Ya these are the led tubes..not t5. Go to New Tai Wah at veerasamy rd for it if you want.. $48 per pc(4ft length) phillips brand direct drive. There are cheaper taiwan/china brand available but not sure bout the price..lprob looking at abt 30plus. For those pple interested in going LEDs, do understand that its a long term investment since you paid much more upfront and save via monthly bills so don't expect to have like a 70% cut on your bills...it sounds too good to be true this way. Also, you are indirectly contributing to the world ..by going green..so if you expect instant savings than leds are not for you. I have leds in my entire house except for 2 locations...my entrance and kitchen. I bought some led downlights for this 2 locations but somehow it just dun justify...not bright enough and entrance being wayyyy too bright. My led downlight for entrance needs to be a 6 incher at least due to fs and the ratings for the led will be 12-15w...i get myself a normal plc and at 13w i see practicality here. For kitchen,in order to be bright enough,i need like 4-5 15w led downlight...i am having 3x 18w and its bright enough...the small differnce between led and plc ...i dun see it justify for leds to be in there. Other than that,my living room cove lighting is working on 6leds on both side when i switch on,12tubes on full 4sides. Having 16wx4(4ft) and 9wx2(3ft) for opposite facing direction is way bright enough for the living and beats having the conventional fluroscent at 36wx4 and 28wx2 when i switch on...this is justifiable for leds. Seen quite a few debates in different forums if led can justify anot... After my experience with leds, the tube version is bright enough for daily chores/living but as for downlights(like halogen type),it will only be good for ambience and/or lighting to focus on say ..a painting or photo..its way too dim to light up say..living room. Do check out places with fitted leds and experience it for yourself if led suits your lifestyle. What you like may not be what is practical and also,it may not save you money. Just my 0.00002 cents ....i am not any professinal or expert in this field but since my house now is like 90% led-ed,i thought i might wnt to share something.

Reno getting delayed here and there as usual. Workers are....$@&,??-(;(%#*€ ! Carpentry are going up now and wrong measurements here and there..nothing surprising. Example.... Notice anything wrong with it? I see liao straight ask the worker...where to install my tap? Than came the best and most classic answer..."boss never instruct..i dunno" Cool right?! Haha The kitchen and bathrooms carpentry skeleton are up aleady but quite a number of modification need to be done... Stove and sink area on this L shaped Tall unit as my storage with DB box hidden inside Wider view

I think its closer than this but i may be wrong coz of photo effect.. But its definitely too close for comfort..to me lah and yes i will nbr pay for this view loh...

Swee right? We were so into this until the sales person at econflo went into details on the piping blah blah blah and we went...forget it. I dun wanna spend money twice! But this one maintanance is sooooo much easier.
-
Ok my bad...its by Geberit.. Called Geberit Monolith Initially wanted to use this but due to my piping issue i cant so went the troublesome way of concealed. Check it out. Priced about 1k thereabout. Sightly cheaper than concealed since you dun erect an additional wall.
-
Get your contractor to submit the dawing and new pipe layout to hdb for approval, thats the best. There are really a lot of pple doing it and for my case,my hdb technical officer was present for this concealed wall erecting process so ....and just my opinion, not everything needs hdb approval one... Hoe kee? I have never a good impression of them. Went to the the genting lane branch and the prc sales lady have got no knowledge on what she is selling, give a f up face. Went to imm branch some time later and also same thing..just that i already know what i want and i just went straight into details. If you dun intend to spend too much on the wall hung toilet bowl like the duravit one,go universal union and ask for emily to see the maclaire toilet bowl.($280 if i remember correctly) and the geberit flushing system probably you can pop by to econflo or universal also have,a bit higher priced though. Alternatively,go econflo and get the one set system by duravit..i cant remember the series offhand..lemme find the pics and update u

