  1. Same! Knock it down...extend that bedroom, so when you walk in...you have a dressing table...walk further, the home shelter is the walk in closet...then you have a bigger bedroom!
  2. We cook everyday. And we hosts quite a few dinner gatherings. So something that can take stains was a must. Just in case
  3. Final leg of my reno...and the sink installation should be next week...ditto granite fabrication. I am really worried they will mess up and i can't use the grill. Is there anything in particular i should highlight to my contractors so that the grill can be inserted and taken out? very nervous
  4. oooo can't wait to check out your ideas!
  5. to be fair it was tumeric mixed with red wine...mixed with balsamic...mixed with kopi o coffee bag...mixed with chilli oil. LOL
  6. Thank you! Guess there is nothing that can be done then. Do you have trouble with heaps of dust trapping between the gap?
  7. Hey guys...this looks good...what do you think? http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=17624541210
  8. If you don't bake...well..it is a clean and healthy way to roast some chicken wings or drumbsticks to have with your meal...throw in some roasted veggies and everything is sorted while you take a shower after work. Add in potatoes and you dont even have to cook rice! LOL...i use it to roast meats...even chinese roast pork, i use it to grill babyback ribs...i can't live without my oven.
  9. That's fabulous! My study room wall took 2 months. If it wasn't for that, we would be happily settled into the new place
  10. The first day of carnage is the most exciting..you can start to envision what the place will look like. Don't worry about the stress really. It is all worth it. I remember the bits i was stressed about...that **** wall for my study...but after that was sorted...the only stress is arranging for deliveries and coordinating that sort of things. So if you are removing walls...even if it is not a solid black line...get it cleared with HDB EARLY...the delays are terrible
  11. Hey... stay positive...think of it this way...with all the helpful forumers..there is a support system! The ones that have used alan can share what you need to look out for....if there is a hiccup...heaps of forumers to assist with the problem solving and bouncing of ideas...
  12. congrats! Exciting days ahead....the buzz of seeing the carnage is awesome!
  13. Greg, i suggest putting your foot down and demand they right their mistake. Contractors add a buffer for these sort of stuff...try pushing!
  14. Summersan! Hi, i too installed relite fans for the house...with casing to hide the wires...no false ceiling. I noticed that the fan cap (where the motor is) isn't 100% flush with the ceiling...cos the fan itself isn't flushed. Did you have that problem? If you did, how did you solve it? pic to explain what i mean below.

  16. Hi hi! I opted to not have air conditioning for the first level too. Mainly cos of the energy consumption and well the house is very open....i have knocked down a lot of walls. One of the pros and cons i weighed..was the worry of the haze. But then again...my current place has AC for the whole house, and when the haze hit...we didn't turn on the AC in the living...only in the bedrooms. So in the end we decided not to be rulled by the haze. At the end of the day..the haze was very bad this time round...but hey...the other few years...it was bad but not THAT bad...so didn't wanna make a rash decision. If it is really bad...hide in the room! btw how many quotes are you getting before engaging your contractor? I think i "interviewed" five contractors before making my final decisions. Some of the quotes is crazy high! The difference between my cheapest quote and my most expensive quote was over 30K!
  17. It is the pots and pans that will be the biggest pain actually...cos onions etc stuck to the side of the pot after dishing out. Well it is done...enjoy the sink...make sure the water pressure is good...cleaning the sink fast will be easier then
  18. congrats on key collection!! Exciting time!! Tat side table is awesome...great buy...can you share where you found that? I saw this ages ago (getting old...cant remember where i saw it) and i have been trying to find it again update: I remember already! obviously the gingko vitamins are working today. LOL
  19. not good...water will seep in around the sink...i agree...withhold payment...get them to fix it proper...or else you will have a huge headache keeping that area dry..ALL THE TIME
  20. well done! Please PM me...i think my faucets are being installed next week....at least i have a solution on hand if they say...it can't be done... thank you so much!
