  1. i've been paying attention to the pricing of the hecom shops so far i've not seen any price changes !! dun worry about it, unlikely to change in the near future... also, if you dun mind, can consider getting the display sets much cheaper and almost brand new !! actually which block and floor you staying? i keep thinking you staying the same block as me
  2. so how's everything? you've moved in for two, three weeks liao right? me getting very worried about the cleaning part coz everytime i go down and sweep the floor, my hands sure kenna blisters one !! !! somemore now the whole place is empty so much easier to clean can't imagine when all the furniture go in liao how???
  3. think there should be, though they dun come cheap !! the bed is where we spend at least 1/3 of our lives, not to mention the 'important' activities that takes place there !! comfort must be very important bought my mattress after i lie down on it for 10 min and sat on the bed for 30min finalising my bedframe design. good enough for me coz not to hard but yet no difficulty getting up without using my hands
  4. kekeke, comfort is most important but i'm a lazy person so flat sheet is !! !! for me if not every morning wake up got to pull here and there
  5. hahaha, at least can benefit ka ki lang !! actually i also bought a lot of bedsheets, heng the mattress i got is standard 8" ones, if not also dun know how
  6. no lah i'm just kidding coz most prob SQ can't offer the kind of benefits and pay my current job is giving given i only have a diploma in business !! somemore i bonded for two more years coz i'm taking a advance diploma sponsored by my employer so no way i can resign so the only thing i can do is save save save then fly there to eat actually come to think of it, if i really join SQ most prob kenna kick out within three months coz put on too much weight !!
  7. oh dear that's bad guess being first time home owners we are bound to make this kind of mistakes !! any possibilities to change the bedsheets for something else? if not then got to sell them liao !!
  8. appleafreak from 297A compassvale street reporting in :danciingqueen:
  9. that's a very daring choice of laminates i'm still in many minds about what laminate to choose for my kitchen cabinets and BIW be prepared for a lot more decisions e.g. bathroom accessories etc didn't know there are so many different materials, design, functionality until i really open my eyes to look !!
  10. next went to causeway pt to pick this up also yahoo auction at $15, for my MBR bathroom i'm officially addicted to yahoo auction liao while at causeway pt, went to the courts to pay up for my sofa and change the delivery date to end of august too then my eyes had to stray to the carpet section and ended up with a soft carpet at $69 !! !! think i can forget about my year end trip liao lah, the way i'm spending oh dear that doesn't sound good !! that might mean they didn't insulate the pipes properly? are they going to change the insulation for you? something must be done, can't live with this kind of thing can we? note to self - fast fast call air-con pple to install fancoil. let the workers use then i'll know whether got any problems or not !! think our unit tour members now consist of 1. bluberi 2. compassvale 3. jaren 4. deathcoth 5. fromnuaa 6. gendon think you need to leave the air-con on for at least 8 straight hours to know leh that day i was looking at the workers install the trunking, not much faith !! think will ask them install the fancoil and test it out before it's too late
  11. was at my nest yesterday for the utilities turn-on and lights delivery detoured by AMK to pick up this got it at yahoo auction for $5, can use to put my legs when watching tv at my nest, the painter was already hard at work and the patching of groove lines are done beautifully can't wait to see how the colours will turn out on the walls selected glace for MBR, crystal blue for BR3 and divinity for the rest of the flat my sis selected urban grey for her room, hopefully it won't turn out too dark !! will be painting my service yard glace too  the utilities serviceman turned up and was looking at the meter when he shook his head and said - how come used so much? then we realised he was looking at my neighbours meter directed him to the correct meter and he started complaining about how hdb rectification works should not be using the electricity of the unit, there are power sockets along the corridor every few floors for this purpose. i was like !! why are you telling me??? he grumble grumble, took down the numbers and left now i will have to start paying the stupid sanitary charges liao next came the lights delivery. the time given was 10-12 but the stupid delivery man called me 8plus in the morning !! i was still sleeping so ignored the call when the lights arrived, quite a few covers got scratches so we rejected them now got to call them tomorrow to tell them about it !! rushed to eunos to pick this up total 8 cups and saucers for $30 now i can sit down and enjoy a cup of flower tea then we went down to beng tuan to look at the advertised $299 beframe with mattress. it wasn't satisfactory but i saw another bedframe that suits my needs going at $599 i.e. cannot be too low, headboard at least 30cm etc after spending an hour walking here and there in the shop, checking out all the bedframes including the catalogue, got two of the bedframes and two mattresses at $2100 including GST and delivery only thing is that my bedframe got to order so it'll take 28 working days to deliver that would mean end of august !! maybe i can lie on my new bed and study for my exams
