installing this week. Will update on the workmanship. Yes, we are only using system 3 for our 3 bedrooms. Level one no aircon.
  3. Hi May_dream1, spikedoll and potatoes, gong xi fa cai! Worker since 05/02/13 收工 till yesterday leh. ID told me today tiler start work le.. Hmm.. Maybe today is 吉日 to hack the toilet wall ba.. Will post more photos and updates. Btw, we engage Hong Tar to install the aircon. We use Mitsubishi M/N: MXY3A28VA/MSYGE10VA x 2/MSYGE13 c/w stainless steel bracket @ $3150. Hong Tar supply and install the airconditioners with G23 copper pipe not exceed 15m per fan coil unit, upgrade to ½ thick Class O thermaflex for indoor gas pipe unit and Class 1 black rubber insuflex for outdoor gas pipe unit, Singapore Keystone cable, 16mm pvc pipe and pvc trunking. Though the price is not he cheapest, but the review of their workmanship is good. 一分钱一分货
  4. Hi summersann, Happy Lunar New Year! Huat ah! Wow! Your house is beautiful! Now u can slowly decorate your place le.. Agreed! No renovation is 100% perfect.. As long your ID must rectify the outstanding before handover them the final payment.
  5. After sharing the phenomenon, here are some photo to share... After 27 days of renovation... Photo of the 1st level toilet. Will be doing glass sliding door instead of swing door so that can have more space inside the tiny toilet. We also request to built a tile shelve for the toiletries. Notice there is a gradient washing machine base? ID request to do another base for the pipe (will be doing a boxed-up). So that can open the door easily and prevent the box-up door to get wet easily as the washing machining drain point is just near by. Stairway... Aiyo, tiny area for the vanity at common toilet. Gradient for common toilet shower area...
  6. Murphy's Law (Anything that can go wrong will go wrong) Sigh.. human really cannot praise early lor.. New erected wall at the entrance of common toilet was not perpendicular to the entrance of the door. Above photo was not that obvious before the wall tiles are fully up. Notice the different now? I used my slipper as a reference guide. Photo was taken from inside. (1st tile from entrance) Distance from the wall to the edge of the tile, 325mm. (3rd tile from entrance) Distance from the wall to the edge of the tile, 365mm. 40mm difference! The wall have also affect my vanity at master toilet (back to back, both toilet share the same wall)... Meet ID today on site to discuss this PHENOMENON... Was shock that tiler didn't notice it at all! ID stand outside the common toilet and looked at the floor, only thing he tell me... He will get it rectify! Swee! This is what I want to hear.. When things are not right, just solve the problem! No point cover here cover there or try to smoke us... Lesson learnt... When there is an erection of wall, DON'T ASSUME! See for yourself. The earlier u notice, the faster to rectify...
  7. Completion today? Remember to post some photo of your house before renovation, ok?
  8. Thanx benauhc. Will discuss with ID any possible solution to do a dressing table (out the left entrance of the toilet) and not blocking the way.. hi, learnt a lot from your reno process.thanks! Do you think the 90cm wood tiles at the balcony will look even better if it's laid adjacent to the balcony windows instead of pendicular? Reason I suggest this is because of the short length of the balcony (approx 2m) due to the short lenght of the area, the beauty of the 90cm tiles is not fully displayed because you can only lay 2 to 3 tiles pendicularly. not sure whether you get what i mean. Thanx texas5. Glad that u have learnt from my reno progress. We share experience and information here.. Tiler did place the tiles parallel to the windows, visually looks wider but narrower wor. So ID suggested to place it perpendicular.. By the way, u are doing your renovation now?
