  1. Thanks a lot for your words of encrouagement Mandj. Like previously shared, the reno set the right backdrop, but the props entering the scene can make or break the look... I'm not as talented as many forumers here who can deco their house so well. i had to look through many pics, look for inspiratation and literally had sleepless nights thinking of how to decorate the space (my hubby thinks i'm nuts) Worst is my hubby is always not around, he left the entire deco part to me...i have no one to discuss too except for Jiawei, who has to take all my non stop questions. I feel paisei bothering Jiawei too much with trivial questions. Yes i am very stress cos like what u say i try so so hard to create what i like from the webpages. The style is so hard to achieve. The scandinavians did it so effortlessly. I've seen local spaces trying to do up the scandinavian concept, it does look pretentious, which is what i do not want. I want people to walk into the space and feel that i've done it up effortlessly... sorry for my rants. Meantime i'm going to put up some prints that i got from this website.. i do not know if it is scandinavian enough?
  2. U r right on the subconscious mind!!! Somehow I feel the Reno set the right backdrop. But the furnishing, deco and finishing touches will give the feel of the house. Scandi style is really more on clean lines, and graphical prints I guess, they are also good at doing the colors. I see many pictures from various websites i thunk i have personal preference. Like shared previously, my hubby's style and my style is quite different. If given a choice, I would love to go to all the shops adidaem recommended, sadly...very sadly... My hubby chose scanteak (all scanteak w/o even looking at air or balcony etc) somehow have to try and make it work. There are some elements of Scandi design I would love to I corporate but again...hubby has strong views and hard for me to push the ideas... Like the floor lamp...I love having one, but he doesn't... The whole dressing up the house part is really stressing me to the max...
  3. Thanks. Well I tot scandi style is nice from the pics I see. So I do hope to achieve like something like wat I see on the websites. My hubby do not like retro scandi or quirky scandi style... So I'm trying hard to something pleasing to the eyes. Hmmm I dunno wat my natural preference, mayb u can enlighten me? Thanks.
  4. "it’s sometimes wise to take things slowly, adding elements to our homes over time, rather than all at once. This process insures you make far fewer decorating faux pas, and get it just right, rather than wasting your budget with snap decisions. It can also be much more gratifying and fun to go slowly as you decorate, revising plans and tweaking your ideas as your awareness for your design aesthetic becomes more clear. you kind of grow into your space, or maybe you even move into your first owned-home and the design process can often be as fun as the outcome!"(Taken from www.sfgirlbybay.com) i totally agree... but i'm so so so impatient...haizzz
  5. Yes etsy is very addictive!! The items there are so lovely! I love the bold and noble world map picture. Thanks for the tip. I'm so conservative on the pictures on the wall as I'm so afraid of making mistakes and wasting money. I saw some wire pieces in the pic , looks nice! I agree! How much is the joker print that u bought?
  6. Nice!! I looking for such pictures! I wanted to get from ikea but hubby say ppl can tell its from ikea Decorating is though... Now I looking for a desk lamp for my sqtudy room. I saw on your blog that u have a baby arco lamp. Is it from space or marquis? I was thinking of getting a muuto lamp for the study table but hubby dun seem to like it Is it not nice?
  7. Hmmm i think it would look better with a green plant...you might want to consider putting some photos? Or some frame pictures? Or perhaps having decorations which reflects more of your personality? Alternatively you can find some unique desk clock and a nice calendar...as it serves some purpose... Thanks for the tip. I intend to try putting a tree branch in a white pr glass bottle vase or some personal stuff to add the nature or human touch... I'll upload some pics once I'm done. When I look at the pic, I feel somehow, something missing... Like very empty and cold...
  8. Hi the mini ginkgo tree is from ikea. I took of off from the display at Alexandra showroom, when I went to the plant section, I could not find it. It was crowded and the place was messy, try going on less crowded timing and see if they still have it or not. As for the squirrel, u can get it from franc franc or wonderland at haji lane. Wonderland has more variety and their stuff there are very nice. Thanks a lot. but I'm rather lost in the study room deco... I was thinking of putting a white/glass bottle vase with a brown branch at the empty space of the lower shelf (btwn the book and cage) what do u think?
