  1. Hi Nexer, Good luck in your renovation! I've been looking to reno my arm flat too, doing almost the same things as you...35k seems to be the price for most contractors too! Any luck getting a lower quote?
  2. Well, the overall cost to either smoothen or hack away the rock-spray wall + cement screening the walls is WAY above plastering and painting...guess I will go for the cheaper option for now.
  3. Hi Paloma,

I'm very interested in getting the Papa Bear Chair, saw it at Lush for 2k and studio 1961 at 1/2 the price. Where did you get your's from?

  4. It's been a while and I've met up with 3 more IDs/contractors to discuss my renovation. Doesn't look like it's going to be anywhere close to my original budget! But I'm guessing since all the the quotes are within 5k of one another, I really have to spend that amount of money. Oh the other hand, I am so unwilling to make compromises...so let's see how this journey goes.
  5. I also have a similar problem, my contractor says not possible to do cement screed on my living room and bedroom walls because it has been sandblast coated. (not sure of the terms, but my wall has little bumps on them). anyone has this experience before? was told the cement walls will fall off if i insist on cement screeding the walls.
  6. Hi Cutebaby Most forummers are correct, contractors and ID's price difference is around 10%, at least that's what i've gotten so far. Which means my reno will still blow my budget by about 4k sigh. Waiting to hear from 2 more before I make a decision.
  7. a bit bored waiting for contractors to send my quotations, so went ahead to look for another. It's an interesting way to expand on one's design/ideas for the flat..... am a little bit disappointed to find out that my flat's walls are not really suitable for putting on cement screed, so I am in search for a new design/look for my flat...well, unless is super sand down and then roughen up the walls which would definitely burst my budget.
  8. More random stuff to put around the flat, this time it's prints on vintage book pages!
  9. Went over to my flat to take photos for IDs and contractors, very glad to see that other than the toilets, the flat was relatviely clean. Will share photos once current owners shift out!
  10. Potong pasir COV's getting more than more ridiculous! Along with valuation ...
  11. Finally went for the first appointment this morning, am glad the process was quick and efficient! Officially getting house keys first week of November! Yipee! Worked my way down to 1ID and 2 contractors, now just waiting for their finalised quotations and to compare them side by side. Love all 3's workmanship...so hard to make a decision..;(

  15. As for sound systems.. 2 very different designs ..but i love them both! Pure amplification by design and speakers built into a tv console...and 2 very cute Japanese kids who were playing with the toys on the console!
  16. Had a long and tiring day running around furniture shops to look for stuff and get inspiration! Loved the following lights! not a fan of chandeliers, but the one below really caught my eye!
  17. Thanks Nivle! Anyway, I've been to 3 more IDs/contractors to chat about renovation, that makes a total of 9! Whew! very tiring! And had 2nd visits to the previous 3 IDs i've spoken to. Am hopeful to get a lower quote as the last 2 people I've spoken to are contractors..and the quality of their work really top notch!
  18. I wonder if a kitchen island is better..hmm...
  19. Was playing around with floorplanner.com and managed to come up with idea 1 for kitchen
  20. Im also going to have an open kitchen + living room concept. Getting mixed reviews from IDs, some said a 24 BTU unit will be able to cool most of the area, others said need 2 aircons.... I actually thought of using floor to ceilings blinds made of thicker materials like those used for projectors to act as a semi-partition that can be raised and inconspicuous when not in use. and if you are going for project system to watch tv and videos...that might be a good idea! I spoke to a blinds specialist, he said he has never gotten such a request before and he cannot guarantee that rooms will be cooled. but it's the only idea i can think of other than using glass doors/ folding doors.
