  1. Hmmm.... so many different dimensions of tiles, wouldn't it be hard to align them well or is it possible to align?
  2. Welcome to RT BLOG! Hope you have smooth reno journey and wedding ceremony! -)
  3. No Problem. So in total you had 10 boxes right? Mine was 24 boxes plus other products I bought. So definitely need transport. ;p
  4. Hi Mk, If you need the contact to the transport company, please inform me and I will msg you the details. I just got all my craftstone + Craftbricks + other accessories transported today. Will post the pictures later. =)
  5. HI ProjectH, I checked with my cousin , he mentioned that it is actually transport company and so if you want I can get the contact and pass it to you. It is a Malaysian transport company so you will be calling into Malaysia. If you want the contact, please msg me and I will pass you the contact.
  6. Sink getting laid with concrete for sink support.
  7. Hi potatoes, I'm in Woodlands. I'm not doing anything fancy at my Foyer. Once you open the door you will see two things. The first is a D.I.Y Greenwall and at the far end you will see the prayer altar. At the back of the door will be the low height shoe cabinet. At the far end on the other side will be my new hidden storeroom. I broke the wall in the kitchen where the storeroom was located and have shifted it to the far end corner where it is hidden. Currently it is just a empty space, but will install metal racks with ply wood and have a two panel sliding door to close the "Storeroom". The other thing we will be doing is green up the place with plants etc... We will be creating a false ceiling in the area to have some down lights with warm lights to create a cosy feel. Hope it turns out the way as imagined.
  8. Hi Retchlow, I think it is the same tiler with the toothy grin and a pretty nice guy.
  9. Hmmm.....not sure if it is different group of tilers..... Anyone got a chinese male with a small moustache?
  10. Hi Potatoes, Thank you for the wishes. Much appreciated and needed ! Saw that you went through a lot issue resolution and decision making during your renovation, but came out with a pretty good looking home! Similar to you, I am keeping my marble flooring and just polishing it. Please view what I am doing in my renovation and if you have any feedback or things you think could be done better, please inform since I am a newbie and a 1st timer in renovating my home. thanx!!
  11. Hi MK, I just want to put a disclaimer that this is just the beginning of the renovation, so my initial opinions, wait, this weekend I would go and do a more detailed inspection and see if I can spot issues, also they have more work to be done next week/ Hopefully, they carry out a good work. I will PM you the details. =)
  12. Hi Bleucheeze, Yup, I go there every day in the morning before my work starts and in the evening to do a full check for the day. if I am not there, then my partner goes there in the the afternoon and I go in the evening. I feel that you must go there to check if they are doing it according to your expectations. I feel there can be communication breakdown or misunderstanding your requirements. Its often easier to get them to repair earlier than later. If I or my partner was not there, then we would not have been able capture the issues we found. I am doing the checking myself as I feel the contractors expectations and my expectations would be different, Also, the design of my place was done by me, so I have specific expectations and would rather check it for myself to my satisfaction than someone tell me it is good This is only the beginning, so I shall wait to see as they progress..... and will report if got any issues as I progress.....
  13. An update on the renovation : Disclaimer : This is my opinion up till what I have seen so far. If there are any changes, I will update them at that point of time. 1. The renovation is very fast, am surprised at the speed of the workers. I feel like I am holding back the workers as some of the materials have not arrived yet. 2. The tilers that Alan has working for my place are really very good. What I have seen up till now, the workmanship of the laying of the tiles for the bathroom and the kitchen seem to be clean well aligned and seamless across. Even the windows area, I saw the tilers assistant going grinding and readjusting so many times just to fit it seamless to the window lines. 3. Whenever I spot an issue, usually it is a design communication problem, the tiler says, "No problem, I will redo it for you" . He re did two areas to what our expectations were. I got to really thank him for that as he had done 3/4 of the stuff and he took it down and re-did the place exactly the way I wanted it. That is what I call great service and workmanship! 4. There was some ceiling leakage problem. Some contractors just to get the work done, would not tell you and just cover up the ceiling and finish their work and go, however, the tiler called me up and ask me to take the photo and go to HDB and report it. If he had not told me about it, I would later be suffering with a ceiling leakage issue. So thanx again!! There is still a lot of work to done done, but so far they have been pretty good, I will update further as we go along. Here are couple of pictures from the last visit : Kitchen backslash tiles & concrete base for cabinet : Common Bathroom: Master Bedroom Bathroom :
  14. Say Bleucheeze, isn't your contractor Alan?
  15. Definitely! Even after GST. its pretty worth it. I think I save over 800 bucks.
  16. HI, Sorry about it. Its not a transportation company. Its just someone my cousin knows who drives a lorry so he is helping transport the materials.
  17. Hi bleucheeze, Yup, that was my thinking. To stick laminate over the tiles. Easier to show what I mean by picture. See below of what I am thinking of. Does it make sense? Do you see any issues with doing this?
  18. Ooops......I meant to say Concrete Sink Support not base. ;p
  19. I see, you are mounting it on wood. I'm creating a concrete sink support for the sink area and about 9 inches more from the sink area for some heavy chopping action. I am then joining the concrete sink support with cabinet so a seamlessly surround it with wood so it looks like entire area is made of wood. Hopefully it turns out well. I am also designing my own kitchen cabinet but am gonna work with the carpentar to define the more detail specs based on what is possible. Mind if I tap on your experience with designing your carpentry, S1 is pretty Shallow correct? so you probably need a maximum of maybe 2 S1 to keep your cultery? Do you think there is a need for more? Is S4 really that deep that it cater for all your storage items? If you were to redesign again, what would you differently this time? Appreciate if you have words of advice or tips you can give me before I start on my cabinet construction. Thanx!
  20. If you know what you are looking for or the type of cabinet you want? why not go for a contractor ...I think it would be cheaper. My EA the painting cost is lower than yours. It also depends on the type of paint they will be using. I urge you to get some other quotations. hope this helps.