Seriously ...colour selection is the most tedious thing of the reno..in my context lah and pretty subjective also.. Have since changed colours of my room like..4times? Hmm lesson learnt..never trust catalogue colour...its wayyy darker in actual. Tamade! And another surprise..didnt expect craftstone to cost so much for my balcony wall..tks to hdb 70s quality for the uneven walls that i need to do this craftstone to cover up the flaw. And as for consolation for the day, acid wash plus carpentry happening next monday! No pics so far coz whole flat still filled with rubbish.. Upcoming photos shd come with a lot more interesting progress.
-
Yes i agree...the contractors got no confidence to do or just plain lazy..haha When my contractor was building this system, the hdb technical officer was here to check it out and he told us to do the waterproofing well.
-
Haha they tried their best by eating the measurement here and there a bit but as the slantness is really too much, they cant overdo it..if they do,you compare to another angle like say the window frame..its gonna be even worst. So,L box and partition here and there to even out as much as possible.
-
Ok and to show the degree of slantness in the flat, here goes...see if you guys can spot it. the beams... The ceiling Beam again.. And somehow my partition just made the uneveness more pronounced...
-
U staying at the same estate? The flushing system looks complicated but in actual fact,it works the same as a normal one piece cistern. If the flushing is problematic, its the pump inside and is easily replaceable..but of course using the same brand parts unlike normal wc where its a more or less universal type.
-
Heyas...sorry guys for the lost of update... Literally puked blood everyday. I seriously can't stand some worker's mentality and their working attitude so was like too fed up to update! Imagine the workers spittting everywhere inside your house....in front of you and yet telling you.."house still so dirty and still under reno mah so kan cheong for what" ...like wtf loh?! Another issue...this old point block...i really dunno how the QC was done like 30 over years back! The beams are slant, the walls are slant, the ceiling slant...nothing is straight...and it varies like up to 4inch that much....yes u heard me right..4inch! Just because of a few inches flaw,i need to do either L-box or false wall to cover up. Waste money waste time and most importantly..waste my space! Anyway, its on the false wall/ceilingt,concealing of wire part now and painting next week...i hope carpentry will start coming in next week as well. Nothing went right for the pass two weeks literally. Targeted move in on the first week of nov...i am having slim hope now man. Will upload some pics soon....i hope! Haha
-
And finally...gotten some photos online and inspired by them so will be doing something similiar Living room tv wall Mbr Of course this is just inspirational photos and am still trying to balance practicality and asthetic..hmm tough choice

Common bathroom tiling done Common bathroom water cistern done Water cistern concealed

Ok...eons since i last updated this thread...been extremely busy with work and of course the coordinating works for the contractor. Several hiccups came up,some solved but need to live with some....one thing i cant stand about old houses are, walls and beams are curvier than marilyn monroe...what were the architect and workers of the 70s thinking?! Just because of a 10mm slanted wall,i need to put up a falso wall to flush it out..waste space waste money... And to compensate for the slated walls,my tiles are out of shape, one side smaller than the other end. Another thing is,for forummers that are changing their floor tiles, please do highlight to your ID and/or contractors to tally the tile joint line as much as possible. For example, kitchen floor tiles linking to living room floor tiles...now i have a mrt map on my floor which....i really cant stand it!! Anyway, major works like floor tiles are done, parquet in rooms halfway done, water pipes concealed already. Next up will be concealed wires for my electrical points. Talk about this electrical point, first quote i gotten was...7.7k ! Almost fell of my chair when i saw the sms..wtf ?! Ok as according to this hero,i have 80 lighting point and he calculated based on every single point. Erm...i seriously dun look anything like a carrot loh ..so i called up one of my electricians whom i use for my client's house matter and got him to quote. Came up with a 3.8k lump sum for the same thing with 50% wires concealed. Ok enough of words...some photos as per now Than pipings concealed.

Yeah heard about the Space sale..may take a look these couple of days but i try to use back some of my furnitures to save a little..i got some amateur hand sketch drawing for my contractor but its just some draft ...one thing for sure is i will not have any ceilig lights..i try! Haha looking to follow the 5rm unit in your blog which have got cove lights all around..this cove light go easier on eyes rather than having a light coming down direct..will try to put up some sketches soon.
-
I am being very excited since i made a deposit for my 4 haiku fans which i will pick it up in october! Its cool looking its sleek its got good ventilating effect and most importantly,it saves energy which goes easy on electrical bill. Its almost the first thing we bought literally....! Now next, another thing that i am anticipating its arrival.... My 3.2m L shaped sofa.... Love its length.. Ok thats about all... Tiles will be confirmed tomorrow and of course...final design as well.
-
Pm replied! Yes the exec apt that was sold for a million...we saw it and literally stayed in there for like just...5mins? Ok its a renovated unit its hugeeeee its got 4bedder but...the view totally turned us off. From the living hall its like saying hi and bye to your neighbour opposite everyday loh.. No like for this. The em above u sold for 110k cov is wayyyy better deal than that ea in my opinion. Nowadays in queenstown estate cov over a hundred thousand seems normal...my block, there is this unit sold for 135k ...and its on a low floor. Thank goodness i am on the top few level..though my cov was also a six fig thing. Now my unit seems cheaper! Haha ok this is self consoling.
-
Well, we are having the resort beige theme for the common and thinking of dark grey for the mbr but of course need to double confirm with fs master on the colour scheme again. But beige does look classy. Yes you are right...i almost got the em unit above you previously ...remember i actually pm-ed you on how your area feel? Haha Anyway i still love the size of the em and the potential of reno but due to some advice,we have to forgo it...anyway,our offer was outbidded as well so i say fate loh.. Actually holland v is still one of our top choice given the location and neighbourhood.
