I went to the flat this afternoon to acknowledge deliveries of fridge, ceiling fan and the washer. I was quite pleased to see 6 workers busy working! The husband complained about the red tiles in the common bathroom have been laid too many and as a result it makes the already long bathroom looks dim. Initially, one side of the wall was tiled red but today, we noticed that the tiler has removed some and indeed the toilet looks brighter!

It is the metal gate main door which I am keen on as I can see from it that it's not of cheap quality. I know your spouse is very busy now, I will not want to bark on such trival matter. Thanks for sharing your T-blog, I can tell from the design and layout that your husband is a detailed person who is also creative. Nice home! -

Answer is no. You need to have smooth walls for wallpapers.

Hi Freakerz, We have installed FO termination box but as for LAN layout and cabling, I leave it to my husband to decide as I am a layman in this department.

Thanks for checking me out, Spikedoll Spoke to contractor yesterday, he said the stairs will be ready by Tuesday. I had previously told him that I would like to re-select some laminates again and when he came, he brought with him a few more catalogues for us to choose. After going through the details and colours of the walls we want to paint, we finally locked in our final selection of laminates. We will not be doing any carpentry work for the guest's room for now since not that often we have visitors but will do it up later on when we build-up our funds again. We have discussed and want something simple for the living area which allow us to change whenever want want or when we get tired of the look....haha, so we will go for a simple board (perhaps a 8" x 4' kind) that support the mounted TV and a simple tv console which we probably going to buy off the rack. He also said that the grilles will be up sometime in the week of 18th but didn't specify the actual date.

Simply love the 3D drawing of the kitchen!

For some reasons, since I was a teenager until now, a dressing table has never been part of my life. I just stand infront of the vanity area if I need to put on my makeup and the do. I confirmed I am not at all that ladylike! Haha....

View from the staircase can see the Main entrance, Study room &Dining area.

Thanks, regularJoe. As the renovation is still in-progress, I feel a little uncomfortable to provide contacts of my contractor as I am still monitoring the work the workers are delivering daily. Like all projects, there are hiccups but eventually he does sort them up for us. One thing I want to caution all is that although my contractor's have some good and experienced workers, he isn't one who will respond to calls/emails right away. He doesn't help to take pictures on the progress of the reno. We are very independent owners, hence, we are fine with these. If you follow in T-blog you will notice that I mentioned a few times that the reno is delayed and the handover date is now pushed until April. If you are keen in shortlisting my contractor, you are welcome to read on the progress on my T-blog and upon completion of my renovation, you are certain that you want to let him handle your reno, you may PM me again, I will be then provide you the contact details? Hope you understand where I am coming from.

Piping in the common bathroom on 2nd floor. I think the plumber did a great job so far.

Partition covered the roof above. A glass panel will be built here to separate the kitchen and living area. The sink will be placed in front of the glass panel in the yard. Roof up. Picture taken from MBR

Stairs As you can see, the 1st flight of stairs is moved to the right-hand side which is away from the original position of leaning against the wall on the left. By relocating the 1st flight of the stairs it breaks the eyeline sight between the entrance and the living area. And this create slightly more space to the dining area. Looking down from the platform

I arrived at the flat slightly before 6pm and the worker is just installing the windows, by the rate he works, the grilles will not be up even if we were to stay longer. Only took pictures of installed windows in the Study room and Living area. The husband like BLUE windows (with white frame), so it will be installed in the Living area, Service Yard and the 3 bedrooms. Living area (4 panels) Study's and Dining area. Husband chose double-sided glass/opaque to reduce some noise and have privacy. As you can see from the image below, once the windows are closed, you literally can't see what happens outside and vice versa.

spikedoll, we have a rented place to stay but thought if we can move in this month, we will not have to pay the extra rent but it's really not many choices eh! Going to inspect the unit after office hour as husband was told that the stairs will be ready by today and the windows suppose to be up too. If the unit is bright enough to allow us to take some pictures, I will try to upload some new images.

Thank you so much, clouds00007! I believe I know this shop as I was there with the husband before X'mas :-)

Contractor told husband that the handover date of the flat will be delayed until early April as there is a shortage of good craftmen in this industry. There is a slight disappointment but am not surprised as I do anticipate the delay......bugger!

Emm....maybe. But the upper floor works have been on-hold for weeks. Tiles in both bathrooms are 70% done only. The cabinet outside the common toilet and the parquet floor have zero progress. The group of workers are really slow but their workmanship so far so good. My contractor told me that he picked 2 top tilers to lay the tiles in my flat and their pay is high as they are considered as 'top' grade tiler.....something like that.

I believe the roof is 2.4m in height? May I ask what type of tiles did you chose for your roof? And how much is the cost? Thanks!

Contractor updated the husband that windows will be installed tomorrow. Not sure why take them so long to even lay the structure of the staircase. I am so tempted to ask but didn't want the workers to think that we are rushing them and they do a shoddy job I dislike cove light, as I believe that over the years, dust/dirt, dead bodies of cockroaches, sh*t of lizards/cockroaches will be accumulated and I dread the sight and have to clear off these stuff up there. Now I have a maid but on long run, I do not intend to keep her forever and I will be the person doing the housekeeping myself. Aesthetically it is a good but practically it does not work for me. We will have false ceiling; to hide wires.

Oh, really? We didn't refer to any EMs layout as references, we just adopt the 'go with the flow' mentality and our lifestyle & preferences to choose the stuff we want. Every 2 weeks, my spouse fly out on business trip and as a result it delays the whole renovation process because the contractor can't get him to decide on the laminates! The renovation now is 50% done, hence, last week, I took the effort to go down to the office of EDL and make the husband to make a decision on the selected laminates so that the contractor can get those stuff ready. I did not compare prices but was quoted $4500 for building the roof.

Roofing is completed. These are some images taken (in the service yard) by my spouse but he is unable to take pictures of the roof from the MBR because the stairs have not been reconstructed! images of partition board covered the roof tiles above. Nothing interestting :-(
