Thanks for the direction! I will look for the herbal horfun next time when we visit the food centre! :-) My little one whom I had just brought for 2nd haircut on Friday. She was wailing loudly and refused to let the kids' hairdresser to cut her hair, hence her fringe looks a bit strange......LOL. She had her 1st haircut when she was just 4.5 months old. She has the cheeky look - definitely a little rascal!

Yes, if you are getting the windows and grilles from the gate supplier, you do get a better quote as these are regarded as package deal. I am still trying to get the supplier to finalise my customised the gate before manufacturing it and installation; this man seems very busy!

Please spend couple of seconds to read the 1st post in my T-blog. You will realise that my contractor is not Mr K. K is the initial of my daughter's name. Also, kindly do not message me just to ask of my reno quote. Thanks

adidaem, thanks for the warm welcome and friendly introduction of this neighbourhood! I had tried the famous steam chicken rice stalk at blk 153. In fact, we go there for lunch very frequent as my husband love the chillies sauce and ginger paste to go with the chicken. I had tried the Lor Mee last weekend with my sister and mum and indeed it's worth the queue. There are a few fishball noodles stalls and we have yet to explore all of them to find out which is the one that suit our palate. As for the herbal hor fun, ermm......I didn't notice there is any. I will need to pay more attention next time when I am there again. Hardware store near the 7-eleven, yes I do need to buy some more stuff and would be handy since the shop is just stone-throw away. Have a pleasant Tuesday!

Xie Xie Ni, Potatoes :-) The kitchen is neat and clean now cos we have not yet started cooking which usually will turn the kitchen into a warzone! LOL The flat looks rather bare and need to spend the next couple of months acquiring some decorative stuff to make it looks more conducive.

I get the contact of my first contractor/id from recommendation from a bloke that is my mum's friend son. After 2 months, he was still trying to submit drawing on reconstructing of the 1st flight of stairs. To cut long story short, he is incompetent so we dropped him and use our current contractor/id who has helped my bro to renovate his flat few years bad. Although my contractor isnt from any big ID firm, he used to work in a company that tender condo projects and he has been in this industry for many years. The layout of my kitchen is his idea (e.g space planning). It is his background and sound knowledge that we decided to use him. He is now on his own and setup a company with a few partners. The quotation he provides is not the cheapest but it is not over the top. Overall, we are pleased with him. All the best in your ID finalization and smooth renovation ahead!

Raindance shower in the master bedroom. The half glass panel (shower screen) has yet to be installed.
-
The dining area. The dining set is more than a year old but because the condition is still good, we keep it to save some cost.
-
I am not sure if mine can be considered a rain shower or not. It is handsgrohe but they are raindance shower with a panel which we can adjust the height and tilt the showerhead. At first I thought they are the same (e.g. rain shower vs raindance shower) and price-wise, it is very affordable. I don't mean to confuse you. My apologies!

Frankly speaking, I can't confirm if this is common for all EMs here. However, I have noticed that 2 of my neighbours' access route are same as mine and didn't get to see the layout of the other neighbours yet.

Thanks for your best wishes and compliment, 3Dyms. As an observation, I do noticed that many homeowners will choose the 'safe' colours as they are easier to match with furniture and these colours will not be outdated. The husband and I could be the odd balls.......haha Edit: to amend a mistake I have made! The shower I had installed is 'rain dance' shower....I am not sure if anyone would consider this as rainshower?!
-
Prior to us buying the 56L water tanks, my contractor did a water pressure test. the water pressure so far is consistent and it takes about 2 mins to get hot water:-). I am pretty satisfied with the water pressure and the rainshower.
-
No, you aren't 'kiasu'. We have installed 2 hangrohe rainshower and also has to take into consideration that if 2 persons are taking a shower at the same time (though realistically it will not happen) and the contractor also advised us to install a 56L storage tank and we only have 4 persons living in the flat.......LOL

I have always stay in the South-west, even though I am now staying in Mei Ling St, my siblings and mum are saying that I am staying 'away' from them......LOL simply because the distance from my place to theirs is more than 2km away. The laminate in the kitchen is the only place where we feel we should in-still some colours since the paint, wardrobes and most furniture that we had selected are pretty neutral colours (except black). We are not as daring; didn't choose chilli red or bright red, just burgundy colour which is easier to maintain than a white kitchen. All the best to your reno journey :-)

Yes, previously stayed in landed but because it is rented, I feel it's make more sense to stay in a place that's owned by us. Even though we are staying in a HDB flat now, it is still better than paying bank loan for the landlord. Swollen legs can be unbearable. I was blessed that I didn't have this issue and no morning sickness thoroughout my pregnancy and was able to work until a day before I was admitted to the hospital to deliver my girl. Take good care of your wife, you guys are in the finishing lap and soon to see your precious prince.......hang on! :-)

HI momiji, we have big windows and the measurements for 2 of them (living area and service yard) are quite big, so the installer has to made 9 panels altogether. The cost for timber material is over $2k and the mechanism he uses are very easy to pull; almost effortless.
-
It depends on your colours scheme in your unit. If yours is neutral colour and the brown which your daughter has chosen is not the dark, I reckon it should be OK. Most importantly, are you comfortable with it? You might want to take a look at my t-blog as I did put up pictures of the MBR and living area where the blinds (white & grey) are installed.
-
We installed same colours for all the windows. Instead of aluminium type which can wobble over a period of time, we chose timber material.
-
Having a young toddler and a helper who always make the kitchen looks like a warzone after she cooks, I have to select a darker colour for my kitchen laminate. My choices of texture and colours are futher reduced since my spouse dislike wood-like laminates. I am one who actually like wood-like type of laminates........alas......... Nice 3D drawing of your kitchen :-)

We have the same kind of chairs! However, it's black chairs that we chose since our dining table is white marble with a black lazy susan in the centre....just to match it! Also bought ours from Star Living. Roller blinds and Roman blinds are very economical. Wise choice.

Hi, HappyAng! We are indeed busy unpacking and think it would take us another week or so to fully unpacked all the boxes. Climbing up and down the stairs are not so tiring as in our previous place, we climb daily. The biggest challenge that we face now is that my girl is crying all nights and refuses to go down. She was only 8 months old when we moved to our previous rented place and now she is 22 months. She needs some time to settledown in our new home. I hope it will not take too long, or I will alway come to office with panda eyes! Another few more weeks and your prince will arrive huh? Are you and your wifey feel the wait is tad too long?

The master bedroom. We make a tab-on door to hide the window (which we aren't allowed to remove it!). If the aircon guy needs to access the condenser, he can just step-up on the laminate 'stool' which we built next to the TV console and tab on the tab-on door to get out.
