  1. We installed a panel of windows in that room, so we didn't want our bedroom to be there for multiple reasons (privacy, wanted the study/lounge to be brighter and airy, having the bedroom and wardrobe together, more space for the study/lounge). anyway, the door to our room is actually considered kinda in the middle of both rooms because we relocated the door, so there's a small "entrance" area before it's our bed. And the beauty of maisonettes is that the 2nd floor is already pretty private anyway!
  2. Thank you! I can't wait to unwrap stuff and start arranging them either Yup, the track lights are LED. The depth of the storage under the stairs... eh... we don't actually know, but they're almost (if not completely) the depth of the stairs itself to maximize storage. Hope that helps! Got our lights from i-Lite (Jalan Besar). Not sure if they offer the best deals around because we didn't research on lights and just followed the ID. The tracks are $25 for 2 meter, and $40 for 3 meter. The light holders+LED lights are $85 each.
  3. With my limited knowledge (hahaha), both stand alone and built in ovens are no different, except one is built in to fit the space. But that's provided you compare the same ovens. I assume you're not talking about actual stand alone ovens, but the usual work top ovens that you find in the market. The usual work top ovens that are sold in the local market are actually microwave ovens, which don't bake as well as typical convection ovens. I find that microwave ovens make my pies and cookies more moist and less crunchy. Maybe that's just me haha
  4. Don't bother spraying the accordion arm anyway. The paint will just scratch off over time anyway because of the pulling in and out. Nice lamp!
  5. Nice lamp! All the best with the renovation process (you haven't started right? I'm getting so confused with the threads )!
  6. I prefer peranakan tiles that have one uniform print, but I guess the patchwork tile still trumps the other two!
  7. I got these stools a long time ago before this sale! Dang. Thank goodness the uncle gave us some sort of discount the other time. Looks like we're all going to have the same stools!
  8. A big thank you to all who shared their comments and suggestions about the lights! Our imaginations must have been warped, because when we went back to the place last night and took another look at the lights, it was perfectly acceptable to us (the orange hue that we thought was there wasn't ) So we're sticking with warm white because it's perfect Some of what we've pointed out for rectification have been fixed, but there's quite a few left that needs to be rectified before the official handover. The workmanship has been shoddy, but at least the IDs were active in pointing out what needs to be done (some of the areas to be rectified were highlighted by my ID because we didn't even see it ourselves ). As much as we would have liked perfect workmanship instead of having to patch things up after, at least the IDs are willing to rectify things to our liking. They also absorbed some of the additional charges (we shouldn't be paying for their workers' oversight anyway). Work in progress. Expected handover 4 March!
  9. Nice chair! Super happy colors From what I know, most cloth places do upholstery, so u can find a place that's cheaper to do the reholster work or make new cushions/covers for you. Loving the peranakan tiles!
  10. Thank goodness then! hope everything else goes smoothly! More pictures!
  11. Oh dear. Thank goodness you spotted it before they happily installed the fan!
  12. Don't worry, it wasn't your fault! I read about daylight, cool white and warm white. Daylight is the one that's supposedly the whitest. I agree with you that white lights in the kitchen helps to keep it well-lit and bright for practical purposes. I just don't know if I want my house to be that tone though. Haha yeah it's too late for that now. But a good suggestion nonetheless! Anyone going into their renovations should consider this if you want to have both cosy and practical lights! Thank you gabbyseed! It's good to hear from someone who is into photography too, because that's one of my main concerns - that colors won't be represented well under the orange hue of warm white. Still deciding hard! Thank you everyone for giving your opinions and suggestions!!
  13. Someone mentioned this before, but I didn't realize what he/she meant until now. The temperature of the lights in our place don't look the same in pictures. It's probably the angle and white balance of the camera, but it results in two different temperatures when different angles are picked. But anyway, this fluke has proved handy, since we're now having a slight dilemma. Daylight. Warm white (this is the actual temperature of our lights). We don't like daylight because it's too white and gives the place a very... sterile, NTUC (or other public places) feel. Not the cosy, home feeling we want. But, there seems to be a little too much orange coming from the warm white. We're told there's only two types of temperature to choose from. I've read about cool daylight (which is apparently between daylight and warm white), but also read that not a lot of places carry that tone. What do you think?
  14. Original price: $155.10. We got a 15% discount when we got it
  15. Wah, cheem. Okay, I don't know enough about lights to go into the details. I only know the aesthetics, hahaha!
  16. If your usage of those lights is going to be heavy, LED's the way to go I guess. That's what we used to decide where to use LED and where to just use normal bulbs. Again, you know me and my love for the floral pendants, so if you do use them, TAKE PICTURES
  17. Hahaha wah, no la. Not magazine cover worthy. Maybe my own publication But thank you for liking it!
  18. Read about these cleaner robots and was very intrigued as well! Unfortunately, most reviews on these robots say that they don't handle animal fur well. According to reviews, animal fur clogs up its system fast and the power wears out faster in a house with animal fur.
  19. Haha wah your workers are back! Congrats Happy reno!
  20. Flower pendant lights from Wonderland to line the walkway. SUPER PRETTY
  21. Oh but the retractable gate needs to extend and hook onto a latch on the opposite side, so u'll have to find a way to attach that latch on your glass railing :X
  22. Zomg I'm getting confused myself (for a moment I thought I was commenting on your t-blog, but then I saw your post in your actual t-blog and I was like, "Why is bleucheeze posting for suggestions on Makanology's t-blog?" HAHAHA ). I meant DC24, not 29! Oops Just check if the DC24 runs on rechargeable batteries. We researched and the findings were to stay away from those (unless you plan to use the rechargeable vacuum for area cleaning, not heavy-duty-whole-house-cleaning). Again, test the models suitable for homes with pets, then test one that's almost similar in specs but not listed as suitable for pets. The price difference is often quite big, but the power is actually about the same. That's why we got the DC29 in the end, heh
  23. Wonderland doesn't have the exact same lamps as mine, but I find theirs super pretty. The range of colors they have is gorgeous too! If you get them, take so many pictures so that I can admire them
  24. Yup! Going to ask a friend to help us bring it back from the States. The link I gave you only ships to certain parts of the world. Alternatively, you could also get another retractable gate (looks almost 100% similar, just slightly different in color) from here - http://www.dreambaby.com.au/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=518 . This place ships from Australia, so I think they should ship to Singapore. The usual gates have a swing door that swings out/in when you open them. We're using that now at our current place. We didn't want that because we're installing it at the end of the stairs, so if we use a normal baby gate, the swing door will always be in the way. We wanted one that looks less obtrusive, that we can collapse to the side when we don't need it. This retractable gate is super easy to fix too!
