distance too long cant use non invertor? hmmmm...i am also getting a Daikin system 4 for my mansionette, non invertor (9+9+9+12) - 2 rooms and 2 lower level. checked with a few dealers, they say no prob leh. the cheapest price i checked out was in carrefour. The prices: carrefour : 2675 (w/o posb everyday card) 2500 (after rebate with posb card) Allbest : 2549 Hong Huat : 2550 Coolserve: 2814 Airrelated: 2650 maybe u would like to check with others?

anyone tried using carrefour for aircon installation? their price is v cheap cos if u have a posb everyday card, then u get to claim back 7% gst. but i have never heard of anyone using them. any comments?

Yo! Another EM here. mine is also 151 sq meter. I will be getting my keys next week and starting my reno the week after. I also have to redo my flat. Quote for reno cost alone is $26k, excluding aircon, bedroom flooring and Alumix wardrobe for my MBR. Have fun renovating u completed reno already? any new pics to show?

Scoria76... at least u agreed on the date upfront. Our agents told us that estimated date we could get the flat latest mid June. So we happily told our buyers that by mid July, they can get the keys, given 1 mth for reno. In the end, we ended up getting the keys only in late July. Our seller did a contra and their seller couldnt realease them the flat early enough to move out by mid June. We couldnt force them to move early cos on paper, it's the 2nd apptm for handover. So yours was quite kind to handover to u before 2nd appmt. Luckily we could move into our in laws place while our home was under reno. Anyway, from experience, I learnt that agents wont help u solve any problem. It seems like our problem that we couldnt find any place to live in, not theirs.

i also facing same problem. Called up coolXXXXX. The lady which i talked to told me that no problem upgrading to 15Amp - just have to apply to HDB. I really wonder if it is true cos i also called another company and wasnt told of this option. This other person just told me if my house is restricted by 8.5Amp max running amp, then, i can only use a few systems that cater to that. I also want to be enlightened on this

For me, i didnt use what my agent recommended... went to talk to a few banks direct... eventually used citibank. The reason is bec they have this special scheme whereby for every dollar u put in the savings account u maintain with them, u get equivalent amount of savings in interest wh i think is v good. None of the banks savings accounts can grant u 3.25-4.5% interest anyway.

Homeowner, wow! A v well thought out kitchen! I wouldnt be able to think of something like that! Your kitchen is quite big compared to mine. I love your kitchen and toilet doors... esp the kitchen ...so matching and looks v well coordinated. How much did u pay to construct both the doors? Btw, how long did your reno take? is 3-4 weeks enough? i'll have to rush cos my buyers want to have the keys by end of July.... i'll be homeless if my sellers dont move in time cos they r doing a contra. Cant wait for the sale of my home to be completed... my first apptm is only on 19th May... think will only get my keys in mid to late june :(i really pray v hard they dont ask for extension.

I want to change my doors too... hope to see urs first before i decide ... I've spoken to Alumix and they gave me a quote of around $1k for my size. Are there other options?

sumobear, Nice pastel colours... some of the colours you chose were also choices i made... glad to see that they turn out quite well. I noted that you did not fully tile your kitchen wall. Actually, i also feel that full tiling doesnt seem necessary. But did your contractor say what sort of problem it could pose? personally, i feel it is ok. Yellow cabinet? Heee.... gotta be v nice ...cant wait to see that BTW, is that 10ft by 10ft? I was pondering over red, orange or yellow... love to have a happy kitchen place. hope u post more pics.

Should be ok.... i'm not rewiring whole house too. only the kitchen and toilets. My parents' old house was 26 yrs old. Didnt rewire since day 1 but didnt face any problem. Cost savings is one thing. Anyway, my wirings r hidden in the cornice... to rewire, i have to redo all the cornices. Understand that u chose McQuay in the end. I called up the authorised dealers. Found out they no longer carry that brand. That's why the 3rd guy recommended me Daikin. H/e, i dont hear v good reviews on Daikin these days. Used to be v good. Now cost came down a lot cos it's made in Thailand. I remembered paying $4.9k for my system 4 in 2000. Now system 4 costs only $2.6k. That's true... really pei fu you guys. My hub will be v busy preparing for his exams during the time we r doing the reno... he says to leave everything to me!! oh boy! stressed. think better idea to get one contractor to do all. Else, like u said, it's not an easy task to coordinate the various gps! went searching for reno companies during the weekend. My quotes range around $20k for 2 toilets, kitchen and painting and laminate flooring for rooms. Reasonable? Gave me a bit of hope that my budget of $30k all in can be achieved.

after sales often cannot meet what sales promise... sad fact of life btw, i checked with a few aircon companies... some feedback i got: I asked them all the same question "i am looking for an aircon system for my Mansionette. Either system 4 or 5. Max Running Amp is 8.5Amp. Which system do u recommend?" 1) Co 1 : Salesman 1 questioned me why i wanted to use system 5... lectured me for half an hr and tell me it's pointless cos it wont be cold if i turn on 2 at the same time..blah blah blah .... ok ok point noted 2) Co 2 (a v reputable retail outlet): Salesman no 2 told me : For old flats using 8.5Amp, can only use Mit Star Max and Fujitsu inverter systems. And must be INVERTER. They recommend system 4 cos they dont have system 5 3) Co 3 : Salesman 3 (Daikin rep) told me for 8.5Amp, can only use their 21,000 btu non-invertor (system 4)and must be NON INVERTOR. Told me ok to switch on 2 at the same time. Conflicting ... i'm already v blur re aircon specs... these pp r making me blurrer... so who's right and who's wrong? i really donno wh one to believe.

Gosh! I was eating my lunch when i read this Did u change your aircon? My hub insisted on changing cos he felt that 15 yr aircon is too old for comfort... but with the 8.5Amp restriction...not many choices left for System 4 and 5.

My unit is 15 years of age. Old but not exactly v v old. Quite expensive to change !! If I take that out, my quote will be much lower. Trying to work within a $25k budget for everything.

GMC, wow... great to see u still around! Carpentry only 16ft kitchen cabinet top and bottom but i think i will reduce that cos the kitchen seems a bit cluttered with that much carpentry. "Supply & install laminated kitchen cabinet with ABS door trimming". BTW, what is ABS door trimming? Something special?

oic... your quote also includes spraying toilet bowls and basins..wow! that's a good deal. David quoted me $1k+ per toilet but he didnt mention it includes the toilet bowls and basins. But he did caution me that if i colour the basins and toilet bowls, i cannot scrub them too hard... will wear out v fast.

Homeowner, how much did u pay for the reno of toilets and kitchen? yours is an EM right? I was quoted $20k for redoing 2 toilets and 1 kitchen. u think it is reasonable?

Mace, u got pic of your toilet to show? I got a quote for hacking and retiling. Each toilet costs around $3k. I didnt know spraying is also waterproofing...hmmmm... if so, it's really a good idea to spray.

xinyi, must show me the pic of your cabinet once your reno is completed i also have 1 or or cabinet to reskin n change door.
