actually for the quality and material used, it's considered cheap liao if you go for those $60pfr kitchen cabinet, most prob the material used is normal ply didn't really check out every contactor in singapore but so far he is the only one that come across as sincere and really interested in helping home-owners. the rest are more interested in getting me sign the contract -
hehehe, it's okay the pots and pans are out of my reach now will be using back my old ones until i settle my renovation

actually when patrick give you a quotation he also discount the total price liao e.g. total price $6780 he'll round it down to maybe $6600 or $6500. for me his price is very reasonable liao, what more with the discount also, think patrick is very chin chai as in what he promised he WILL deliver, what he didn't promise, he will still try to deliver so no one ever felt the need to argue or what... -
oh so your friend was referring to 红景天. seems to be selling at a premium in singapore but widely available over there. dun think one pill will do the trick. best recommended to take it for a month before going there

How Much Are You Willing To Pay For Kitchen Sink
applefreak replied to applefreak's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
any dimension you are looking at? the blanco metra9 is a composite sink with 80% granite content the bigger bowl is around 52cm by 43cm and the smaller bowl is about half doesn't come with a drainer though hoe kee is selling it at $399 most prob going for this since the modus m60 will totally bust my budget -

yes it's that WMF but the taka sale not very attractive leh so far the best i've seen is the robinson sale 20% + 20% off the retail price. but hor, still way out of my reach loh if i get a similar set of items from ikea will only cost me around $300 if WMF think will be at least 5 times that amt maybe i should go and buy toto later

heehee, you're welcome i have received a lot of advice and help when i embarked on my journey so i feel that i should offer them to newbies too (although i may not be the most correct ) also, i am not related to ho bee in anyway just feel that good things must share, and share in a big way -
ummm that's a consideration to shift or not to shift... i really getting lost liao leh dun know what i want also sometimes i wish i had just gotten a ID to do the thinking for me but then again i'm the one who knows the requirements best and the WMF / Jln besar / Ikea 'debate' on kitchen accessories it's kinda consuming me. hopefully more good news will come my way (in the form of pay increment) then i will just go and buy the WMF one

based on what i know (i've not started my renovation yet) 1. they just do the works for you but ah keong the carpenter can draw very well. so for carpentry stuff you'll get an idea of how it'll look like but first you must have an idea of what you want lah - not just what style but exactly where you want what etc 2. they do all coordination for you. all you have to do is tell them what you need done and it'll be done. you dun have to be there at all if you choose not to 3. i find that the renovation cost will depend largely on what kind of material you are looking at. even an ID firm can do it below $30k if you use vinyl or ceramic tiles and normal ply for carpentry think you can discuss with patrick how best to keep it to $30k hope it helps. remember to start a blog or t-blog to share with us your renovation progress - and pix are a must -
oh okay. then like that no need to hack lah but the casing will still be baked by the stove leh my turbo hob the fire very big one, if use the biggest burner cannot use small pot coz the handle will be burnt now i'm thinking the ugly casing that will be seen when i add one point in the middle of the living room for the ceiling and another on top of the stove area to ''highlight" my blue pearl countertop. most pple use the light on the hood but i dun have one
-
how did you do that? maybe ah keong is more experienced with carpentry works and did not come across a way to shift the sockets without hacking the tiles me also thought can't shift without hacking coz it's concealed wiring. if it can be done then i might consider not changing my original idea of having all in a row

so far, i've heard nothing but praises for patrick in terms of responsibility as for carpentry works, seems like ah keong is the best person to go to i've browsed through most of the threads in this forum and most have something to complain about their carpenters except ah keong's clients i find him really sincere in giving his clients the best experience, he even taught me how to look at the laminate sample i.e. must put the book upright coz it'll look lighter if the book is laid flat. i dun even experience this from the IDs i've approached (that's a good number, close to 20 i'd say) patrick is another good man. my renovation works initially is worth $6k but i fickle-minded so changed the things to be done at least 4-5 times. each time he will just change the quotation according to my 'demands' and send it back to me. this without any promise of taking him on! most IDs are just interested in getting me to sign on the dotted line, those that replied to me usually will ask to meet up to discuss AND sign the contract... however, the most important thing is you must feel comfortable with him loh. -

if you go through this thread, you'll be able to find it i'd give ten thumbs up for patrick and ah keong met up with ah keong last sat to discuss my kitchen he draw a few perspective and spent two hours at my place even though i didn't sign any contract or put any deposit and the advice he gives are all very practical and in-depth e.g. if i shift powerpoint got to hack a few tiles, he brought to my attention that even if the tile is the same, colour will still be different coz the tiles at my place already exposed to the elements for six years. really really detailed and thoughtful. -
ummm wonder if they have something similar for the medifresh 3-in-1 will be using that coz need anti-bacteria and anti-fungi actually can also consider the lavender mist coz it's lighter quite a popular choice in this forum
-
not using hood and hob is turbo one with battery so no need just got to decide which to unplug when i get my juicer. most prob will be the oven coz i'm the only person using it. aiyah, still got to find something else to unplug when i get my roaster aka 'xue di zi', can make roast chicken and bake cake

applefreak replied to Menon_sudhir's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
hi, better to get the ceiling fan seller to do the installation for you coz need to do balancing work which not many contractor can do it well. for the works you mentioned, can just get a contractor instead of ID i am going to use ho bee coz they are very sincere and the carpenter ah keong is really very good. he will go down to your unit and give practical suggestions. also will draw the kitchen out with pencil and paper for you. spent two hours with him yesterday to discuss my kitchen all these without signing any contract or paying deposit! check out the thread on ho bee for more details -
have seen this recommendation by forummers for eric not doing wiring works but my friend is so recommended him to my friend partly my friend's fault also lah coz she didn't ask for a written quotation but the price agreed upon and the final price he charged is $200 different my friend had no choice but paid loh then the scv point no working so had to call him to come back to rectify my friend had to live with tv or internet connection for a few days leh

Do Hdb Allow People To Downgrade?
applefreak replied to Prettibride's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
it depends on your needs if you can't afford to service two loans at one go, then you'll have to sell off 1st flat before getting 2nd one or use the contra facility but if you have enough to pay down 20% on the 2nd flat and service both loans at one go, there is a 6 months grace for you to sell the 1st flat AFTER taking over the 2nd flat. however, there had been instances where forummers managed to delay the selling for 2 years. at the expiry of the grace period, just go to hdb and explain to them why you didn't manage to sell your flat and ask for extension to TS, there is no rule against downgrading if you inherit the flat from your parents, the only thing you must do is sell off either unit coz one family nucleus is allowed to 'own' one hdb flat. even for taking hdb loan, downgrading is possible by appealing to hdb. friends have successfully done so i.e. sold their 4-rm bought with grant and buy 3-rm with hdb loan
