Hi Lancified, I sms the ID many times but he refused to give me an exact date as he already knew that he could not make it. I called him as could not tolerate anymore. He kept asking me not to pressurise him. I said i did not but in fact i need to know exactly as need to schedule my time. We did not sign the invoice. Now i think back this probably is he tactic, to avoid any further legal issues, everything is verbal. We paid him when we confirmed the engaged him and had made known to him that must hand over within 6 weeks, max time limit. Now prolong for at least another 2 to 3 weeks. Very angry.

I hope all this nightmare would not happen to anyone. I started my reno 6 weeks and suppose to hand over this week but nothing much is done. I kept chasing him for exact completion date with no answer. Kept delaying with many excuses eg: relative hospitalised, sick, and now sick again. Cannot answer, would answer me days later, when asked again. Keep saying later , later, advise you later till no ending. **** angry. My schedule is really tight. Need to move in next Thursday but mostly everything is not fully done up, about 80-90% not done. Don't know how. When ask him, then complain me why so fierce, don;t trust him is it, blah.... Real angry.

Hi Lancified, Congratulations! My house reno started since 6 weeks ago and supposed to hand over this week but nothing much was done. Only False ceiling, partial electrical & pelmet for sliding glass door @ kitchen have been done up. Still pending for carpentry works, fan installation, glass door @ kitchen, mirror @ MBR, painting, Windown grill & window glass installation. Angry! We were really dissapointed with our ID. When i sms/called him that i will go down during kitchen & fixture wall installation. I was questioned the reason for appearing during installation as he & his workers don't feel comfortable with my existence and said that if i do not trust him till now,we better end here and asked me to look for another ID. Was **** angry about his replied. Paid about 55% of reno and i could not afford any further delay. I told him i have to move in next week. He didn't even bother to advise a definite completion date even though i have been asking so many times. If i argue, then he would threaten that he would not want to do, ask me to get someone else. I have been suffering in silence, dare not say anything. Only sms him to ask, ask , ask to provide with exact completion date but never replied. If i call him i am worried i would lose control and ending up quarreling. Then, my reno will be gone with big hole and suffering again for searching ID to clear the back-log this ID left out. All brothers & sisters, how shall i deal with such case?

We bought our crystal light, pendant lights and led lights, total close to s$900 from taobao. First shipment of lights have been fixed and look great. Even though our new neighbor likes them too, Do explore more. But there is pris and cons. If u want trustworthy, then can buy from lightning.com for Phillis brand.

I bought led down light from lighting.com. It gives 1 year warranty.

Please ask him to check with you for every steps. This is what my ID does. He would discuss with us on everything he is going to do. Simply a lot of discussion. Certain things not needed now or can be waited, just check the price or have some ideas in my mind, decide or pay when u r certain after discussion with ID. Heard that peeka for big item is cheaper. Ship all together to save cost. If you ship bit by bit definitely expensive. Some also posted that they would send flat Futniture over. So u need to fix yourself.

We are going to do fixture wall. About 6k inclusive of 5 feet full height cabinet with tinted glass in middle for display, another 5 feet width, 2 feet tall and depth 400mm cabinet & about 15 feet low cabinet . With wood laminate for the wall .

Window grille is quite straight forward, u could just check out he price and get it done without ID. For kitchen cabinet, do get ID as needed to do piping. The measurement for kitchen cabinet is $110 per foot.for kitchen top, can try solid surface as it is the cheapest but it has pros. For kitchen sink, u could get ss steel & Genova kitchen sink c/w ss rack & chopping board, 802mm width if I remember correctly from diy bathroom & fan for $240. Look for Ann 97772285. For fan, Hob & hood, can get from Jerome 92256638. Furniture, can get from lister 62697887 ( do negotiate with him, usually he could offer very good price eventhough for promotion item) This is what I could help.

Pls don't get chew, heard expensive. I have just engaged an ID and am very frustrated too bcos have been looking around for coming to 6 weeks and could not get a desire one. Therefore we engage one that with good service but a little bit pricey. I don't really agree to it's charges as I feel that most of the work is expensive/ overcharged. But really have no luck to get a good and affordable one. Just shop more and do not hurry. Do not buy things recommended by them as they earn commission even though it is promotion/ offer items. Reno is not that straight forward, get a responsible one. So, I keep telling my self that high price I am paying is for good service, must have some iq. No choice. Some ID recommended here aren't really good as what they claimed as I met them and some I saw ttheir owner's house, the kind of cabinet these ID provided is very cheepo.

For diy bathroom and fans opposite alexandra hospital, do approach ms Ann, a young pretty lady. She is good and give quite a decent discount without much negotiation. Very helpful and like her service. The rest of two ladies, he service so so only. Just to add, ask ms Ann for the photo for more option. Fan here is not cheap but ss steel, quite a good price.

Dear blueriverview, Your statement is very true. But no matter how careful still will be " cheated" by the ID if one wants a beautiful house, unless just do a very basic one, then ID could not squeeze. I have finalized an ID, very detail and service oriented but the price is above average, no discount at all ( a bit expensive in my eyes) which I am not very comfortable about it. Had voiced out to the ID but he simply refuse to reduce the price. Even though some work had been reduce, he didn't even reduce the price accordingly. Very "helpful' to bring us to OM to buy furniture, get this and that. So far, we spent few hundred on down light at lighting.com where he brought us to. He recommended his owners to lighting.com and OM. I heard from a sales guy from a furniture shop that ID charges 5 to 10% commission should his customer make purchase. So just be careful unless you don't mind to pay extra. Back to the ID, it is really good money to them as he could absurd gst but charge **** high on carpentry and other works which I am not happy about it. I told him off too but he does not care. It is up to me whether to do or not. I have no clue where to get good and affordable ID, therefore just use his service. Even with recommended ID also problematic, dislike the service after a first discussion. Can't really communicate and no advice at all. U want to do 2 feet cabinet, he does. That is all. He won't give advise as in how to do it so that it looks good, what to watch out for ....... Simply no discussion n don't even bother owner's requirement. Haiz, Reno = headache.

We bought all our LED lights from taobao website. It is very much cheaper than getting it locally. Have yet to installed, so can't advise the quality yet. Anyway, we spent close to SGD1k on lighting, all from taobao website.

(opposite Alexandra Hospital, near Ikea) Joanne from Genova is very friendly and exprience but the price quoated to me not as good compared to DIY bathroom + fan. Just for sharing.

Hi all, My current house has been using undermount sink from Bellari (the big single bowl) for 9 years.It has been leaking since it was installed. I guessed the contractor didn't do a good job. The cabinet beneath it was damage. We feedback to contractor but he just came down twice to redo the "silicon" but did not solve the problem. At the end, we have to buy silicon and touch up many times. Need to be careful not to let the sink drop. Therefore, not to advice to put heavy stuff on top of it and need to watch out for leakage and dry it immediately after use. LEt the sink dries, then put on silicon. This is what we do. Leak again, then use silicon again. so now, my new house would be using top mount sink due to the reasons below 1. the contractor just told me (after signing the quotation) need to pay extra $80 for undermount. 2. worry that if we choose to undermount, we may face the same problem again. So, in order to save the troubles and money, we would use top mount. I find that it can be as nice as undermount. No need to insist to have undermount and pay extra.
