U-channel and treads on the first flight of stairs are up. Treads need sanding, polishing and varnishing before it is completely done up. View of the staircase from the hallway on 2nd floor.

Trunking of the aircon pipes have been done. Pictures below are taken this morning. The trunking is done in the guest's room and behind this wall is my daughter's room The connection made from the guest's room to my daughter's room. This big 'lobang' will be patched up.....of course :-) This is how the trunking is done in the master bedroom. The trucking done in the hallway that connects to all the 3 bedrooms. Pic 1 Pic 2
  3. Swakie, okay, here I have just clarified with the husband..... We have selected laminated glass.......2 pieces stick back-to-back (I don't know the term that's use), so you can't see inside the flat if you are passing by the corridor. Initially, we wanted those type with noise reduction type (because husband is using the Study as home-office) but think contractor said sliding type can't be done.

Thank you! :-) We will install grilles, hence we have decided to leave the blinds out.

Thank you! The bathtub is cheap, just cost $500. Cost of bath & shower mixer = $195 Cost of Shower set/rail +hose = $550 Supply labour & raw material to construct bathtub support $400 Cost for labour to install the bathtub as well as the rain shower = $450.
  6. HappyAng, you are another happy owner who can look forward to moving into your new flat early April! I am happy for you :-)
  7. I believe we use same kind of windows material for the corridor. The husband actually wants privacy and some reduction in noise, so he has chosen 2 layers of glass. You have installed 4 panels of glass but we only installed 2 panels as we will install grilles later. Nice home.
  8. spikedoll, I am happy for you. Soon you will be moving into your new flat!
  9. I suppose delaying handover of flat is kind of common!Met up with contractor last weekend and he said handover of the flat would be on April 17th....plus/minus 1-2 days or so.

The husband and I decided to hop over to the flat to check it out. When I arrived it was almost 7:00pm. There are some (not much) progress and quickly I took out the camera-phone and took a few pictures before the sky turns dark.
  13. Obviously it is for me since it is in written email with the HDB officer-in-charge! I would hope that the middle bar is not installed in my balcony *shrug*
  14. For me, it doesn't really bother me. The one that I would want to remove is actually the structural one....very eyesore but what to do since this is a HDB flat! I leave it to the husband if he wants to get rid of the lower bar, the contractor will ask his man to do it.
  15. Although the middle/centre metal bar can't be removed. Will you be removing the lower bar though?

The officer in charge responded to the email I wrote him to clarify if I can remove the horizontal metal section, he said it is part of the architecture features of the building that must be retained. Bummer!

Oh, got what you mean now. I will email him again to seek clarification!

Spikedoll, I emailed HDB this morning to inquire on this matter. The officer in charge responded saying it is ok to remove it. However, a minimum 1m safety parapet height from the floor level must be maintained after the railing is removed.

Thanks, potatoes :-) Yes. HDB approved this change on Feb 4th. Will post on the progress but I reckon it will take another week or so before the materials are being put together.

We have changed the windows in the service yard and will install grilles but with the protection bar which is obstracting the overall view, we were thinking of removing it. However, from hear-say, we were told that if we remove the bar now, when we intend to sell the flat, HDB will request us to 'put' it back. Has anyone done this before? Do you need to apply for HDB permit? Thank you!

Yes. In our case, it takes up close to 14% off the quotation. This is the main reason we have decided to do the carpentry work phase by phase as this is one of the item which can be delayed to later. Imagine if were to postpone reconstruction of the stairs to later, it means we need to hack and relay floor tiles.

At first we thought we need PE endorsement but think my contractor briefly mentioned that it's not required. I vividly recall that the cost for the 4 or maybe 5 panels of tempered glass alone is $6k-ish. The initial quote for reconstructing the 1st flight of stairs(inclusive of materials) + PE endorsement was very high. But I am not sure of the actual price now since we do not have to pay the PE.

Spikedoll, our contractor did submit drawings to HDB for approval and it took about 10-11 days for the authority to approve it.