  9. Natural light brighen up the stairway. Looking forward to more photo of the transformation..
  10. Thanx jsll & spikedoll. After 25 days of renovation... Our small utility room. About 4.7 sqm nia... space just enough for a super single bed and a small wardrobe. Will leave it empty and will be maid's room if needed in future. Seatee in our master toilet. For my wifey to sit and do her body scrub.. Shelving at common toilet. Hmm... abit small.. Love the marble effect tiles The only negative part is the small vanity beside the WC (not in this picture). 4" U channel is embedded into the cement with steel wire to hold the wall well. 12mm laminated tempered glass will sit into the U channel. I super kiasu, even request to dig a groove on the wall and floor (to insert U channel) at the 2nd level for better secure of the laminated glass. We will change the opening direction of the main door. Wanted to do a dressing table (just outside the toilet), hmm... the depth space looks a bit too small to do dressing table leh.. Any smart ideas to share? Thanx in advance..
  11. Hi summersann, thanx for the photo. Your house is almost complete, when u plan to official move-in to your new place?
  12. After 22 days of renovation... If u look carefully, can see the plastic piece embedded in the cement screed.. There's also a small drop (about one tile thickness) between living hall and kitchen. Utility room is up. We will be doing pebble wash at the entrance area. ID told me that HE WILL BE DOING it by himself wor... Well.. Let's see how's his worksmanship then.. Balcony with 15x90 tiles. ID request tiler to leave small gap between the vertical tiles so that it looks more real. We will not be plastering brick wall but to paint it white. Common toilet flooring is done. U channel will be embedded into the cement wall to support the laminated glass railing.
  13. Ok. Let me try convince my wifey on the Nespresso U..
  14. Hi spikedoll, 5 more days to your completion. Excited? Wish u a smooth renovation.
  15. Hi Berlinbear, congrats to your purchase of EM. Wish u a smooth renovation journey.
  16. Hi summersann, remember to take more photo tomorrow. By the way, how much u intend to let go for the Nespresso U?
  17. After 20 days of renovation... Floor tiles for level one toilet. Since it is small area, we do a step with small gradient at the shower area. Water can easily flow to the floor trap. Decide to use stainless steel floor trap, since there isn't extra charge and easy to open. The plastic piece is embedded into the cement to prevent the edge from easy chip off. Hollow block wall and cabinet base are up. Notice the base is slightly shorter than the hollow block wall? Again, ID request tiler to do so, say the finishing is nicer this way. Notice that the tiler is very detail with his work. Even the hole for the water to drain, internal wall (such a small area) also cover with tiles. The tiler also do a cover (both side are tiles, at the left side of the photo) for the drain hole. Really appreciate his hard work.
  18. There will be a drop (about one tile thickness) between living hall and kitchen. Our renovation is schedule to complete end Mar or early Apr. All cement screed to complete by 08/02/13 and leave it to dry fully during the CNY period. I am very particular on the 收口.. Glad that my ID is also very detail in my renovation work. Tilers are also very skilful, I will also buy drinks for them on every visit.. Yes, will boxed up the pipings in all three toilets. Enjoy your renovation journey. I am camping at your T-blog for more photo.
  19. 1st level toilet indeed small. But we still can have toilet bowl, basin and shower area inside the small space.
  20. After 19 days of renovation... Master toilet. Can u notice the difference in the black tiles (third tiles from the top)? The tiles are cut slightly shorter to achieve a 漂亮收口. Tiler is very detail on those 收口. ID specially request tiler to shift the shelve in by 10mm to look nicer. Tiler will need to cut a small piece of tile to patch up the small gap. Living hall tiles (marble effect) are up. There will be a step separate living and kitchen. Why the tiles do half way? It is the gap for the sliding door to flush with kitchen wall. Sorry if I sound confuse to u. Will post more clearer photo when the tile is complete.
  21. Thanx Bro Batman. For downlight, most likely will get from Taobao.
  22. Don't say steal lah.. we share ideas.. Sure, will post more photos later in my T-blog.
  23. Hi summersann, very spacious and nice kitchen. By the way, can share where is the sliding track for the shelving under the staircase? Is the sliding shelve soft closing? Is the shelve heavy to open?
  24. Hi normanho23, don't mind can PM me the price and address where u bought this? Many thanx.