  9. For the living room we chose sheer white curtains. I love it when the wind blows and the light curtains just flies, the curtains are pushed to one side as I dun like curtains flying to my face when I sit at the sofa Another view
  10. I shifted all the 'green' stuff to guest room, including the green leaf cushion. The lovely curtains are done by Jiawei's mother I like the color of the curtains. It''s a warm white color, most importantly, it is easy maintainence. The workmanship is good The green squirrel and the mini ginkgo tree with some small plants... I will b adding in a mini terrarium fish bowl in this room.
  11. Took a pic of the study room, Intially I wanted a mix of green and neutrals. after some rearranging, i took out all the greens and the room became very neutral/sand color. (solid top will be light beige in color, there is no solid top on yet) The shelf. I'm afraid of adding in other color that will disrupt the 'peace' of the color palette here. The shelf. I added a vase, but I think it does not serve is function... I found 2 small vases with geometrical details from franc franc, I am so so tempted to buy... Should I buy? Is this decoration too little or too much?
  12. Hi please send me the link, i tried looking for it, it seems that all the photos are not appearing. I wonder if i got the wrong link. Thanks a lot.
  13. Something like that? I intend to print some of this from offce...super pirated...
  14. Thanks a lot for the encouragement. My dad and almost everyone at home is against the dining table. As for Jiawei, he is neutral about it, and say the fake eames chair will help.. I'm so glad i'll be bringing her along and match it with fake eames chairs. I will only migrate 2 windsor chair over. You can find this dining table at Franc Franc. Its in their new Cruise collection. Or u can find the all white version at Furniture mall in a shop call "Country home" i think I'll try to print some typographs and decorate it. I like using washi tapes , but i think my hubby will hate it. He prefers it blank or putting a piece he got from overseas (mostly asia countries) from the color scheme that the living room has, the teak wood finish is making it lean more towards those resort feel i think. Then if put the wrong painting, e.g. oil paintinf of coconut trees and boats.. wah the feeling totally weird liao... suggestions?
  15. I'm trying so hard to control...everytime i see something nice, i wanted to buy it so much but i afraid that i do not know where to put it in the house. I need to do carefully think twice. Thanks for the tip, i'll take note on the blackboard. My dad wanted me to put paintings on the wall, i really dunno what paintings to put. I'm very bad at accessorising, i'm afraid of putting things that create a resort like look. Already now, i am at lost at creating the feel, the house looks like some "resort" or "scanteak" shop??...anymore tips?
  16. The rubbish chute cabinet, the laminate looks like the one used by developer, perfect match, hard to tell the difference. It's a neater continuation. I was thinking of using white, but hubby wanted the wood laminate
  17. More photos, I added a mustard yellow stripped cushion I've trim down the deco part, I worry that I over accessorise, hence there will b no more additional items out on display except for a tv that will be mounted on the wall and a piano. Close up on the lourve arm chair, it also doubles up as an outdoor furniture. The tv console, no tv feature wall, the tv will b wall mounted Please give your honest opinion, I dunno if it's over or under accessorise. Should I cut down, add more accessories? Please give me your comments
  18. Thanks, i feel quite stressed up actually. sweat... sweat.. I admire how some people can do it so effortlessly Cos i worry i put too much things. I will put more pics this afternoon. Most likely will trim down the accessories. Will try and exchange the items for some other things. Luckily Ikea has exchange policy and i have not removed any labels.
  19. Yeah! U r spot on mr merry! I feel pressured on the over accessorized part. Some items r from ikea n I am gg to exchange it for some kitchen organizing compartments or bedsheets instead. I feel I buy too much things. Constantly reflecting....
  20. Hi, referring to one of the pic, do u all think the 2 side tables is not appropriate? Does it eats up the space? Should I shift it somewhere, like I to bedroom as side table? Please
  21. Hi his capentery team is good, workmanship is good, with neat abs trimmings. My dad who is picky, is pleased with all the work, for my tracks in drawers, jiawei uses excel tracks. The tiler that did my house was a chinaman, didn't talk to him much, but he is ok, workmianship is nice, plus he is diligent and doesn't really laze around. The painter Muthu is good, very meticulous in his job. As for curtain tracks, jiawei did it for us and his mum sewed our curtains. We're still not done yet, i am still worried with the outcome. Sometimes its tough to create the feel, any wrong item added (eg cushions or chairs) can spoil the efforts.... Sweat...
  22. Hi we got it at one of the neighborhood furniture shop at jurong. Forget the name of the shop, it sells various rattan items. Snoop around neighborhood furniture shop, they do carry this
