  1. Oh that sounds pretty bad and judging by the pictures, I wouldn't be happy either. I do hope it can all be resolved by the time you move in........ I agree with you, it is very hard to set up appointments face to face , and to get timely replies!!!! However our Id does call us back .....but in his time! So I know it's frustrating but we have decided to not get to fussed about it anymore. It is too tiring !!! At the end of the day we have to trust that they will deliver!!!im hoping they deliver for u too!!! We are all excited for our new homes!!!!wishing you all the best for a speedy solution .........
  2. Hi. We have also engaged an id from urban design. He is Malaysian too. When we went around with him we found that the tile shops, light shops, bathroom accessory shops, have Malaysian staff too. But we have no problems as they offered good service. We feel quite comfortable, but of course we know we are paying more for the convenience of ordering thru their designated shops. I must say our Id is relaxed and doesn't feel pressure. But we will only know if that's a good thing or not by the end of our project. I guess it's a give and take approach. No doubt we want the best of the best but we can't always get it. We realize that punctuality, keeping an appointment, returning calls are very important to us too. At this time, everything seems to be going okay, except for a few minor hiccups. I guess we have to trust them to do the job well. We will keep u posted on our journey!!!
  3. After reading so many feedbacks, so many info from this forum, we have decided to start our very own story to contribute our experience in the renovating process. We have a bought a resale condo, our dream home, to raise our little ones. We decided to do a thorough search for the best designer, with the best intentions for our home. Our primary focus was affordability, creativeness, a good listening ear, sound advise as well as honesty. Along with all these qualities we needed to find someone that we were comfortable with, that would be punctual and give us the necessary attention. Well it took us two months to screen through ten quotations as we know a lot of people will ask you why didn't you get more quotes etc. so we used I compare, in addition we went to home fairs to ensure we could get the very best. We must say that the response was fast and furious. The only prob was that we didn't have a floor plan as it is an old estate. Nevertheless a few designers came back to us without any issues because they just needed measurements of the main door to work it out. This process was rather tiring as we had to sit down with ten designers and give them our requests , some of them had valid feedback, others brought issues to our attention. And the rest ..... Well we walked out thinking that was a waste of our time. Anyway we came down to three , one a contractor and two others id The contractor had an awesome concept with mediocre workmanship. The other two, good idea shut in the end we chose a young designer from urban xxxxxx he seemed calm yet attentive. In fact we had our first consultation on the first day of the ghost month. Who cud forget . Why we choose him, he calm, compromising and keeps things realistic. We felt comfortable. The only down side is that he isn't always punctual. But nobody is perfect! Anyway, the story never end in renovation......I will give you our top three reasons for selection. One- a genuinely good Id. Two- affordability. Three- openness in costs and ideas. Cn you imagine that he even took us to another project where he had a complaint on this forum. That impressed us as he didn't mind to be transparent. Of course not everything is bright and sunny. We do have a few hiccups. But we are working thru them. Wil try our best to post pic throughout the reno.
