  1. just my two cents worth 1. $90pfr for the kitchen cabinet, granite top around $100pfr / solid top from $50 to $160pfr 2. good quality hood and hob around $2k 3. kitchen sink from $200 to $2k 4. hack and retiling - not doing so no idea but the cost will depend largely on the kind of tiles you want to use 5. depending on the type of toilet seat. from $400 to $20k for both 6. shower screens should cost around $600 each 7. wash basin with glass top??? as in a glass cover or a glass basin??? 8. rain shower from $200 (w/o mixer) to $??? 9. + 10. ikea or closetdesign? pole or wood body? $80pfr to $300pfr 11. 12. depend on material. around $1k should be enough hope it helps.
  2. hi all who are staying at my block does the rain come into the service yard? thinking whether to do windows there or not want to save cost
  3. sigh... looks like my grilles are not going to be cheap peeked at the work order and realised that the price for the amplimesh is $14-$16psf that's about the price of wrought iron or more right? guess i'll be going for the wrought iron since the CH Tan offered to paint the grilles in epoxy black and gold will look nicer than the amplimesh anyway saw two worker when i was at the unit they were patching up the walls and cleaning up the tiles but they didn't patch up the walls near the door frame, they say not their area so got my bf to call the tile contractor and he said will be doing it when they get the tiles back from cutting and start laying the skirting but the tiles are still sitting in my unit
  4. hehehe, not me sleep on sofa but my mother like to take nap at the sofa that's why a little worried coz her health not very good so no need to lean against wall but not under/around vases or chandeliers or beams can liao right? thanks so much
  5. think car prices have been dropping in the recent years actually i'm considering a 2nd-hand hybrid but heard comments from car salesman that dun know how is the battery condition... for me fuel efficiency is rather important but engine capacity cannot be sacrificed have seen a chery qq at the junction. when the light turned green, i almost fainted at it's speed guess i'm a speed junky
  6. meeting the panggiap people this evening no choice coz they are the only ones with ampli-mesh see how much they are going to charge me if close to $2k think i'll take up the CH Tan offer of $2.3k another hole in my non-existent pocket
  7. no lah, saving up so that i can afford at least 30%, if possible 50% of the car price loh now can't afford 30% of any car, except my two 'kars' (as in legs) cannot bring myself to take any loan that'll last more than 4 yrs (home loan is the only exception) my aim is a hybrid, if possible without ka chng yes, i've heard loads about this dun-know-what 7 rule that's why the less car loan one takes, the better off one will be over 5% a year is not what i can stomach
  8. stainless steel will still rust unless it's top grade ones those used for piping are usually 18/8 even 18/10 pots from WMF still rust after years copper dun rust, they just oxidise and thus the colour change s/s looks nice but joints are a problem - can't bend too much or risk breakage in the future coz the material is compromised PVC is actually good coz it basically doesn't rust actually about the mouldy part, i dun quite understand my home pipes are almost as old as i am but no mould leh
  9. 15K depreciation! that quite a lot ain't it? assuming the voyager cost $100k, that's only $10k a year... and one credit card to buy a car, that would mean you either earn $100k a month, or the card is tied to a very FAT bank account but guess if we dun have a lot of loans and can probably pay at least 30-50% of the car price upfront, there's no harm buying a nicer car that's why i give myself five years to save up for a nice car rather than settle for something else...
  10. aiyo, then might as well get the basic version voyager i'm really captivated by their ad where they fold all the seats away wow
  11. actually dun have to go for epidural lah just do enough stretching exercises to maintain the flexibility of your body try yoga, it's supposed to help with the process ensure dun put on too much weight, if not baby become too big difficult to come out learn the breathing technic, heard it really help gambatte all mother-to-bes
  12. hi can i know where you got your roller blinds? looking for black-out ones with prints
  13. basically, when the job requires a diploma, they won't pay more for a degree-holder conversely, if there is another applicant who is a diploma holder AND has some experience in the field, you won't stand a chance anyway, if you are really interested in this job then check out the classifieds for similar jobs, some of the ads would have the salary range there sorry just curious why do you want a diploma-job when you have a degree?
  14. he better dun try anything funny if not i go complain to ms ng hopefully he will hand over the unit by next week then hdb can continue the rest of the rectification works if not i dun know when i can move it
  15. actually got to cut a hole to install those flap-doors many choices available. can choose one-way, two-way or RFID flap-doors my baby boy very naughty one. if we on air-con and close the door, he will cry to be let out if inside but cry to be let in if outside. so basically whole night we just open and close door for him nia today the irritating contractor called again told him to let me know if the tiles are not enough asap so that i can order earlier then spoke to him yesterday he say will send the tiles to cut today called to say tiles not enough he should have know since the tiling works was completed last week really dun know what to say only can say i'm thankful he is not my contractor
  16. think because of the balancing involved for ceiling fan balancing is very important, if not after one month the fan will start to shake actually ceiling fans with wooden blade is a better choice for me coz we are quite tall so safer to have wooden blades
  17. actually the basic voyager is not really very expensive think it's at $100k. it's more expensive than most japanese car but for a chrysler that capacity is consider reasonable liao but the FC is not very good
  18. the extra stuff you can put up in the trading corner here to sell or give away loh better still, do barter trade so that you'll get what you want at the same time
  19. maybe you want to share what this $7k consist of e.g. hacking and retiling, changing all WCs, basins and installing raindance, redoing waterproofing etc you may want to consider spraying instead of hacking and retiling getting cheap WCs and basins, using instant heater etc to cut cost
  20. we term it the 'lo ti chia' coz it looks like a loaf of traditional bread a man drives a van like that ferrying school children in my area the van got glass panel behind, and it's in green & beige best part is the man wears bow tie and long sleeve shirt very very retro nice
  21. actually hor, c-section got another disadvantage you know all the talk about giving birth reduces chance of breast cancer etc? it's tak pakai if you go for c-section... another thing about c-section is that it IS a surgery so all risks associate with surgery is there
  22. paiseh, thought i read the thread in renotalk maybe the thread got deleted or something basically it was a discussion on what housing alternatives he has he is quite young, can't afford private property and no girlfriend also hoping not needing to rent coz it's basically money down the drain hopefully he can find a solution to his problem can understand how he feels coz i have been sleeping with my parents in one room for the past five years but finally i've gotten my own place, thanks to my parents TS not so lucky though...

  24. thanks so much so if the sofa is the type with low headrest, it should lean against the wall right?
  25. personally, i feel that if you are not taking a package it'll be good to have itemised quotation where every item is specific e.g. supply and lay (size e.g. 600 x 600) (homogenous or porcelain or ceramic) tiles ****, dining with skirting (cost in absolute dollars) (max price psf) so the item should read supply and lay 600 x 600 porcelain tiles **** and dining with skirting $3000 (max $3psf) for carpentry items, it'll be good if the entire length, max height, material (solid ply/ply/chip-board), laminate (brand, country etc) etc listed down as well quite a few forummers had IDs / contractors who went back on their words simply because it's not stated in the contract / quotation