  12. guess it's not easy to find a resale flat that we'll like everything about it sometimes the location and layout is good but the renovation is simply not our style from the pix the bathrooms looks quite bright, although the colour of the jacuzzi is a little dark maybe can consider spray painting over it instead of removing the whole thing the craftstone-liked tiles also very nice how i wish someone can just wave a wand and switch my bathroom with angie's
  13. maybe you take some pix and upload here the original tiles should be pink but i seriously doubt you can tell that !! better wipe the tiles clean clean coz we initially also thought it was just dirt but turn out the tiles are badly faded liao have you submitted your defects list? as for kitchen tiles, you need to find enough hollow tiles to get them to change if less than 50% hollow dun bother marking coz the TO refused to change mine despite it being a quarter hollow
  14. actually my unit is brand new from hdb so they offered to replace the faded floor tiles with white ceramic tiles but i didn't want ceramic, i prefer homogeneous tiles so i approached the hdb tile contractor to top up for it hdb pays $0.85psf for the ceramic tiles, so i will pay the difference between the price of the homogeneous tiles. in the end the tiles i picked cost $2.3psf, so it's $1.45psf then the 1250sqf is the area of the living, dining, study and bedrooms !!
  15. honestly for both accessories and lights, the estimated expenses can range from $1k to $20k it's really up to what you choose to replace and what brand you buy really budget 1. sink - $150 2. tap $30 3. shower heads - foc with water heater 4. 7-pc toilet accessories - $30 5. basin - $90 x 2 6. WC - $100 x 2 7. lights - $400 really luxurious 1. sink - $2k 2. tap $400 3. shower heads - $2k 4. 7-pc toilet accessories - $1k 5. basin - $50 x 2 6. WC - $2k x 2 7. lights - $10k the choice is yours !!
  16. welcome to renotalk :dancinqueen: your place still looks so nice after you have lived there for a year !!
  17. kekeke, actually i also dun know how much he is going to charge me leh guess i really trust that he won't over-charge me loh and seriously, in this point of my renovation process, not quite possible to opt for cheaper option... only changing the switching, the sockets might change in the future but definitely not now if you are interested, i found a shop at kelantan lane selling hager switches, those big big type at $2.2 one gang. quite cheap but it's plain white.
  18. new or resale? if new think there's an income restriction check out hdb site for more info
  19. wah nice food maybe i should reconsider about joining SQ val, got age limit one or not? if dun have monday i go interview
  20. wah so fast leh remember to take more pix and share with us here
  21. the FS guy was saying the MBR overall FS not so good BR3 more suitable for elderly coz it's the yan nian spot of the unit will be getting a screen to shield the toilet entrance and close the door when i sleep. must be more kiasu the painter actually wanted the air-con guys to install the fancoil that day as well he was saying better to install all at one go, saying he will protect the fancoil with newspaper or something like that hopefully they won't use the aircon too much think they'll be at my place max two weeks if the electrical bill too high will claim from patrick maybe i'll keep the remote controls
  22. after much deliberation and consideration will let my parents have the BR3 and install handle bars in both toilets the MBR toilet can be used in the daytime for them to bath and wash clothes at night they can use the common toilet which is only a few steps away good thing is the switch is right along the passageway, outside BR3 so no problem with seeing at night patrick really efficient leh, that day just mentioned casually that i want to change all the light switch to legrand ones, the big big kind two days later called him to ask if i should buy them and he said he already bought and put inside the HHS liao :P efficient and effective
  23. they are having a promo not a solid wood divider think the frame is wood, but the centre is thin piece of wood or screen opaque though, so good enough to block the chuan tang sha
  24. usually will remove the whole light then clean mah if it's so high, then bulb spoil how :notti: wow 151sqm love the space but hate the cleaning guess either buy those auto-vacuum robot or get someone to come in once a week to do cleaning
