Thanks you too, Potatoes :-) I hope the end product will look just great. Afterall, quite an amount of the renovation cost were allocated to just one flight of stairs. Husband and I figured that our flat looks pretty bare. Hence, we need to acquire some other furniture to make it looks cosy and homely. However, this will be gradual as we've burnt a big holes in our pockets now after buying most of the fixtures and furnitures.

Thanks heap......LOL. I went down last Sunday and then this afternoon. I can't afford to go down daily as everyday when I go during lunch hour, I ended up with an extended lunch break! If this goes on, I might lose my job! My spouse used to go down in my absence but he is away on a business trip since last week.

Thanks, HappyAng. He said most likely on April 20th but by the look of the progress I wouldn't hold my breath.

Instant Water Heater For Hdb - Which Brand/ Model Should I Buy?
kooky replied to meijuan's topic in Electronics & Electricals
We are going to install 707 Compact instant heater in the bathroom on the ground floor. I bought it from the shop where we bought our sanitary wares. -
Tempered glass railings for the 1st flight of stairs have been installed. Image 1 Image 2 (left hand side, below the windows the structure of the shoes cabinets is built) Image 3

I have been quietly doing the countdown for you, HappyAng.......LOL Hope tomorrow will be a happy handover from your contractor!

Hi, I second what the others have shared. Red is nice colour but not advisable to use it too excessively. My flat which is (still) undergoing a renovation now, we use red tiles in toilets and burgundy kitchen cabinets. We dare not use Fiery Red as we are not so daring.........LOL. I know many who believe in Feng Shui will not recommend Red walls or too much reds in a home. As we do not have a theme for our home and some will feel that it's so 'rojak'. Since we are not confined with a theme, it gives us the liberty to choose tiles, wall paints, home furnitures base on our likings and make selection of colours more easily. Most of the colours in our unit are White, Ivory and some Black. Personally, I feel that some reds in the flat will make it less boring. Our home has nothing special but we love it because we get involved in choosing almost everything and we enjoy the renovation journey (this far) with some hiccups here and there. I look forward to seeing more images of your place in your t-blog :-)

The workers even left their cans/bottled and packets of tea/coffee into the unit and after consuming just leave them all over the place. I really don't understand why they can't just bring these empty stuff with them when they leave. These leftovers might attract ants. I keep calm and didn't bring it up to my contractor as the big picture (completing the reno) is what I want to focus on now :-) Our girls are almost same age. Mine just turned 21 months last week. Very chatty, extremely active and she enjoys playing with other kids even though they are much older than her....she is friendly and not shy; I take this as a bonus!

Yeah, some of the workers are rather unfocused. My contractor has to ask them to rework on some of the jobs they have completed and sometimes the delay can be another 2-3 days more. Although there are some hiccups, your renovation is turning out well :-) I also has a toddler at home and so for safety reason, I stress and stress again to my contractor and all the workers I see each time I visit the unit that I do not want to see any sharp edges or corners. They will have to file them to round corners if they are not done according to our requirement. Memt0s,how many old is your toddler?

We don't believe in FS. If go by FS theory, our layout has lots of taboos and we are doomed......LOL Change the direction of the stairs for (1) to breaks the eyeline sight between the entrance and the living area; meaning people walking past the corridor do not look right into the living area (2) to create more space for our round dining table The gradient looks almost the same. I didn't really check but contractor said same.

The workers are sanding the parquet floor and the newly installed treads on the first flight of stairs. Image 1 - Guest's Room Image 2 - Our daughter's room Image 3 - Master Bedroom Image 4 - Hallway Image 5 - Stairs. Treads on the lower flight are new. We retain the treads on 2nd floor to save cost. Is there a big difference in colour?

Lights and ceiling fans are up! Living Area

We chose this quartz for our kitchen top to match the laminate that's selected.
-
My sentiment too.

Ah, thanks for posting this pic :-)Yeah, it puzzled me how the person sits! Maybe the previous owner/occupants of the flat squat on the toilet seat! Hehe....

Hi sherting, it was originally a PLC light but we have requested to change it to LED light. It is a 40W LED for the kitchen. The cost is $238 before GST.
-
Met up with the contractor this afternoon to discuss on some carpentry works before the carpenter starts working on the kitchen, wardrobes and shoes cabinet. We have purchase lights since only last week and the 1st coat of painting was done only on Monday, we then decided to change some laminates now as things are shaping up Initially, the husband does not want to plaster the wall but after discussion with the contractor, for aesthetic reason, he decided to plaster up the entire unit and in fact, it does look better than rock stone wall effect. I will be replacing some of the images of laminates which we had selected earlier to keep this T-blog updated.

I love the look of your breakfast and bar counter!

HappyAng, it's not easy to visualise. I thought all toilet bowl will be mounted onto one wall? Mine will be mounted on the red tiled wall in the ground floor common toilet and if a person is huge, I doubt s/he will have much leg-room.
-
Your so-called 'hobbit' toilet on the ground floor is almost similar to ours! I dislike it and was hoping to change the direction of the toilet but was told HDB will not approved it due to the floor trap. We just have to live with it! Wishing you a smooth reno journey!

HappyAng, at first I thought we have lots of light fitting but after looking at yours, I suppose we are 'sama sama'. I know my spouse has placed order for over 42 lights for the entire unit. Our contractor also told us that this week, lights fitting will be up.
-
We went to select lights. Chandelier is not in our shopping list since we have decided to install ceiling fans in the entire flat. We just chose simple light fitting so long it does the job. But due to the fact that there are lots of ceiling lights, we ended up buying over 40 light-fitting, with mix of PLC and LED lights. The cost is more than we thought it would be.
