Hi, I received some PMs asking me for the name of my ID. I wish to apologize for not replying to the PMs. I have my principles and hope that other forumers can understand. My reno is almost completed. Will be taking over and making my final payment once the final touch up is done. I will not be visiting this forum after this. So, not likely to read any PMs or postings. Forum which edits, delete, suspends or bans forumer/s for posting his views loses its credibility. So forumers who think that they can get the whole and true pic from this forum would be in for disappointment. I was being suspended for stating the truth. Some of my postings were deleted. So, to me, this forum is not my cup of tea. Regards, Patrick Goh -

Little update on the reno in Blk 144 Lor Ah Soo. My complaint about the thin "V" gap glass door of my master shower screen has just been rectified by the installer. According to the installer, it was because of the size of the glass panel. He installed additional stainless steel bar at the top of my shower screen to secure the glass panels. I am very satisfied with the prompt rectification work. My satisfaction level of Summit reno, [scale from 1 (poor) to 5 (very satisfied)] Kitchen cabinet - 5 Table top - 5 Painting work - 5 Tiling - 4 Plumbing - 5 Workflow Co-ordination - 3.5 Reliability - 5 Helpfulness - 3 Responsiveness to complaints - 5 Rectification work done - 4.6 Overall - 4.7 Patrick Goh -

You do have a valid point here. But I know my ID had done his best and it was beyond his control. As far as I am concerned, he is not at fault. There is another thing bothering me. My just-installed shower screen needs to dismantle and re-do. 1 pc of glass panel is not upright (slanted outwards), so, the gap between the glass door and the panel becomes a thin "V" shape. Big gap at the top and tiny gap at the bottom. This kind of standard is not acceptable. My ID had already taken some pics and he is taking the issue with the installer. Why am I so unlucky to have to encounter such eye-sored workmanship and the hassle of having to re-do some work? I just got a call from the Painter, informing me of the time they are coming. Giving me a time frame of 1/2 hr. This should be the way. Can let the customer wait, but cannot let the customer wait for too long. A time frame of within 1 hr is reasonable. From now on, I won't wait for too long. If within 1 hr they don't come, I won't wait. I will just leave my house and continue with my work. -

According to my ID. He confirmed the timing several times on several days. So, it was the workers' fault. -

After pressing the ID for confirmation. I just got call from the ID that the workers can't make it and can only come on tomorrow morning. I had been made a fool by these workers. Waited for few hours waiting for nothing. I hate people who make promise or arrange schedule which they can't keep. I am aware that there might be unforeseen circumstances, but to notify customer of the change of appointment time is very important. Not doing so is tantamount to making people waiting like a fool. Such basic courtesy also lacking. -

I am made to wait and wait for my glass panel. The appointment is that their workers would come this morning. I went back home around 11.00am and am waiting until now. I SMS my ID asking when the workers can come. His worker called to tell me that they can come between 3.00pm to 5.00pm. The schedule was in the MORNING and now the worker told me 3.00 - 5.00pm as though people are very free to wait. As though consumers are at their whim and fancy. As I have overseas suppliers in town and I cannot afford to wait. I told the worker either come b4 3.00pm or don't come. Waited until now, the worker still yet to call me to tell me whether they can come b4 3.00pm. I am very disappointed. Very very disappointed and very angry for having to wait for nothing. -

Renovation is an one off thing. Those who surf this forum are people who are going to renovate their houses, their purpose of coming here are to: seek recommendation, suggestions and feedback on some contractors. After the renovation and feedback given, there isn't any purpose to come here anymore. I am puzzled that there are forumers who renovated their house years ago still bother to come here to read and post. To me, there are 3 main categories of posting forumers. 1) Genuine house owners - to find a contractor. After completion of reno and leave their feedback, these forumers would disappear. 2) Forumers from Reno contractors - their main purposes are here are to promote their firms and defence any negative comments 3) Reno Competitors out to badmouth each other. Who are the forumers who are trustworthy? It is not easy to know. But those who joined this forum for more than 6 months and still actively posting are forumers the general public need to be wary. They may be from the contractor side or from the competitors. There is one forumer whose words are trustworthy and his views need to be taken seriously. This forumer none other than me - Patgoh. Hi, I received several PM asking me my ID's name. These PMs put me in a dilemma. I am the type of person who commend the good and condemn the bad. But my ID is not that bad. Nothing serious enough to warrant condemnation. So, I decide not to reveal. Please don't PM me. Let me sleep soundly (snore like a pig) Patrick Goh -

Some updates of my experience and observations during renovation in blk 144 Lor Ah Soo The tilers Tiler No. 1, who did my balcony was good. Can say 95% of of 100%. Workmanship good. No ponding problem. I was very satisfied. Tiler No. 2, who did my Master Bedroom Bathroom- The tall, big-sized fellow was a little impatient and not helpful. I requested that the trap in shower screen to position at a certain position and he commented that the piping already cut. Cannot shift. (His boss placed it right at the corner, which I think is ugly and not an ideal location). I said," alright, but at least you must position it in between, so that it is balance). Despite his un co-operatin, his workmanship was very good. He really put in efforts to do a good job. For examples, he drilled a circular hole which fits the pipe perfectly and the tiles he cut fit very well The edges are nicely cut and fit perfectly. Other places where the tiles need to be cut or trimed. He did very well. Although I didn't like him, I love his workmanship. Tiler No.3, who did my Common bathroom. This one, the workmanship so so only. The gaps in between tiles also some big some small. The edges are not nicely done in some corners. Besides this gap issue, the tiling can only considered as OK. Passable. Tiler No. 4, who is currently doing my kitchen. This one is 30+, very obliging but the workmanship is bad. The tiles are uneven. Even when the unevenness is so obvious he still thought that it was OK. He would give me excuses like because of the tiles not straight, because the there are 2 edges, because the plastic lining are not straight, so tiles cannot be tiled nicely. etc... I complained to the ID, who got him to redo, there was only slight improvement after re-do. Some other tiles which I pointed out are remain undone. I am not happy with this as the said tiles are at the prominent location. I requested the ID to get another Tiler to re-do. As I think that to this Tiler, he already thought that that was his best. Getting him to re-do would not able to get better result. I would wait and see whether the ID follow up on this. Last Saturday, there were 3 tilers, but unfortunately my downstairs neighbor complained about the noise and the noisy work had to stop around 3.00pm. Today, Monday, Tiler No. 4 alone. Tomorrow still Tiler No. 4 doing alone. The progress can be improved. As for the Plasterers. 2 young men plastered my ceiling. They are quite good. Workmanship good. My own created problem. The kitchen floor tiles I chosen was very awful. There are alot of black lines which make the tiles look very dirty. While at the showroom selecting tiles, the sample tile looked ok, only 2- 3 thin lines. Most of the tiles I recievied had more dark lines and some dark patches. The tiling was already 95% done. I talked to my ID of my intention to re-do the tiling and pay for the additional charges. But my ID said, need to apply Hacking Permit again if want to hack. He suggested that if I want, I should lay another layer of tiles on top of this one. Will update my experience and observation here to share. Patrick Goh -

Not nice to mention his name here. During the past few days, my routine was, called him like I take my medicine, 1 time in the morning and 1 time around 10.00 pm. In between, I also called him and SMSed him. I was made to wait at home for his workers on Mon n Tues. Only to be told that no workers coming after a whole morning of waiting at home staring at the rows of sand bags and boxes of tiles in my living room. Last nite, I called and was told that the workers coming to work this afternoon. So I am going back home around 12.00pm to wait for the workers. Patrick Goh
