Hey HappyAng! We were told that we can move into the flat by May 10th, hope in the next 2 weeks or so, most of the reno will be completed with as little hiccups as possible :-)
-
Congrats on your purchase and becoming an EM owner. I reckon 115k COV is really over the top! But then again, since EA & EM is hard to come by thsee days and for your kids, I suppose you and yours must've felt that it is all worth it :-) Looking forward to see the transformation of this unit!

Our kitchen cabinet is Burgundy colour, and sink is stainless steel so we have selected a black quartz.

The painter will do another round of painting over those trucking and all other corners/areas where painting is required. We do not want to spend another sum of money on plastering these trucking as we would like to do some storage/shelving which incur an additional cost. Moreover, the concealed part is almost same colour as our paint colour, so it isn't at all so obvious. We have chosen quartz to do the breakfast counter. Contractor mentioned something like they need to cut the customised size and it takes 2 weeks to get the material ready; we didn't probe him further.

Hi 3Dyms, we only installed aircons in the bedrooms and as you can see from the pictures, the biggest aircon piping/trucking is on the beam in the hallway but since they are quite neatly concealed, we decided to do away with boxed up. The aircon units were installed on last weekend, I will try to take a few pictures when we visit the flat again this weekend. My sink, washer and dryer will be placed in the yard, that's why we prefer a big windows and built a roofing above the service yard. We have been told that the top for the breakfast bar counter will not be ready until much later date though.

Welcome to RT and becoming an EM owner :-) We shared something similar - we balloted in SOBF and got queue number 1 which gave us the privilege to select a unit before the others and of course, not having to pay COV is a big bonus to us :-) From the pictures you have uploaded, your EM is indeed in a very good condition and that will help you to save up a lots of $$. Congrats to you and yours and best of luck in your contractor/ID selection!

The windows installer helped to submit removing of the lower metal bar and HDB has approved it. I am pleased that we can have a big windows in the service yard which means more natural lights coming into the unit. However, the centre metal bar (which cannot be removed) is so eye-sore as you can see that it is so severly slanted across the wall! This week, grilles are expected to be up and carpentry work to start in the kitchen area. Left: Before Right: After (lower mental bar removed and windows are up)

Your unit looks great and I like the overall ambience!

Hello! potatoes :-) The husband only want something like one line across as featured wall in the toilets and noticed that both of you have similar ideas except colour we chose is red instead of orange; I see that you are more daring in use of colours - good for you! So paisei never visit your blog until now.

Thank for your compliment. It has been over 4 months since we engaged our contractor - well, we have to give him the benefit of doubts as he only came into the picture after we have 'sacked' our 1st contractor who is rather incompetent in submitting clear drawing to relocate our staircase Due to X'mas and CNY and my spouse traveling again, the renovation sort of put on hold and another few more weeks as there are some minor hiccups here and there. It is not smooth sailing but we are getting there. If I have a chance to choose again and there is available EA in this vinicity, I will take an EA anytime because the cost on re-constructing the staircase ; depending on material one has chosen, is rather expensive. Hope your renovation journey will be as hassle-free as possible :-)

In our case, we did not engage FS master and since my spouse is not a local, we simply ignore those FS taboos and go ahead with this layout and dare to use those colours that are usually advice by FS master as 'do-not/avoid to use'. Wait till carpentry works in the kitchen are done up - you will see that most of the stuff are hiden there........LOL

Yes, the partitioned room is from the kitchen. It is our helper's room. But in order to make it liveable, we need to put in a door with louvre and installed a rotational ceiling fan. The space is sufficient to put a single bed, a small wardrobe and a writing table.

adidaem, thanks for dropping by :-) Yes, after we have collected the keys and went to view this unit, we chatted with a few neighours and realise that they pay sky-rocket COV. We are indeed blessed to get the unit COV-less.

Potatoes, initially we want railings but contractor told us to do away with it as it will look modern and 'clean'. it should comes with the tempered glass panels! The worker has cut the wrong size, thats why until now the glass panel is not installed on the 2nd floor. I can't afford to go 'open concept for staircase' since I have a toddler :-)

It seems like someone has tidy up the unit a little but you can still see cans lying around on the floor. As mentioned before, not much progress since today is first day of the week. However, the aircon guy rang me up today and said will install aircon units this Thursday and after husband has confirmed all the carpentry works, the wardrobes and kitchen cabinets will be up. I would think next week, some structure of carpentry work in the kitchen will be shape-up. I purposely turn on all the ceiling/downlights when taking some of these images. Image 1 - view taken near to the staircase, looking into the kitchen, toilet and a spare room. Image 2 - Do you see the 2 platforms outside the toilet? Due to space constraint, has no choice but do some carpentry work on both side to store the built-in oven and storage for kitchen stuff - we have loads of kitchen 'barang barang'. It is suppose to be a walk-in toilet as suggested by my contractor and this needs confirmation from my husband before commencement of the carpentry work. . Image 3 - view from the living area across the dining area, kitchen and Study. Oops, just realised that the section of downlight at the staircase were not switched on Image 4 - Another view from the living area across the dining area, kitchen and Study. Image 5 - forgot to turn-on the light on the 2nd level

Pardon my ignorance, why is the compressor installed in the balcony? Is it because you have installed aircon in level 1? We decided to do away with aircon installation on level one (purchased system 3 to install in all the bedrooms which are on level 2) and the compressor is installed outside the void area outside the master bedroom. Am I missing something which I should take note? Please share. -
Thanks for the encouragement, Potatoes :-) Yeah, luckily we still have a place to stay and has yet to break the lease. Once the carpentry work is confirmed by the 18th, it would be close to completion. My contractor told me that early this week the glass panel for the rest of the stairs will be installed and they will varnish the timber treads to complete the staircase work. I will share more pics if there's any progress. Thanks for the patience and all the positive words everyone.

Buying off the shelves came to our mind but the measurement that my spouse wants, is hard to get those off the shelves....this is simply and the main reason we are looking for custom-made TV console.
-
Hi! We have decided to get custom-made TV console as we might want to relocate the TV later. Has anyone customised their TV console? Would you recommend the company that custom-made it? Would you mind sharing picture of your custom-made TV console and roughly how much did you pay for it? Thanks heap!

Thanks, Spikedoll. The spouse just looked at the wardrobes layout which I had emailed him and he wants it to be changed. He wants to speak with the contactor and carpenter face-to-face so this means there will be a delay in the handover date since the husband will only be back on the 17th and the discussion can only take place the next day.
-
I think the earliest will be end-April. My husband will only be flying back from Australia on April 17th. We have not contacted a mover company yet.
-
Hi Andy, Would you mind provide me your company's website so that I can take a look before deciding the type of grilles we would like to purchase? Also, do you have Iron Wrought gates for selection? Thanks!

We have been living in a rented house since we got married. Over the last 15 months or so, we have had purchased quite a lot of stuff (mainly my girl's clothes, toys) and husband's cabinets that store client's files. We built storage cabinets and cupboards but because the flat is smaller, we need to dump away lots of stuff before the move. We are bringing over 85% of the things that are bought by us though to save costs. Such is life eh...... just have to make do with what we have :-)
